Three case studies involving two temperate Australian seagrass species – Pondweed (Ruppia tuberosa) and Ribbon Weed (Posidonia australis) – highlight different approaches to their restoration. Extreme weather events have become a dominant feature of the narrative surrounding changes in global climate with large impacts on ecosystem stability, functioning and resilience; however, understanding of their risk of co‐occurrence at the regional scale is lacking. Based on the UK Met Office’s long‐term temperature and rainfall records, we present the first evidence demonstrating significant increases in the magnitude, direction of change and spatial co‐localisation of extreme weather events since 1961. Combining this new understanding with land‐use data sets allowed us to assess the likely consequences on future agricultural production and conservation priority areas. All land‐uses are impacted by the increasing risk of at least one extreme event and conservation areas were identified as the hotspots of risk for the co‐occurrence of multiple event types. Our findings provide a basis to regionally guide land‐use optimisation, land management practices and regulatory actions preserving ecosystem services against multiple climate threats.  相似文献

Infants often experience complementary food-induced diarrhoea (CFID), which occurs when infants switch from breast milk to solid foods. The relative abundances of Prevotella and Rothia were higher in stools of infants with CFID, while the relative abundances of Enterococcus and Escherichia were higher in healthy infants. The abundance of Lactobacillus spp. normally found in breast milk fed to infants with CFID was significantly reduced, and Enterococcus spp. were less abundant when diarrhoea occurred. Furthermore, Lactobacillus and Enterococcus were present as shared bacteria in both mother and infant, and they were considered potential anti-CFID probiotics as their relative abundances in breast milk were negatively correlated to infant CFID. Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) functional analysis showed that the function of amino acid metabolism differed between infants with CFID and healthy infants. Therefore, CFID might be related to the decomposition of proteins in food supplements. The screening revealed seven hydrolytic casein and five hydrolytic casein and rice protein isolates from 320 suspected Lactobacillus and Enterococcus isolates. The animal experiments demonstrated that a mixture of five isolates effectively hydrolysed the casein and rice protein and prevented diarrhoea in young rats. Thus, the occurrence of CFID was found to be closely related to the intestinal and breast milk microbiota, and bacteria that could assist in the digestion of cereal proteins were involved in CFID.  相似文献

Cilia are microtubule‐based structures that either transmit information into the cell or move fluid outside of the cell. There are many human diseases that arise from malfunctioning cilia. Although mammalian models provide vital insights into the underlying pathology of these diseases, aquatic organisms such as Xenopus and zebrafish provide valuable tools to help screen and dissect out the underlying causes of these diseases. In this review we focus on recent studies that identify or describe different types of human ciliopathies and outline how aquatic organisms have aided our understanding of these diseases.  相似文献

蝙蝠是很多病原微生物的自然宿主, 全球多项研究表明蝙蝠是巴尔通体(Bartonella species)的主要宿主。为了解滇西南地区蝙蝠中巴尔通体的流行特征, 我们于2015-2017年间在云南省4个地区应用网捕法捕获蝙蝠3种305只。经种类鉴定后采集肝脾组织, 提取核酸, 通过TaqMan实时荧光定量PCR方法检测巴尔通体的tmRNA基因ssrA, 并进行测序鉴定和系统发育分析。结果发现172只蝙蝠检出该基因, 总感染率为56.4%; 其中临沧、西双版纳、保山和瑞丽4个采样点的蝙蝠感染率分别为50.0% (22/44)、61.7% (29/47)、62.1% (18/29)和55.7% (103/185)。中菊头蝠(Rhinolophus affinis)、小菊头蝠(R. blythi)和棕果蝠(Rousettus leschenaultii)的感染率分别为50.0% (22/44)、62.1% (18/29)和56.9% (132/232), 差异没有统计学意义(χ2 = 1.135, P = 0.567), 表明巴尔通体在云南当地的蝙蝠种群中高度流行。定量PCR扩增产物2次扩增后测序获得37个巴尔通体ssrA序列, 属于10个系统发育分支, 其中1个为伊丽莎白巴尔通体(B. elizabethae)、特利波契巴尔通体(B. tribocorum)和克拉斯诺夫巴尔通体(B. krasnovii)的近缘种。其余序列与已知巴尔通体距离较远, 与亚洲、欧洲和美洲等其他地域来源于蝙蝠的巴尔通体近缘。遗传多样性分析显示, ssrA基因的核苷酸多样性指数(π)为0.11381 ± 0.00928, 基因型多样性指数(Hd)为0.985 ± 0.010, 形成29个基因型(单倍型), 说明云南蝙蝠巴尔通体具有丰富的遗传多样性。通过对本研究标本与全球相关序列的系统发育网络重建, 分析全球蝙蝠巴尔通体的地理和宿主分布特征, 可以看出巴尔通体与蝙蝠之间存在显著的宿主特异性关联。因此可初步确定蝙蝠-巴尔通体具有协同进化特征, 同时受到地理隔离的影响。  相似文献

