Oil content and fatty acid composition were investigated on 12 castor varieties and strains by using the soxhlet extraction method and capillary gas chromatography. This was made to provide a reference and theoretical basis for castorbean breeding with high oil content, determine variability of seed compounds for breeding purposes, and broaden chemical material choices. Results revealed that crude fat percentage in seeds ranged from 18.91 to 35.84% with an average of 25.91%; the absolute content of ricinoleic acid varied between 171.65 g/kg and 314.03 g/kg with an average of 222.43 g/kg, and kernel crude fat percentage was between 24.28 and 46.97% with an average of 34.30%. All these study variables were highest in the 2129 strain. The percentage of ricinoleic acid in crude fat was between 83.85 to 87.62%, and the highest value was found in the zhebi4 accession. The other fatty acids appeared in small concentrations, and showed small amplitude: 1.12 to 1.61%, 1.21 to 1.61%, 3.53 to 4.80%, 5.35 to 6.38%, 0.52 to 0.79%, 0.05 to 0.08% and 0.43 to 0.55%, for palmitic, stearic, oleic, linolic, linolenic, arachidic, and arachidonic acids, respectively. One hundred seed weight was determined for each accession. One hundred seed weight ranged from 25.7 g to 34.0 g with an average of 29.9 g. There was a significant correlation between seed weight and oil content, but the correlation value was low (r=0.51). Cluster analysis by SSPS based on the content of fatty acid composition revealed that the accessions were divided into three independent clusters. These findings will clearly provide useful information for further research in breeding and utilization of castor oil.  相似文献

The relaxation rates (1 / T 1 and 1 / T 2) in cysts have already been analyzed in terms of materials such as albumin, cholesterol, manganese, iron, and copper. However, the relaxivities of these materials have not been determined yet. In this work, five sets containing the ions, albumin, and cholesterol were prepared by addition of increasing concentration of one material to each set. The relaxation times in these sets were measured by MRI, and the relaxation rates were fitted versus concentrations. The slopes of the fits were used as relaxivities. The (r 1, r 2) values of manganese, iron, and copper in mM−1 s−1, and those of albumin and cholesterol in (g/dl)−1 s−1 were found to be (32.64, 89.77), (0.31, 1.19), (0.5, 1.479), (0.01, 0.066) and (0.03, 0.458), respectively. The r 2/r 1 ratio ranged from 2.75 to 15.27. Manganese is an efficient relaxer, but iron and copper are poor ones. Albumin and cholesterol are efficient relaxers for only T 2. The contribution of water associated with native manganese of the cystic fluid to T 1 was 0.268 s−1, whereas those of water associated with native manganese, albumin, cholesterol, and iron to T 2 were 0.736, 0.185, 0.092, and 0.076 s−1, respectively. The other contributions were much smaller than 0.076 s−1. Manganese is most likely the compound altering T 1-weighted images between different jaw cysts, whereas manganese and albumin are most likely the compounds altering the T 2-weighted images. Present data suggest that such alterations may be used to separate jaw cysts from other jaw masses. The high r 2/r 1 suggests that T 2 is a more convenient parameter than T 1 for diagnostic use. The tick Ixodes ricinus is responsible for the transmission of a number of bacterial, protozoan and viral diseases to humans and animals in Europe and Northern Africa. Female I. ricinus from England, Switzerland and Italy have been found to harbour an intracellular alpha-proteobacterium, designated IricES1, within the cells of the ovary. IricES1 is the only prokaryote known to exist within the mitochondria of any animal or multicellular organism. To further examine the distribution, prevalence and mode of transmission of IricES1, we performed polymerase chain reaction screening of I. ricinus adults from 12 countries across its geographic distribution, including tick colonies that have been maintained in the laboratory for varying periods of time. IricES1 was detected in 100% of field-collected female ticks from all countries examined (n = 128), while 44% of males were found to be infected (n = 108). Those males that are infected appear to harbour fewer bacteria than females. Sequencing of fragments of the 16S rRNA and gyrB genes revealed very low nucleotide diversity among various populations of IricES1. Transmission of IricES1 from engorged adult females to eggs was found to be 100% (n = 31). In tick colonies that had been maintained in the laboratory for several years, a relatively low prevalence was found in females (32%; n = 25). To our knowledge, IricES1 is the most widespread and highly prevalent of any tick-associated symbiont.  相似文献

