Distinct types of oogonia are found in the germinal epithelium that borders the ovarian lamellae of Pimelodus maculatus: A‐undifferentiated, A‐differentiated and B‐oogonia. This is similar to the situation observed for spermatogonia in the vertebrate testis. The single A‐undifferentiated oogonia divide by mitosis giving rise to A‐groups of single differentiated oogonia, each enclosed by epithelial cells that are prefollicle cells. Subsequently, the single A‐differentiated oogonia proliferate to generate B‐oogonia that are interconnected by cytoplasmic bridges, hence, forming germline cysts. The prefollicle cells associated with them also divide. Within the germline cysts, B‐oogonia enter meiosis becoming oocytes. Meiotic prophase and early folliculogenesis occur within the germline cysts. During folliculogenesis, prefollicle cells grow between the oocytes, encompassing and individualizing each of them. The intercellular bridges disappear, and the germline cysts are broken down. Next, a basement membrane begins to form around the nascent follicle, separating an oocyte and its associated prefollicle cells from the cell nest. Folliculogenesis is completed when the oocyte and the now follicle cells are totally encompassed by a basement membrane. Cells derived from the ovarian stroma encompass the newly‐formed ovarian follicle, and become the theca, thereby completing the formation of the follicle complex. Follicle complexes remain attached to the germinal epithelium as they share a portion of basement membrane. This attachment site is where the oocyte is released during ovulation. The postovulatory follicle complex is continuous with the germinal epithelium as both are supported by a continuous basement membrane. The findings in P. maculatus reinforce the hypothesis that ovarian follicle formation represents a conserved process throughout vertebrate evolution. J. In this study, 123 unrelated Portuguese Gypsies were analyzed for 15 highly polymorphic autosomal short tandem repeats (STRs). Average gene diversity across the 15 markers was 76.7%, which is lower than that observed in the non‐Gypsy Portuguese population. Subsets of STRs were used to perform comparisons with other Gypsy and corresponding host populations. Interestingly, diversity reduction in Gypsy groups compared to their non‐Gypsy surrounding populations apparently varied according to an East‐West gradient, which parallels their dispersion in Europe as well as a decrease in complexity of their internal structure. Analysis of genetic distances revealed that the average level of genetic differentiation between Gypsy groups was much larger than that observed between the corresponding non‐Gypsy populations. The high rate of heterogeneity among Gypsies can be explained by strong genetic drift and limited intergroup gene flow. However, when genetic relationships were addressed through principal component analysis, all Gypsy populations clustered together and was clearly distinguished from other populations, a pattern that suggests their common origin. Concerning the putative ancestral genetic component, admixture analysis did not reveal strong Indian ancestry in the current Gypsy gene pools, in contrast to the high admixture estimates for either Europeans or Western Asians. We describe a fast, automated process to determine distances between mtDNA sequences allowing their subsequent clustering and haplogroup assignment that may increase the speed of data analysis and avoid human errors.In order to avoid complexities/ambiguities resulting from recurrence and insertion/deletion phenomena and thus improving evolutionary signal-to-noise ratio, protein coding sequences were compared using a vectorial representation method, and the corresponding genetic distance matrix was used for the construction of a neighbor-joining/UPGMA tree or an MDS graphic, which generally agrees with the consensus mtDNA phylogeny.mtDNAoffice software, detailed instructions and example files are freely available on the web at http://www.portugene.com/SupMat/setupmtDNAoffice.rar.  相似文献

Abstract

Sinusichnus Gibert 1996 Gibert, J. M. d. 1996. “A New Decapod Burrow System from the NW Mediterranean Pliocene.” Revista Española de Paleontología 11: 251254. [Google Scholar] is recorded for the first time in the Oligocene-Miocene Pirabas Formation of Northern Brazil. In these Oligocene-Miocene carbonate deposits, Sinusichnus sinuosus is characterized by horizontal, highly regular sinusoidal burrow systems with T- and H-shaped branching points. The main difference between the S. sinuosus described herein and other occurrences worldwide is the anomalous diameter of the burrows (4 to 10?cm). These trace fossils occur in organic matter-rich, wackestone/packstone and laminated mudstones interbedded with boundstones deposited in an inner carbonate platform paleoenvironment. The exceptional size of the studied S. sinuosus could have been associated to the producer’s size, which may be attributed to construction by large crustaceans, similar to fossils found within the Pirabas Formation. Also, the sinusoidal morphology and retrusive spreiten could be a result of the fodinichnial/domichnial behavior.  相似文献

The present work investigated the effect of the interval of serial sections of ovarian tissue on the number of isolated preantral follicles in the goat. Goat ovaries were cut in the tissue chopper at eight different intervals. The quality of isolated follicles were evaluated by histology and transmission electron microscopy. Best results were obtained when the ovaries were cut in the tissue chopper at intervals of 75.0 microm (9664 preantral follicles per ovary). Histochemical and ultrastructural analysis showed that the follicular morphology was preserved after mechanical isolation as demonstrated by the normality of oocytes and granulosa cells as well as by preservation of basement membrane. The percentages of isolated primordial, primary and secondary follicles were 96.3%, 2.5%, and 1.2% and their average diameters were 21.5, 34.7 and 65.3 microm, respectively. It was concluded that the interval of serial sections of ovarian tissue in the tissue chopper affects the number of isolated preantral follicles, and that the follicles remained intact after mechanical isolation in goats.  相似文献
