The effect of pond pollution with lead- and iron-containing alloys on the morphogenesis of brown frog (Rana temporaria), moor frog (Rana arvalis), and common toad (Bufo bufo) tadpoles was studied in simulation experiments. Observations showed that metal particles were ingested by tadpoles and produced a significant effect on their body dimensions. Tadpoles developing in water polluted with iron had an increased body size, while lead pollution resulted in retarded growth of tadpoles, and they were significantly smaller than in the control group. However, water pollution with metal alloys had no effect on the proportionality of their development.  相似文献

Background

Extrapleural Solitary Fibrous tumors (SFTs) have been increasingly reported. The retroperitoneum, deep soft tissues of proximal extremities, abdominal cavity, trunk, head and neck are the most common extraserosal locations reported. Microscopically they show a wide range of morphological features, and so the differential diagnosis is extensive. Immunohistochemically, they commonly express CD34, vimentin, bcl-2 and CD99. Epithelial membrane antigen (EMA) and smooth muscle actin (SMA) may occasionally be expressed. Epithelioid morphology in extrapleural SFT has only very occasionally been described (five cases reported), some of them with biphasic pattern and others with malignant characteristics.

Case presentation

A SFT of the thigh with epithelioid areas in a 63 year old woman is reported. Microscopically the tumor showed areas hypo and hipercellular. At the periphery of the hipercellular areas there were nodules composed of epithelioid cells. Immunohistochemically both the spindle and epithelioid cells were positive for CD34, vimentin, bcl-2 and CD99. Epithelial, neural and muscular markers were negative. Molecular study was done and ruled out a synovial sarcoma.

Conclusion

Ten cases of SFT of the thigh have been reported but to our knowledge this is the first case with epithelioid morphology affecting the extremities. Identification of this pattern of SFT is of importance, to avoid misdiagnosis with other more aggressive conditions in soft tissue.

The reiterative organogenesis that drives plant growth relies on the constant production of new cells, which remain encased by interconnected cell walls. For these reasons, plant morphogenesis strictly depends on the rate and orientation of both cell division and cell growth. Important progress has been made in recent years in understanding how cell cycle progression and the orientation of cell divisions are coordinated with cell and organ growth and with the acquisition of specialized cell fates. We review basic concepts and players in plant cell cycle and division, and then focus on their links to growth-related cues, such as metabolic state, cell size, cell geometry, and cell mechanics, and on how cell cycle progression and cell division are linked to specific cell fates. The retinoblastoma pathway has emerged as a major player in the coordination of the cell cycle with both growth and cell identity, while microtubule dynamics are central in the coordination of oriented cell divisions. Future challenges include clarifying feedbacks between growth and cell cycle progression, revealing the molecular basis of cell division orientation in response to mechanical and chemical signals, and probing the links between cell fate changes and chromatin dynamics during the cell cycle.

Plant cell cycle and division are linked to specific cell fates and respond to growth-related cues, such as metabolic state, cell size, cell shape, and mechanical stress.  相似文献

Aims: To design a primer set enabling the identification through PCR of high‐quality DNA for routine and high‐throughput genomic screening of a diverse range of cyanobacteria. Methods and Results: A codon‐equivalent multiple alignment of the phycocyanin alpha‐subunit coding sequence (cpcA) of 22 cyanobacteria was generated and analysed to produce a single degeneracy primer set with virtually uniform product size. Also, an 18S ribosomal RNA detection set is proposed for rejecting false positives. The primer sets were tested against five diverse cyanobacteria, Chlorella vulgaris, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and Escherichia coli. All five cyanobacteria showed positive amplification of cpcA product with homogeneous fragment length, and no products were observed for any other organism. Additionally, the only product formation observed for the 18S rRNA set was in C. vulgaris and S. cerevisiae. Conclusions: The newly proposed primer set served as effective check primers for cyanobacteria. Cyanobacteria gDNA had a positive, homogenous result, while other bacteria, eukaryotes and alga tested were negative. Significance and Impact of the Study: These novel, broad‐spectrum primers will greatly increase the utility of PCR on newly discovered cyanobacterial species.  相似文献

Propolis is a multi-functional bee product rich in polyphenols. In this study, the inhibitory effect of Anatolian propolis against SARS-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) was investigated in vitro and in silico. Raw and commercial propolis samples were used, and both samples were found to be rich in caffeic acid, p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid, t-cinnamic acid, hesperetin, chrysin, pinocembrin, and caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) at HPLC-UV analysis. Ethanolic propolis extracts (EPE) were used in the ELISA screening test against the spike S1 protein (SARS-CoV-2): ACE-2 interaction for in vitro study. The binding energy values of these polyphenols to the SARS-CoV-2 spike and ACE-2 protein were calculated separately with a molecular docking study using the AutoDock 4.2.6 program. In addition, the pharmacokinetics and drug-likeness properties of these eight polyphenols were calculated according to the SwissADME tool. The binding energy value of pinocembrin was highest in both receptors, followed by chrysin, CAPE, and hesperetin. Based on the in silico modeling and ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion) behaviors of the eight polyphenols, the compounds exhibited the potential ability to act effectively as novel drugs. The findings of both studies showed that propolis has a high inhibitory potential against the Covid-19 virus. However, further studies are now needed.  相似文献
