Abstract

The checklist comprises all species of six families of Iranian aquatic Polyphaga (Coleoptera). In total, 43 species/subspecies within the families, Georissidae (one species), Helophoridae (25 species and two subspecies), Hydrochidae (three species), Spercheidae (one species), Curculionidae (nine species) and Erirhinidae (two species) are listed for the fauna of Iran. Helophorus (Rhopalohelophorus) nanus Sturm, 1836 Sturm, J. (1836), Deulschlands Fauna in Abbildungen nach der Natur mit Beschreibungen. V. Abtheilung. Die Inseclen. Zehntes Bändchen. Degeneration of intervertebral disk (IVD) has been increased in recent years. The lumbar herniation can be cured using conservative and surgical procedures. Surgery is considered after failure of conservative treatment. Partial discectomy, fusion, and total disk replacement (TDR) are also common surgical treatments for degenerative disk disease. However, due to limitations and disadvantages of the current treatments, many studies have been carried out to approach the best design of mimicking natural disk. Recently, a new method of TDRs has been introduced using nature deformation of IVD by reinforced fibers of annulus fibrosis. Nonetheless, owing to limitations of experimental works on the human body, numerical studies of IVD may help to understand load transfer and biomechanical properties within the disks with reinforced fibers. In this study, a three-dimensional (3D) finite element model of the L2-L3 disk vertebrae unit with 12 vertical fibers embedded into annulus fibrosis was constructed. The IVD was subjected to compressive force, bending moment, and axial torsion. The most important parameters of disk failures were compared to that of experimental data. The results showed that the addition of reinforced fibers into the disk invokes a significant decrease of stress in the nucleus and annulus. The findings of this study may have implications not only for developing IVDs with reinforced fibers but also for the application of fiber reinforced IVD in orthopedics surgeries as a suitable implant.  相似文献

The formation of vascular networks consisting of arteries, capillaries, and veins is vital in embryogenesis. It is also crucial in adulthood for the formation of a functional vasculature. Cerebral arteriovenous malformations (CAVMs) are linked with a remarkable risk of intracerebral hemorrhage because arterial blood is directly shunted into the veins before the arterial blood pressure is dissipated. The underlying mechanisms responsible for arteriovenous malformation (AVM) growth, progression, and rupture are not fully known, yet the critical role of inflammation in AVM pathogenesis has been noted. The proinflammatory cytokines are upregulated in CAVM, which stimulates overexpression of cell adhesion molecules in endothelial cells (ECs), leading to improved leukocyte recruitment. It is well-known that metalloproteinase-9 secretion by leukocytes disrupts CAVM walls resulting in rupture. Moreover, inflammation alters the angioarchitecture of CAVMs by upregulating angiogenic factors impacting the apoptosis, migration, and proliferation of ECs. A better understanding of the molecular signature of CAVM might allow us to identify biomarkers predicting this complication, acting as a goal for further investigations that may be potentially targeted in gene therapy. The present review is focused on the numerous studies conducted on the molecular signature of CAVM and the associated hemorrhage. The association of numerous molecular signatures with a higher risk of CAVM rupture is shown through inducing proinflammatory mediators, as well as growth factors signaling, Ras-mitogen-activated protein kinase-extracellular signal-regulated kinase, and NOTCH pathways, which are accompanied by cellular level inflammation and endothelial alterations resulting in vascular wall instability. According to the studies, it is assumed that matrix metalloproteinase, interleukin-6, and vascular endothelial growth factor are the biomarkers most associated with CAVM and the rate of hemorrhage, as well as diagnostic methods, with respect to enhancing the patient-specific risk estimation and improving treatment choices.  相似文献

Monitoring of toxic trace elements for human blood has been of interest to researchers in the fields of environmental chemistry and medical science. The amount of blood toxic elements can reflect the disease state of the person or the environment where that person resides or works. Chronic, low-level exposure to toxic metals such as lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), and mercury (Hg) is an increasing global problem. This study focuses on obtaining the usual value of Pb, Cd, and Hg in normal human blood. These elements were determined in 61 male and 40 female volunteers resident in Tehran (Iran). The subjects were non-drug abusers and aged 6-62 years old. Procedures were developed for the collection, storage, and preanalytical treatment of samples. The lead and cadmium were determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry, and mercury was measured by cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry technique. The blood levels of Pb, Cd, and Hg in normal volunteers living in Tehran were 123.75 +/- 56.42, 1.82 +/- 0.67, and 8.48 +/- 4.42 microg/L. There was no significant gender-related difference in blood Cd and Hg concentrations (p < 0.06 and p < 0.41). However, the results indicated significantly higher content of Pb in blood of males compared to females (138.11 +/- 65.43 and 101.84 +/- 51.38 microg/L, respectively, p < 0.05).  相似文献