We developed and evaluated the specificity and sensitivity of a loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) method for rapid detection of the multidrug-resistance gene cfr. A pair of outer primers and a pair of inner primers and one loop primer were specially designed for recognizing seven distinct sequences on the target cfr gene. The amplification reaction was performed within only 35 min under isothermal conditions at 63 °C in a regular water bath with visual measurement. The LAMP assay showed higher sensitivity than the conventional PCR, with a detection limit of 1 pg per tube of chicken Staphylococcus sciuri genomic DNA. The detection rate of cfr gene for 50 Staphylococcus clinical strains by LAMP assays was 16% and appeared 100% consistence with the result by PCR method. The LAMP method reported here demonstrated a potential and valuable means for detection of the multidrug-resistance gene cfr: easy, rapid, visual, specific, accurate and sensitive, especially useful for on-the-spot investigation.  相似文献

Achene anatomy and stomatal characteristics of eighteen Crepis taxa from Turkey are here described for the first time. In all taxa examined the pericarp is composed of several layers of sclerenchymatous and parenchymatous cells. As for the achene, differences among taxa mainly concern the pericarp structure and its thickness and width. Stomata are present on both surface of the leaf in all studied taxa and all taxa have anomocytic type stomata. However, the dimensions (length and width) and density of the stomata differ significantly among the studied taxa. In addition, the dimensions of stomata are negatively correlated with stomata density. It is concluded that achene anatomy and stomatal characteristics are useful for delimitation of Crepis taxa and a key to taxa based on these characters is provided. However, based on achene anatomy and stomatal characteristics, we found no argument for an exclusion of the Lagoseris group from Crepis as has previously been proposed.  相似文献

ABSTRACT: INTRODUCTION: Biepicondylar fracture of the elbow is very rare, and to date there have only been three reports of this injury and its treatment in the English scientific literature. This case report evaluates the surgical internal fixation of a biepicondylar fracture of the elbow with an associated dislocation. CASE PRESENTATION: We report the case of a 15-year-old Turkish girl with a biepicondylar fracture dislocation of the left elbow. Open reduction and an internal fixation operation were applied. There were no complications. CONCLUSION: In these injuries, open reduction and internal fixation appear to be a good method to restore elbow stability and function.  相似文献

Higher plant plasma membranes carry receptors of different affinity for the phytotoxin fusicoccin. Reception of fusicoccin involves proteins belonging to the highly conserved 14-3-3 family, but the complete structure of the fusicoccin receptor (FCR) is unknown. Using radiation inactivation analysis, we estimated the molecular masses of low-affinity and high-affinity FCR at 63 +/- 7 and 130 +/- 15 kD, respectively. The dose dependences of receptor inactivation indicate that microsomal specimens contain "silent" FCRs of 420 +/- 90 kD in amounts commensurate with that of the active FCRs. Both low- and high-affinity FCRs are inactivated by hydrolytic enzymes from the outer surface of the plasma membrane, and impairment of protoplast integrity causes an irreversible transition of the low-affinity binding site into the high-affinity one. A scheme is proposed for the organization of different types of FCR in the plasma membrane, implying that the membrane affinity for fusicoccin reflects the interaction between proteins in the FCR complex.  相似文献

Clinical and experimental evidence suggest that increased rates of fatty acid oxidation in the myocardium result in impaired contractile function in both normal and diabetic hearts. Glucose utilization is decreased in type 1 diabetes, and fatty acid oxidation dominates for energy production at the expense of an increase in oxygen requirement. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of chronic treatment with trimetazidine (TMZ) on cardiac mechanical function and fatty acid oxidation in streptozocin (STZ)-diabetic rats. Spontaneously beating hearts from male Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to a 60-minute aerobic perfusion period with a recirculating Krebs-Henseleit solution containing 11 mmol/L glucose, 100 muU/mL insulin, and 0.8 mmol/L palmitate prebound to 3% bovine serum albumin (BSA). Mechanical function of the hearts, as cardiac output x heart rate (in (mL/min).(beats/min).10-2), was deteriorated in diabetic (73 +/- 4) and TMZ-treated diabetic (61 +/- 7) groups compared with control (119 +/- 3) and TMZ-treated controls (131 +/- 6). TMZ treatment increased coronary flow in TMZ-treated control (23 +/- 1 mL/min) hearts compared with untreated controls (18 +/- 1 mL/min). The mRNA expression of 3-ketoacyl-CoA thiolase (3-KAT) was increased in diabetic hearts. The inhibitory effect of TMZ on fatty acid oxidation was not detected at 0.8 mmol/L palmitate in the perfusate. Addition of 1 mumol/L TMZ 30 min into the perfusion did not affect fatty acid oxidation rates, cardiac work, or coronary flow. Our results suggest that higher expression of 3-KAT in diabetic rats might require increased concentrations of TMZ for the inhibitory effect on fatty acid oxidation. A detailed kinetic analysis of 3-KAT using different concentrations of fatty acid will determine the fatty acid inhibitory concentration of TMZ in diabetic state where plasma fatty acid levels are increased.  相似文献
