Background:Chronic kidney disease (CKD), is a major public health challenge worldwide. It is more prevalent in developed countries compared with the rest of the world, due to the higher rates of life expectancy and unhealthy lifestyle related factors. This aim of the current study is to evaluate the relationship between interleukins IL-2 and IL-17 concentrations and kidney function markers in men with CKD.Methods:Forty-five men with CKD and seventy controls were enrolled in the current study to assess the relationship between interleukin-2 (IL-2), interleukin-17 (IL-17), and CKD parameters. Fasting blood samples were collected from patients with CKD and their controls at same time. Serum IL-2, and IL-17 were measured in patients with CKD and their controls, and then the relationship between these interleukins and serum creatinine, serum urea, serum uric acid and urine albumin were evaluated.Results:A significant relationship was detected between IL-2 (p< 0.001), IL-17 (p< 0.001) levels and serum creatinine concentrations. The significant increase of IL-2 and IL-17 levels were also paralleled with a significant increase in serum urea (p< 0.001), and urine albumin (p< 0.001) concentrations respectively.Conclusion:IL-2 and IL-17 may play a critical role in the pathophysiology of CKD. The significant increase of IL-2 and IL-17 is associated with significantly high concentrations of creatinine, serum urea and urine albumin suggesting that these interleukins may be used as targets for future biomarkers and molecular therapy. However, due to limited sample size of the current study, larger prospective cohorts are needed to confirm these observations.Key Words: Chronic kidney disease, Interleukins, Serum creatinine, Serum urea, Urine albumin  相似文献

Vibriosis is one of the most prevalent fish diseases caused by bacteria belonging to the genus Vibrio. Vibriosis caused by Vibrio anguillarum produces a 38-kDa major outer membrane porin protein (OMP) for biofilm formation and bile resistant activity. The gene encoding the porin was used to construct DNA vaccine. The protective efficiency of such vaccine against V. anguillarum causing acute vibrio haemorrhagic septicaemia was evaluated in Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer Bloch), a common species of the Indian coast and a potential resource for the aquaculture industry. In vitro protein expression of porin gene was determined by fluorescent microscopy after transfection of seabass kidney cell line (SISK). Fish immunized with a single intramuscular injection of 20 microg of the OMP38 DNA vaccine showed significant serum antibody levels in 5th and 7th weeks after vaccination, compared to fish vaccinated with the control eukaryotic expression vector pcDNA3.1. Asian seabass vaccinated with the OMP38 DNA vaccine was challenged with pathogenic V. anguillarum by intramuscular injection. A relative percent survival (RPS) rate of 55.6% was recorded. Bacterial agglutination and serum complement activity was analysed by using DNA vaccinated seabass serum above 80% of analysed strain was killed at the highest agglutination titre. Histopathological signs of V. anguillarum challenged fish were observed in around 45% of pVAOMP38, 90% of PBS and 87% of pcDNA3.1-vaccinated control fish. The results indicate that L. calcarifer vaccinated with a single dose of DNA plasmid encoding the major outer membrane protein shows moderate protection against acute haemorrhagic septicaemia and mortality by V. anguillarum experimental infection.  相似文献

A quantitative and qualitative survey was carried out for airborne fungus spores coming into contact with horizontally and vertically gravitation sampling oriented surfaces in the atmosphere of Giza city. Czapek Dox agar, malt extract agar, potato dextrose agar and Sabouraud dextrose agar Petri dishes were exposed monthly to the five oriented surfaces of a polystyrene cube, throughout a one-year period. Significant differences (P < 0.01) were observed between the total counts of caught airborne fungi contacting with the horizontal compared to other vertically oriented surfaces. Conversely, there were no significant differences observed between the total catch of airborne fungi using the various sampling media. The results revealed that vertical sampling provides valuable information that may be lost from horizontal sampling alone. A total of 5,053 colonies belonging to 40 fungal organisms were identified. Alternaria (24.26%), Aspergillus (19.2%), Cladosporium (14.5%) and Penicillium (11.43%) were the most predominant fungal genera. Collected fungi were grouped into high, medium, low and rare components depending upon their frequency in the studied atmosphere. Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus parasiticus, Alternaria, Cladosporium and Penicillium were regularly found on all oriented surfaces. However, Arthrobotrys, Biospora, Chaetomium, Pleospora, Trichothecium and Verticillium were rarely found in the air. Positive and/or negative correlations were observed between the total fungal counts and the predominant fungal types with meteorological parameters during sampling days.  相似文献

