The present paper concentrates on the impact of visual attention task on structure of the brain functional and effective connectivity networks using coherence and Granger causality methods. Since most studies used correlation method and resting-state functional connectivity, the task-based approach was selected for this experiment to boost our knowledge of spatial and feature-based attention. In the present study, the whole brain was divided into 82 sub-regions based on Brodmann areas. The coherence and Granger causality were applied to construct functional and effective connectivity matrices. These matrices were converted into graphs using a threshold, and the graph theory measures were calculated from it including degree and characteristic path length. Visual attention was found to reveal more information during the spatial-based task. The degree was higher while performing a spatial-based task, whereas characteristic path length was lower in the spatial-based task in both functional and effective connectivity. Primary and secondary visual cortex (17 and 18 Brodmann areas) were highly connected to parietal and prefrontal cortex while doing visual attention task. Whole brain connectivity was also calculated in both functional and effective connectivity. Our results reveal that Brodmann areas of 17, 18, 19, 46, 3 and 4 had a significant role proving that somatosensory, parietal and prefrontal regions along with visual cortex were highly connected to other parts of the cortex during the visual attention task. Characteristic path length results indicated an increase in functional connectivity and more functional integration in spatial-based attention compared with feature-based attention. The results of this work can provide useful information about the mechanism of visual attention at the network level.  相似文献

Activation of the adiponectin (APN) signaling axis retards liver fibrosis. However, understanding of the role of AdipoR1 and AdipoR2 in mediating this response is still rudimentary. Here, we sought to elucidate the APN receptor responsible for limiting liver fibrosis by employing AdipoR1 and AdipoR2 knock-out mice in the carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) model of liver fibrosis. In addition, we knocked down receptor function in primary hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) in vitro. Following the development of fibrosis, AdipoR1 and AdipoR2 KO mice had no quantitative difference in fibrosis by Sirius red staining. However, AdipoR2 KO mice had an enhanced fibrotic signature with increased Col1-α1, TGFß-1, TIMP-1, IL-10, MMP-2 and MMP-9. Knockdown of AdipoR1 or AdipoR2 in HSCs followed by APN treatment demonstrated that AdipoR1 and AdipoR2 did not affect proliferation or TIMP-1 gene expression, while AdipoR2 modulated Col1-α1 and α-SMA gene expression, HSC migration, and AMPK activity. These finding suggest that AdipoR2 is the major APN receptor on HSCs responsible for mediating its anti-fibrotic effects.  相似文献

Bone loss or osteoporosis, is a slow-progressing disease that results from dysregulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines. The FDA has approved number of drugs for bone loss prevention, nonetheless all are expensive and have multiple side effects. The nutraceuticals identified from dietary agents such as butein, cardamonin, coronarin D curcumin, diosgenin, embelin, gambogic acid, genistein, plumbagin, quercetin, reseveratrol, zerumbone and more, can modulate cell signaling pathways and reverse/slow down osteoporosis. Most of these nutraceuticals are inexpensive; show no side effect while still possessing anti-inflammatory properties. This review provides various mechanisms of osteoporosis and how nutraceuticals can potentially prevent the bone loss.  相似文献

It has been suggested that the influence of temperature on the activity of Thiobacillus ferrooxidans is decreased when the cells are immobilized. This is contrary to normal expectations and the work presented here indicates that it is not, in fact, the case. Experimental results are presented which show that the kinetics of Fe(II) oxidation by biofilms at 30°C are significantly faster than those at 20°C. Temperature, therefore, plays an important role in the activity of T. ferrooxidans, even in the immobilized form, and results indicate that it can also be used to control the level of biomass within the immobilized cell bioreactor.  相似文献

The microfloral and microfaunal assemblages of the MFZ11 foraminiferal biozone (late early SomervilleViséan; formerly V2a) are well developed in the Kiyasar section of the Sari area (central Alborz; northern Iran). Regionally, this biozone MFZ11 may be subdivided into three subzones. The lower subzone, MFZ11A, is characterized by the appearances of the algae Koninckopora tenuiramosa, coeloporellacean indet. Fourstonella fusiformis, and Nanopora anglica and, among the foraminifers, by the occurrence of Ammarchaediscus bozorgniai and the disappearance of Eoparastaffella simplex; the absence of Uralodiscus rotundus, U. spp., and primitive Glomodiscus spp. in this subzone is noticeable. The next subzone, MFZ11B1, is well characterized by the appearance of Glomodiscus spp. (G. oblongus and G. cf. miloni) and the local range zone of Pararchaediscus, a genus emended herein and interpreted as a junior synonym of Archaediscus at the involutus stage and Propermodiscus; only a few characteristic issinellacean and palaeoberesellacean algae are present in this subzone. Then, the last subzone, MFZ11B2, is characterized by Hemiarchaediscus (emended herein) and Glomodiscus miloni; the upper part of this latter subzone is only marked by the apparent absence of the archaediscids and the presence of two incertae sedis algae: Crassikamaena scabrosa and Epistacheoides bozorgniai nov. sp. These assemblages indicate that at that time, Alborz remained located on the Perigondwanan southern border of the Palaeotethys, and was probably connected with the Urals as well as the northwestern branch the Palaeotethys, from Belgium to the Donets Basin.  相似文献

Modern powerful techniques in plant biotechnology have been developed in lilies (Lilium spp., Liliaceae) to propagate, improve and make new phenotypes. Reliable in vitro culture methods are available to multiply lilies rapidly and shorten breeding programs. Lilium is also an ideal model plant to study in vitro pollination and embryo rescue methods. Although lilies are recalcitrant to genetic manipulation, superior genotypes are developed with improved flower colour and form, disease resistance and year round forcing ability. Different DNA molecular markers have been developed for rapid indirect selection, genetic diversity evaluation, mutation detection and construction of Lilium linkage map. Some disease resistance-QTLs are already mapped on the Lilium linkage map. This review presents latest information on in vitro propagation, genetic engineering and molecular advances made in lily.  相似文献

Resistance to antimicrobial agents is a concern that exists globally and has a considerable impact on human and animal health, so that the discovery of new antibacterial compounds has become increasingly more important in combating infectious disease. In this paper, imidazo[4,5-a]quinindolines are introduced as new antibacterial agents against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. These pentacyclic compounds are synthesized by the reaction of N-alkyl-5-nitrobenzimidazoles with 2-(1-alkyl-1H-3-indolyl)acetonitrile under basic conditions in excellent yields. The structures of newly synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and mass spectral data. The antibacterial activities of the synthesized compounds were screened against standard strains of two Gram-positive and two Gram-negative bacteria using the broth microdilution method. Most of the compounds studied showed promising activities against both types of bacteria.  相似文献
