Several O- and S-quinoxaline glycosides have been prepared by glycosidation of 3-methyl-2-oxo(thioxo)-1,2-dihydroquinoxalines 1a,b with α-D-glucopyranosyl, α-D-galactopyranosyl, and α-D-lactosyl bromide in the presence of K2CO3 followed by deacetylation with Et3N/H2O. Furthermore, alkylation of 1a,b with 4-bromobutyl acetate, 2-acetoxyethoxymethyl bromide, and 3-chloropropanol afforded the corresponding O- and S-acycloquinoxaline nucleosides. Reaction of 1b with chloroacetic acid followed by condensation with sulfacetamide and sulfadiazine in the presence of Et3N/THF and ethyl chloroformate gave the corresponding sulfonamide derivatives 14 and 15, respectively. The structures of new compounds were confirmed by using IR, 1H, 13C NMR spectra and microanalysis. Some of these compounds were screened in vitro for antitumor and antifungal activities. 相似文献

The development of photosynthetic activity and synthesis of chloroplast membrane polypeptides was studied during greening of Euglena gracilis Z in alternate light-dark-light cycles. The results show: (a) The development of both Photosystem II and Photosystem I can be dissociated from chlorophyll synthesis. (b) Most of the polypeptides required for development of Photosystem I are already synthesized during the initial light period (10–12 h); the further rise in Photosystem I activity in the dark is not inhibited by cycloheximide nor by chloramphenicol. (c) The development of Photosystem II requires continuous de novo synthesis of polypeptides and is inhibited by chloramphenicol. The water-splitting activity already present at the end of the first light period decays in the presence of chloramphenicol while that of 1,5-diphenylcarbazide oxidation is only partially retained. The activity can be repaired in the absence of chlorophyll synthesis and is correlated with the de novo synthesis of polypeptides of 50 000–60 000 daltons. The synthesis of these polypeptides and associated repair of Photosystem II activity is not inhibited by cycloheximide. (d) The chloroplast membranes can be resolved into about 40 distinct polypeptides, among them several in the molecular weight range 50 000–60 000, 20 000–35 000 and 10 000–15 000, which are major membrane constitutents. (e) The synthesis of two major polypeptides (Mr = 20 000–30 000) required for the formation of chlorophyll-protein complex(es) containing chlorophyll a and traces of chlorophyll b (CPII?) is light-dependent and cycloheximide-inhibited. It is concluded that the synthesis and addition to the growing membrane of chlorophyll and polypeptides required for the formation of Photosystem II and Photosystem I complexes can be dissociated in time. The H2O-splitting enzyme(s) and possibly other components of Photosystem II complex are of chloroplastic origin and turn over in the dark while at least some of the chlorophyll binding polypeptides are of cytoplastic origin and their synthesis is light-controlled. 相似文献

Eddy-covariance measurements of CO2 exchange above a Sahelian savanna consisting of small shrubs over a near-continuous herb layer were made during the HAPEX-Sahel experiment in Niger, West Africa. The measurements were made near-continuously during an 8-week period, covering the main part of the rainy season and three weeks at the beginning of the dry season. The measurements were corrected for in-canopy storage of CO2 and the night-time measurements used to derive respiration functions for the soil, roots and above-ground plant material. Photosynthetic CO2 uptake was estimated and compared to simulations using a biochemical photosynthesis model in a simple, ‘big-leaf’, implementation. The model satisfactorily reproduced the measurements (coefficient of determination 0.80) using parameters defined from the literature and based on soil nutrient concentrations. When the quantum yield (α) and rubisco capacity (Vmr) were fitted to the data with allowance for physiological changes through the season, an excellent agreement between model and measurements was obtained (coefficient of determination 0.93, RMS error 1.46 μmol m–2 s–1). The fitted photosynthesis and respiration model was used to estimate the carbon balance of the savanna site during the growing season of 1992 and for the complete calendar year. Harvest estimates of net plant biomass accumulation during the growing season and annual wood accumulation agreed well with modelled net photosynthesis and annual net carbon accumulation, respectively. Peak instantaneous ecosystem CO2 uptake was comparable to peak values observed in other biomes, but annual photosynthesis and carbon sequestration were considerably lower than observed elsewhere. 相似文献

It has been proposed that many factors have been implicated in the pathogenesis of unexplained recurrent spontaneous miscarriage (URSM). The objective of this study was to evaluate the levels of some antioxidants, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), luteinizing (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in URSM. Serum levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), LH, FSH as well as TNF-α in serum and the expression of TNF-α positive cells in placental tissues, were assayed in women suffering from unexplained first trimester miscarriage. Two groups were included, the first was represented by 16 women with URSM (number of abortions: 3–5) and the second one included 24 women with URSM (number of abortions > 5). The control groups included 20 women within their first trimester of pregnancy and 20 non pregnant healthy females within their follicular phase. The obtained results showed a highly significant decrease in serum levels of SOD and CAT, in the URSM groups compared to control groups (p< 0.05 for each comparison). Higher serum levels of TNF-α were detected in URSM groups compared to control groups (p< 0.05 for each comparison). A significant increase in serum levels of LH was encountered between URSM groups compared to control groups; on the other hand the mean levels of FSH expressed no significant changes among URSM groups as compared to first trimester pregnancies control group. A positive correlation was noticed between serum levels of TNF-α and the levels of LH (p< 0.05). We conclude that antioxidant enzymes (CAT, SOD), TNF-α, LH and FSH may play a major role in the pathogenesis of URSM. The reaction of pregnenolone with either 2-aminoprop-1-ene-1,1,3-tricarbonitrile or 3-oxo-3-phenylpropanenitrile gave the Knoevenagel condensation products 3 and 6, respectively. Separation of the E and Z isomeric compounds of 3 and 6 together with their structure elucidation were carried out. Some chemical transformations of the latter products were carried out and the cytotoxicity of the newly obtained products was evaluated against some cancer cell lines and a human normal cell line. The results indicated that compounds 15, 17a, 18 and 20e among the tested compounds showed the highest cytotoxicity against the cancer cell lines. 相似文献

Medicinal plants are a two-edged sword that might be exploited as a treatment specific dosage, and as deadly poisonous substances to commit murder or suicide when administered in high doses. Forensic experts can collect traces and residual materials from these toxic medicinal plants at a crime scene as forensic evidence. Further, more investigations need to be deeply implemented to in the future to understand the significance of medicinal plants in forensic investigations to detect these criminal offenses. Additionally, to provides a deep understanding of chemical substances that can impact human life positively or negatively with different doses as well as identifying the optimal or overdose concentrations for either treatments or poisonous effects using recent biotechnological approaches.