Muscle stem cells (MuSCs) are requisite for skeletal muscle regeneration and homeostasis. Proper functioning of MuSCs, including activation, proliferation, and fate decision, is determined by an orchestrated series of events and communication between MuSCs and their niche. A multitude of biochemical stimuli are known to regulate MuSC fate and function. However, in addition to biochemical factors, it is conceivable that MuSCs are subjected to mechanical forces during muscle stretch-shortening cycles because of myofascial connections between MuSCs and myofibers. MuSCs respond to mechanical forces in vitro, but it remains to be proven whether physical forces are also exerted on MuSCs in their native niche and whether they contribute to the functioning and fate of MuSCs. MuSC deformation in their native niche resulting from mechanical loading of ex vivo myofiber bundles was visualized utilizing mT/mG double-fluorescent Cre-reporter mouse and multiphoton microscopy. MuSCs were subjected to 1 h pulsating fluid shear stress (PFSS) with a peak shear stress rate of 6.5 Pa/s. After PFSS treatment, nitric oxide, messenger RNA (mRNA) expression levels of genes involved in regulation of MuSC proliferation and differentiation, ERK 1/2, p38, and AKT activation were determined. Ex vivo stretching of extensor digitorum longus and soleus myofiber bundles caused compression as well as tensile and shear deformation of MuSCs in their niche. MuSCs responded to PFSS in vitro with increased nitric oxide production and an upward trend in iNOS mRNA levels. PFSS enhanced gene expression of c-Fos, Cdk4, and IL-6, whereas expression of Wnt1, MyoD, Myog, Wnt5a, COX2, Rspo1, Vangl2, Wnt10b, and MGF remained unchanged. ERK 1/2 and p38 MAPK signaling were also upregulated after PFSS treatment. We conclude that MuSCs in their native niche are subjected to force-induced deformations due to myofiber stretch-shortening. Moreover, MuSCs are mechanoresponsive, as evidenced by PFSS-mediated expression of factors by MuSCs known to promote proliferation.  相似文献

Despite reduction in environmental lead, chronic lead exposure still possess a public health hazard, particularly in children, with devastating effects on developing CNS. To investigate the mechanism of this neurotoxicity, young and adult rats were used to study whether exposure to 500 ppm concentrations of lead could induce apoptosis in hippocampus. 2–4 and 12–14-week-old rats received lead acetate in concentration of 500 ppm for 40 days. Control animals received deionized distilled water. In lead-treated groups, the blood lead levels were increased by 3–4 folds. Light and electron microscopical study of hippocampus revealed increased apoptotic cells. Western blot analysis of Bax and Bcl-2 (pro- and anti-apoptotic gene products, respectively) indicated higher expression of Bax protein and no significant change in bcl-2 expression and accordingly increased the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio compared to control group, confirming the histological study. In conclusion, these data suggest that neurotoxicity of chronic lead exposure in hippocampus in vivo may partly be due to facilitation of apoptosis.  相似文献

We report the synthesis and characterization of amino acid ester based chiral ionic liquids, derived from L- and D-alanine tert butyl ester chloride. The synthesis was accomplished via an anion metathesis reaction between commercially available L- and D-alanine tert butyl ester chloride using a variety of counterions such as lithium bis (trifluoromethane) sulfonimide, silver nitrate, silver lactate, and silver tetrafluoroborate. Both enantiomeric forms were obtained as confirmed by bands of opposite sign in the circular dichroism spectra. The L- and D-alanine tert butyl ester bis (trifluoromethane) sulfonimide were obtained as liquids at room temperature and intriguingly exhibited the highest thermal stability (up to 263 degrees C). In addition, the ionic liquids demonstrated enantiomeric recognition ability as evidenced by splitting of racemic Mosher's sodium salt signal using a liquid state (19)F nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and fluorescence spectroscopy. The L- and D-alanine tert butyl ester chloride resulted in solid salts with nitrate, lactate, and tetrafluoroborate anions. This illustrates the previously observed tunability of ionic liquid synthesis, resulting in ionic liquids of varying properties as a function of varying the anion.  相似文献

