Dissociation of the X-Y chromosome bivalent in diakinesis-metaphase I spermatocytes of adult mice was significantly more frequent in the CBA strain (29%) than in C57, KP, or KE strains (7–11%). Autosome dissociatio (1–5%) involved only the smallest chromosome pairs. Eleyatedfrequency of X-Y dissociation in the CBA strain correlates with significantly lower testes weight and lower yield of spermatogenesis, which suggests that sex bivalent dissociation man be responsible for some loss of spermatogenic cells. However, sperm quality is not affected, the percentage of normal spermatozoa and their fertlizing capacity being higher in CBA thatn in the remaining strains. Two congenic strains, KE and KE. CBA (the latter with the Y chromosome introduced from CBA), had the same level of X-Y dissociatios, suggesting that the Y chromosome plays no rle in the determination of this character. In comparison with adult males pubertal (27–29 day-old) males had twice as hig a frequency of X-Y dissociation in KE an KP strains, and combined frequeicies of dissociated sex and autosome bivalents were significantly higher in pubertal males of all tested strains. Although te level of chromosome dissociation is not sufficient to explain increased mortality of germ cells observed in pubertal males, it could be one of the contributing factors. 相似文献

The leaves of blueberry are a rich source of polyphenols, chlorogenic acid (CGA) being the dominant constituent. It exerts beneficial health effects on living organisms. However, the mechanism of its interaction with biological systems at the molecular and cell level is not yet fully known. For this reason, biophysical studies were undertaken to investigate the effect of the polyphenolic compounds contained in the extract on the physical properties of cells, biological and model lipid membranes; and to assess the extract’s antioxidant activity in relation to the erythrocyte membrane and membrane lipids extracted from erythrocyte membranes. The hemolytic studies have shown that extract exert no destructive effect on the erythrocyte membrane, but make it more resistant to changes in tonicity of the medium. The studies of shapes of erythrocytes and of changes induced by the extract in different areas of the membrane showed that the compounds bind mainly to the outer lipid monolayer of the membrane. The biological activity of the polyphenolic compounds present in the blueberry leaf extract consists primarily in protecting the membranes against the harmful effects of free radicals, probably owing to a barrier that they form on the surface of the membrane. In addition, the close link demonstrated between the antioxidant activity of the extract and the activity of CGA means that the extract may, at appropriately selected high concentrations, be used as a widely available, cheap CGA substitute, in those pharmacological preparations where CGA has long been used, without the risk of side effects. 相似文献

Embryo formation from callus of Theobroma cacao L. was associated with the changes in relationship between nuclear, nucleolar and cell sizes and the content of basic proteins (FG-FCF-stained). Together with the increase in nuclear size of callus and proembryo cells the increase in the amount of nuclear basic proteins was found. In the callus cells the increase in nucleolar protein content exceeded that in nucleolus size, which led to the rise in basic protein concentration in the nucleolus. However, in the early stage of embryogenesis the increase in protein content was not so marked as that in callus, which indicated that embryogenesis involved a decrease in concentration of nucleolar basic proteins. Differences between callus and proembryo cells were also observed in the concentration of cytoplasmic proteins. The increase in size of callus cells was the same as the increasing amount of cytoplasmic proteins. In proembryos a significant increase in cell size was accompanied by only slight changes in cytoplasmic proteins. The stimulation of embryogenesis by 2,4-D resulted in an increase of nuclear concentration of basic proteins in proembryos. The intensification of embryogenesis involved the decrease of the concentration of nucleolar proteins together with the increase in concentration of basic cytoplasmic proteins. 相似文献

There was a linear relation between an increase in DNA content and size of nuclei, nucleoli and cells in callus and proembryos (Theobroma cacao L.). In callus the increase of DNA content was accompanied by proportional increase in nuclear size whereas in proembryos the increase in nuclear size did not match the increasing amount of DNA. The stimulation of embryogenesis by 10(-2) mg/l 2,4-D was associated with increase in nuclear and nucleolar size and with decrease in cell sizes. Inhibition of embryogenesis by 1.0 mg/l 2,4-D+10% coconut water did not change nuclear size, but increased cell size in relation to the control. The process of embryo formation was accompanied by changes in relationship between nuclear, nucleolar and cell size and the total (DNFB-stained) proteins content. In callus as well as in proembryo the increase in total protein content in nucleus was not equivalent to the increasing sizes of nuclei which leads to the decrease in nuclear protein concentration. Similar situation was observed for nucleoli. Differences were found in the concentration of cytoplasmic proteins between the callus and proembryo cells. The stimulation of embryogenesis by low concentration of 2,4-D resulted in decrease in concentration of total proteins in nuclei and nucleoli and the increase in cytoplasm. 相似文献
