ABSTRACT: The differences between invasive lobular and ductal carcinomas affect the diagnostic and therapeutic management for patients with breast cancer. In most cases, this can be accomplished because of distinct histomorphologic features. However, occasionally, this task may become quite difficult, in particular when dealing with the variants of infiltrating lobular carcinoma. Lobular carcinoma has been considered a variant of mucin-secreting carcinoma with only intracytoplasmic mucin. The presence of extracellular mucin is a feature of ductal carcinoma. Herein is presented a case of lobular carcinoma with extracellular and intracellular mucin in a 43-year-old female patient, and confirmed by immunohistochemistry. Up to the present, infiltrating lobular carcinoma displaying extracellular mucin has not been described in the literature except two case. The ongoing Covid-19 is a contagious disease, and it is characterised by different symptoms such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Rising concerns about Covid-19 have severely affected the healthcare system in all countries as the Covid-19 outbreak has developed at a rapid rate all around the globe. Intriguing, a clinically used drug, acetazolamide (a specific inhibitor of carbonic anhydrase, CA, EC 4.2.1.1), is used to treat high-altitude pulmonary oedema (HAPE), showing a high degree of clinical similarities with the pulmonary disease caused by Covid-19. In this context, this preliminary study aims to provide insights into some factors affecting the Covid-19 patients, such as hypoxaemia, hypoxia as well as the blood CA activity. We hypothesise that patients with Covid-19 problems could show a dysregulated acid–base status influenced by CA activity. These preliminary results suggest that the use of CA inhibitors as a pharmacological treatment for Covid-19 may be beneficial. 相似文献

tests as well as 16S rDNA sequences, microbiota was identified as Leclercia adecarboxylata (Ld1), Acinetobacter sp. (Ld2), Acinetobacter sp. (Ld3), Pseudomonas putida (Ld4), Acinetobacter sp. (Ld5) and Acinetobacter haemolyticus (Ld6). The insecticidal activities of isolates at 1.8×109 bacteria/mL dose within five days were 100%, 100%, 35%, 100%, 47% and 100%, respectively, against the L. decemlineata larvae. The results indicate that Leclercia adecarboxylata (Ld1) and Pseudomonas putida (Ld4) isolates may be valuable potential biological control agents for biological control of L. decemlineata. 相似文献

AbstractIntroduction: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a standard surgical treatment method which is generally applied to subthalamic nucleus in Parkinson’s patients in cases where medical treatment is insufficient in treating the motor symptoms. It is known that Subthalamic Nucleus Deep Brain Stimulation (STN-DBS) treats many motor symptoms. However, the results of studies on speech and voice vary. The aim of the study is analysing the effect of STN-DBS on the characteristics of voice.Materials/methods: A total of 12 patients, (8 male–4 female) with an age average of 58.8?±?9.6, who have been applied DBS surgery on STN included in the study. The voice recordings of the patients have been done prior to surgery and 6?months after the surgery. The evaluation of voice has been carried out through the instrumental method. The patients’ voice recordings of the /a,e,i/ vowels have been done. The obtained recordings were evaluated by the Praat programme and the effects on jhitter, shimmer, fundamental frequency (F0) and noise harmonic rate (NHR) were analysed.Results: Numerical values of F0 of all female participants have been decreased for all of the vowels postoperatively. In the females; jhitter and fraction parameters were found to be significantly different (0.056 and 0.017, perspectively) for the vowel /e/. In addition, p values in the shimmer for vowels /e,i/ were thought to be clinically significant (.087, .079 and .076) respectively. All these changes in second measurements were found to indicate worsening vocal quality after the DBS in females. In males, there is not any significant difference observed between two measures in any of the parameters of any vowels.Conclusions: Acoustic voice quality deteriorated after STN-DBS predominantly for females however this deterioration was not prominent audio-perceptually. The aim of this study was to investigate the difference in the serum malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione (GSH), and nitric oxide (NO) levels between normal and T. gondii-infected patients. To this end, MDA, GSH, and NO levels in the sera of 37 seropositive patients and 40 participants in the control group were evaluated. In Toxoplasma ELISA, IgG results of the patient group were 1,013.0 ± 543.8 in optical density (mean ± SD). A statistically significant difference was found between patients and the control group in terms of MDA, GSH, and NO levels. A decrease in GSH activity was detected, while MDA and NO levels increased significantly. Consequently, it is suggested that the use of antioxidant vitamins in addition to a parasite treatment shall prove useful. The high infection vs control ratio of MDA and NO levels probably suggests the occurrence as a mechanism of tissue damage in cases of chronic toxoplasmosis. Moreover, it is recommended that the patient levels of MDA, GSH, and NO should be evaluated in toxoplasmosis. 相似文献

Objective: Thiol-disulphide homeostasis (TDH) has a critical role in various clinical disorders. We aimed to assess the association of TDH with acute tonsillopharyngitis (AT) in children.Methods: This study included 94 (73 viral and 21 bacterial) tonsillopharyngitis patients and 88 control children. Their native thiol, total thiol, and disulphide levels were measured.Results: Viral and bacterial tonsillopharyngitis patients had lower native thiol levels compared with healthy children (P?0.001 and P?=?0.008, respectively). Both groups had lower total thiol levels compared with control children (P?=?0.002 for viral, P?=?0.011 for bacterial). The disulphide levels were lower in bacterial than in viral tonsillopharyngitis patients (P?=?0.04), and there was a significant difference between viral tonsillopharyngitis patients and the control group (P?0.001). The native/total thiol ratio in each patient group was lower than in the control group (P?0.001 for viral, P?=?0.017 for bacterial). The disulphide/native thiol and disulphide/total thiol ratios were significantly higher in viral (P?0.001 for both) and bacterial tonsillopharyngitis patients (P?=?0.017 for both) than in healthy children. In all patients, a correlation was found between the levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and native thiol (r?=??0.211, P?=?0.04), CRP and total thiol (r?=??0.217, P?=?0.036), white blood cell (WBC) and native thiol (r?=??0.228, P?=?0.002), WBC and total thiol (r?=??0.191, P?=?0.01), and WBC and disulphide (r?=?0.160, P?=?0.03).Discussion: TDH is altered in AT in children.