CuO nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) serve several important functions in human life, particularly in the fields of medicine, engineering, and technology. These nanoparticles have been utilized as catalysts, semiconductors, sensors, gaseous and solid ceramic pigments, and magnet rotatable devices. Further use for CuO-NPs has been employed in the pharmaceutical industry especially in the production of anti-microbial fabric treatments or prevention of infections caused by Escherichia coli and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Two key potential routes of exposure to CuO-NPs exist through inhalation and skin exposure. Toxicity of these nanoparticles has been reported in various studies; however, no study as of yet has investigated the complete cellular mechanisms involved in CuO-NPs toxicity on human cells. The aim of this study was to determine the cytotoxicity of CuO-NPs on human blood lymphocytes. Blood lymphocytes were obtained from healthy male subjects through the use of Ficoll polysaccharide subsequently by gradient centrifugation. The following parameters were assayed in blood lymphocytes after a 6-h incubation with different concentrations of CuO-NPs: cell viability, reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation, lipid peroxidation, cellular glutathione levels, and mitochondrial and lysosomal damage. Our results demonstrate that CuO-NPs, in particular, decreased cell viability in a concentration-dependent manner and the IC50 determined was 382 μM. CuO-NP cytotoxicity was associated with significant increase at intracellular ROS level and loss of mitochondrial membrane potential and lysosomal membrane leakiness. Hence, CuO-NPs are shown to effectively induce oxidative stress in addition to inflict damage on mitochondria and lysosomes in human blood lymphocytes.  相似文献

Phytic acid or phytate, the free‐acid form of myo‐inositolhexakiphosphate, is abundant in many seeds and fruits, where it represents the major storage form of phosphorus. Although also known from other plant tissues, available reports on the occurrence of phytic acid, e.g. in leaves, have never been compiled, nor have they been critically reviewed. We found 45 published studies with information on phytic acid content in leaves. Phytic acid was almost always detected when studies specifically tried to detect it, and accounted for up to 98% of total P. However, we argue that such extreme values, which rival findings from storage organs, are dubious and probably result from measurement errors. Excluding these high values from further quantitative analysis, foliar phytic acid‐P averaged 2.3 mg·g?1, and represented, on average, 7.6% of total P. Remarkably, the ratio of phytic acid‐P to total P did not increase with total P, we even detected a negative correlation of the two variables within one species, Manihot esculenta. This enigmatic finding warrants further attention.  相似文献

There are controversial results related to the contribution of insertion (I)/deletion (D) polymorphism of the angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) in the development of diabetic nephropathy. To assess the distribution of this polymorphism in diabetic patients with and without nephropathy we studied 140 unrelated type 2 diabetic patients from the Kermanshah Province of Iran with ethnic background of Kurds including 68 patients with macroalbuminuria and 72 normoalbuinuric diabetic patients as controls. Genotyping was done by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The frequency of D allele in nephropathic and normoalbuminuric patients were 69.1 and 58.3%, respectively (P = 0.061). In individuals with DD genotype the risk of macroalbuminuria increased 2.87-fold (P = 0.057). Significant lower level of serum ACE activity was found in the normoalbuminuric (59.76 IU/l) compared to macroalbuminuric (97.43 IU/l) patients. The serum ACE activity was significantly higher in macroalbuminuric patients with ID (105.7 IU/l) and ID + DD (100.7 IU/l) genotypes compared to normoalbuminuric patients with the same genotypes (63.5 and 64.2 IU/l, respectively). Treatment with captopril significantly (P = 0.045) reduced the serum ACE activity in normoalbuminuric patients with DD genotype compared to macroalbuminuric patients with the same genotype (33.6 vs. 73.8 IU/l). However, the greatest benefit effect of losartan therapy on ACE activity was observed only in macroalbuminuric patients with DD genotype compared to that in normoalbuminuric patients (61.0 vs. 109.0 IU/l, P = 0.06). Our study suggests the importance of ethnic origin in the development of diabetic nephropathy and demonstrates different responses to therapy according to genotype and stage of diabetes.  相似文献
