Summary This study is concerned with electron-microscopic observations on endocrine or paracrine cells in the fundic gastric mucosa of the bullfrog. Also, an attempt was made to identify the histamine-releasing cells involved in the secretagogue response. At least three distinct endocrine-like cell types were found. The classification is based on the appearance of secretory granules and other organelles, and the relationship of endocrine-like cells with other cells in the tissue. The amphibian endocrine-like cells resemble the ECL, D and EC cells of mammals. Type-I (ECL) cells showed degranulation after repeated stimulation with tetragastrin (TG), acetylcholine (ACh) and K+ depolarizing solution, all of which release histamine. 相似文献

Background and aims
In spite of the importance of Retama species for dune stabilization and re-vegetation and the contribution to the bio-fertilization of semi-arid and arid ecosystems, the symbiotic interaction of Retama species with rhizobia remains largely unstudied. In this paper, we aim to provide the first detailed study on nodule morphology and anatomy of Retama monosperma.Methods
We collected nodules from coastal areas nearby Oran (Algeria) and studied in detail their anatomy and ultrastructure by light and electron microscopy.Results
First, we confirmed the likely identity of the microsymbiont as B. retamae and found that nodules of R. monosperma belong to the genistoid type of indeterminate nodules. Infection threads, typical for most nodules of legumes, are absent in nodules of R. monosperma and bacterial spread is associated with plant cell division. The nitrogen fixation zone is homogenous with only invaded cells and a network of non-invaded cells found in many nodules, is absent. Moreover, endoreduplication does not take place in bacteroids in nodules of R. monosperma.Conclusions
The features observed in this study are compared to the morphology and anatomy of nodules of other legumes and the possible consequences for nodule functioning and the mode of infection during the establishment of the interaction are discussed. 相似文献7.

K 562 cells induced to differentiate by sodium butyrate (SB) or 12-O-tetradecanoyl-phorbol-13-acetate (TPA) were studied for their capacities to be bound and killed by large granular lymphocytes (LGL) in a single-cell cytotoxicity assay in agarose. After SB treatment, K 562 cells were less efficient in binding to LGL, whereas the frequency of killer cells among bound LGL was unaffected. When TPA was used to induce K 562 differentiation, the binding of LGL to their target and the lytic efficiency of the bound LGL were both diminished when compared to control K 562 cells. It has been demonstrated that the expression of structures involved in the binding of natural killer (NK) effectors to their targets could be correlated with the target-differentiation stage. Microarrays are powerful tools for high throughput analysis, and hundreds or thousands of molecular interactions can be assessed simultaneously using very small amounts of analytes. Nucleotide microarrays are well established in plant research, but carbohydrate microarrays are much less established, and one reason for this is a lack of suitable glycans with which to populate arrays. Polysaccharide microarrays are relatively easy to produce because of the ease of immobilizing large polymers noncovalently onto a variety of microarray surfaces, but they lack analytical resolution because polysaccharides often contain multiple distinct carbohydrate substructures. Microarrays of defined oligosaccharides potentially overcome this problem but are harder to produce because oligosaccharides usually require coupling prior to immobilization. We have assembled a library of well characterized plant oligosaccharides produced either by partial hydrolysis from polysaccharides or by de novo chemical synthesis. Once coupled to protein, these neoglycoconjugates are versatile reagents that can be printed as microarrays onto a variety of slide types and membranes. We show that these microarrays are suitable for the high throughput characterization of the recognition capabilities of monoclonal antibodies, carbohydrate-binding modules, and other oligosaccharide-binding proteins of biological significance and also that they have potential for the characterization of carbohydrate-active enzymes. 相似文献

Summer-to-autumn flowering chrysanthemums (Dendranthema grandiflora Tzvelev. cv.) are grown outdoors in containers and are characterised by a uniform ball-shaped growth habit. Development of new cultivars expanded the production of marketable plants from end of July until end of October. During the first weeks of the production cycle plants were pinched regular to increase branching but also to prevent development of precocious initiated flowers. This pinching treatment however increases Labour costs and is therefore more and more abandoned. The effectiveness of ethephon for terminal bud destruction was evaluated for three cultivars 'Draga', 'Tardero' and 'Veria Dark'. PLants were sprayed with 0-240-480-1200-2400 mg a.i./l. Ethephon spraying resulted in growth arrest and apical bud necrosis and higher doses resulted in more pronounced reactions. The highest dose (2400 mg a.i./l) resulted in phytotoxicity one week after application; phytotoxicity was more severe in 'Veria Dark' than 'Draga' and 'Tardero'. Ethephon treatments significantly delayed flowering and have potential to be used in commercial production schemes of summer-to-autumn flowering chrysanthemum in outdoor conditions. 相似文献