This study, carried out in Shatt Al-Arab river near Basrah, Iraq, reports a close negative (inverse) relation between phytoplankton numbers and decomposing fungi belonging to the family Saprolegniaceae (Oomycetes). This relation seems to depend on substrate relationship and antagonism. In addition the role of other physico-chemical factors, pH, temperature and salinity has been discussed.  相似文献

Condensation of 3-(d-erythro -2,3,4-trihydroxy-l-oxobutyl)-2-quinoxalinone and its 6-chloro derivative (obtained by the reaction of d-erythro-2,3-hexodiulosono-1,4-lactone with ortho-diamines) with aryl- or aroyl-hydrazines gave 3-[l-(phenylhydrazono)-d-erythro-2,3,4-trihydroxybutyl]-2-quinoxalinone (5) and relatives. Whereas boiling acetic anhydride causes the loss of two molecules of water per molecule of such hydrazones, affording, the 3-[5-(acetoxymethyl)-l-arylpyrazol-3-yl]-2-quinoxalinones, identical with those obtained from the l-threo isomer, alkali causes the loss of only one molecule, affording, the corresponding flavazoles. Periodate oxidation of 5 gave 3-[l-(phenylhydrazono)glyoxal-l-yl]-2-quinoxalinone, which afforded the corresponding mixed bis(hydrazones). A similar sequence of reactions was conducted with the aryl analogs, 4-phenyl-2,3-dioxobutano-1,4-lactone and its p-chlorophenyl derivative, whereby the 3-[2-aryl-l-(arylhydrazono)-2-hydroxyethyl]2-quinoxalinones, were prepared; these were transformed into 3-(α-hydroxybenzyl)-flavazoles that gave monoacetyl derivatives.  相似文献

The (phenylacetyl)hydrazones of d-galactose, d-glucose, d-mannose, d-arabinose, l-arabinose, d-xylose, and l-sorbose were prepared. The d-galactose and d-arabinose derivatives were converted into their per-O-acetylated derivatives (8 and 9, respectively). The acyclic structure of 8 was proved from its direct preparation by the condensation of(phenylacetyl)hydrazine with penta-O-acetyl-aldehydo-d-galactose. Cyclization of 2,3,4,5,6-penta-O-acetyl-aldehydo-d-galactose (phenylacetyl)hydrazone with boiling acetic anhydride yielded a mixture of two products that could be separated by fractional recrystallization, to give 3-acetyl-5-benzyl-2-(polyacetoxy)alkyl-1,3,4-oxadiazolines; a mechanism for the reaction was proposed. The n.m.r. and mass spectra of some of these derivatives were discussed.  相似文献

White tail disease (WTD) was found to be a serious problem in hatcheries and nursery ponds of Macrobrachium rosenbergii in India. The causative organisms have been identified as M. rosenbergii nodavirus (MrNV) and its associated extra small virus (XSV). Experimentally transmitted to healthy animals, they caused 100% mortality in post-larvae but failed to cause mortality in adult prawns. The RT-PCR assay revealed the presence of both viruses in moribund post-larvae and in gill tissue, head muscle, stomach, intestine, heart, hemolymph, pleopods, ovaries and tail muscle, but not in eyestalks or the hepatopancreas of experimentally infected adult prawns. The presence of these viruses in ovarian tissue indicates the possibility of vertical transmission. Pleopods have been found to be a suitable organ for detecting these viruses in brooders using the RT-PCR technique.  相似文献