建立植物功能性状与群落动态之间的关联是功能生态学的核心问题之一。本文基于鼎湖山1.44 ha塔吊样地的两次调查数据, 通过采集样地内所有4,142株个体的6种植物功能性状, 对比分析了个体水平植物功能性状和物种水平功能性状均值对不同垂直层次(灌木层、亚冠层和林冠层)个体生长的影响差异。首先, 分析了不同垂直层次下各植物功能性状的变化趋势; 其次, 计算了不同垂直层次下各植物功能性状的种内和种间变异水平; 最后, 运用结构方程模型探讨了植物功能性状、光竞争以及地下竞争对不同垂直层次树木生长的影响。结果表明: (1)不同垂直层次下的植物功能性状表现出明显的分异, 由灌木层至林冠层, 叶面积、比叶面积和能量供求关系指数显著降低, 而叶片厚度和叶片干物质含量显著升高; (2)不同垂直层次下植物功能性状的种间变异均大于种内变异, 且林冠层的种内功能性状变异均大于灌木层和亚冠层; (3)基于个体水平植物功能性状的结构方程模型较物种水平功能性状均值对生长具有更高的解释程度, 且个体水平植物功能性状的引入更有利于提高对灌木层个体生长的预测能力; (4)光竞争和地下竞争主要通过影响功能性状间接影响植物生长。由灌木层至林冠层, 同种间的相互作用逐渐减弱, 异种间的相互作用逐渐增强。综上, 将个体水平植物功能性状纳入分析有助于更好地理解群落的结构和动态。  相似文献

黑果枸杞(Lycium ruthenicum)是重要的药食同源植物, 在干旱荒漠区发挥着防风固沙的重要生态功能, 但目前片段化分布日趋严重。该研究利用黑果枸杞在新疆的87个自然分布点和基准气候(1971-2000年)下的19个气候变量, 利用GIS空间分析和R软件Biomod2建模平台, 模拟分析黑果枸杞在新疆的适宜分布范围、空间分布特征及其关键限制因子; 并结合研究区土地利用/土地覆被现状, 评价其分布潜力; 同时对黑果枸杞的南北疆种群进行分组建模, 分析该植物的生态位分化。研究结果表明: (1)组合模型的真实技巧统计(TSS)均高于0.75、接收工作机特征曲线下的面积(AUC)均高于0.85, 模拟精度相比单个模型有明显提高; 组合模型得到的种下分组建模的模拟准确性较物种水平有显著提升, TSS均高于0.78、AUC均高于0.88; (2)根据组合模型的模拟结果, 黑果枸杞在新疆的适宜生境面积占比为36.72%, 主要分布于准噶尔盆地、天山北坡及塔里木盆地西北缘和西南缘; 其中, 高度适生区面积占比为5.19%, 集中于福海县、塔城地区东部、天山北坡博乐至阜康一线、库尔勒、柯坪县及塔里木盆地西南缘。高度与中度适生区与研究区耕地的重叠率达80.6%和50.8%; (3)南北疆黑果枸杞种群存在显著的生态位分化, 最暖季平均气温、等温性、降水季节性是驱动黑果枸杞局部环境适应性分化的主要因子。  相似文献

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) has been shown to play an important role in the progression of various cancers. However, the function and underlying mechanisms of circRNAs affecting chemotherapy resistance in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remain largely unknown. In this study, we used gefitinib-resistant (GR) ESCC cells to investigate the function of circPSMC3 and clarify the underlying mechanism in chemotherapy resistance in ESCC. The results suggested that circPSMC3 expression was downregulated, but miR-10a-5p was upregulated in ESCC tissues and cells, as well as in GR ESCC cells. CircPSMC3 overexpression increased the sensitivity of ESCC cells to gefitinib, as indicated by reduced half maximal inhibitory concentration value, increased apoptosis rate and cleaved caspase-3 protein expression. CircPSMC3 directly interacted with miR-10a-5p and inhibited the expression of miR-10a-5p. Phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) was a direct target of miR-10a-5p and circPSMC3 promoted PTEN expression via decreasing miR-10a-5p level. Moreover, the effect of circPSMC3 on resistance of GR ESCC cells to gefitinib was remarkably reduced by restoration of miR-10a-5p and downregultion of PTEN. Taken together, these observations suggested that upregulation of circPSMC3 overcame resistance of GR ESCC cells to gefitinib by modulating the miR-10a-5p/PTEN axis, which provide a new therapeutic strategy for overcoming gefitinib resistance in ESCC.  相似文献
