This study reports the results of 5 years of monitoring reef fish post-larvae using light traps in the Bay of Tamandaré, north-east Brazil. An annotated checklist of pre-settlement fish species, their frequency of occurrence and taxonomic characteristics are provided. In total, 4,422 post-larval fishes belonging to 36 families, 56 genera and 76 species were captured. The most species-rich families were Carangidae (7), Lutjanidae (6) and Pomacentridae (4), while the families Gerreidae (30.47%), Holocentridae (16.54%), Blenniidae (12.01%), Labrisomidae (8.36%), Lutjanidae (8.29%) and Acanthuridae (5.95%) were the most abundant. This is the first study of the taxonomic diversity and assemblage structure of settlement-stage reef fishes in the tropical south-west Atlantic Ocean. Although a few common species were not captured due to selectivity of light traps, the composition and taxonomic diversity of this first collection suggests that light traps are useful for studies of the early life history of a wide range of pre-settlement reef fishes. 相似文献

采用静态箱-气相色谱法对晚稻田甲烷(CH4)和氧化亚氮(N2O)排放进行田间原位测定。结果表明,有植株参与的稻田CH4排放通量季节变化与地下5cm温度呈显著正相关关系。稻田CH4和N2O季节平均排放通量在有植株参与时分别为1.16±0.38mgm-2h-1和42.33±20.00μgm-2h-1,而无植株参与的分别为0.15±0.11mgm-2h-1和51.69±15.87μgm-2h-1。水稻种植对CH4的排放影响较大,对N2O的排放影响较小,有植株参与的稻田CH4平均排放量显著高于无植株参与的稻田,N2O的平均排放量无显著差异。 相似文献

The Spanish Bonelli's Eagle populations have decreased markedly because of high mortality. We recorded 424 cases of dead eagles between 1990 and 1998 in Spain which after cross-comparison corresponded to 377 individuals. Electrocution (55% of deaths), followed by direct persecution (26%) were the main causes of death. No differences in the cause of death were found between sexes. Non-adult eagles mostly died of electrocution whereas adults were mainly the victims of persecution. A log-linear model showed that these differences were associated with a difference in the spatial distribution of age classes, rather than to age or experience per se. Persecution was the main cause of death in breeding areas and electrocution in non-breeding areas. There were differences between regions: electrocution was the main cause in Catalonia and Central Spain (50% and 86% respectively) whereas direct persecution was the main cause in Levant and Northern Spain (52% and 43% respectively). We recommend that steps are taken in order to reduce eagle mortality, taking into account the differences between regions and areas. 相似文献

Babesia divergens Rouen 1987 was cultivated with a high percentage of parasitized erythrocytes (30–40%) in either RPMI 1640 supplemented by 10% human serum or in a serum-free medium consisting of RPMI 1640 supplemented with 5 g/l Albumax I®. Analysis of serum and Albumax culture supernatants, using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, revealed the presence of at least 10 parasitic exoantigens of B. divergens with molecular weights ranging between 27 and 200 kDa. The gerbils were injected twice, at 3-week intervals, with Albumax culture supernatants or seric culture supernatants. The vaccine doses ranged from 3 μl to 1.5 ml. The highest immunofluorescent antibody titers in gerbils (in 42 days) were obtained using Albumax supernatant and Quil A saponin as adjuvant. Analysis of the gerbil humoral response by immunoprecipitation showed that only three exoantigens were immunodominant: 92 kDa, 50 kDa and 37 kDa proteins. The gerbils were challenged 3 weeks after the last vaccine injection and the maximum protection was observed with vaccine doses ranging from 30 μl to 1.5 ml of culture supernatant and Quil A adjuvant. Albumax medium-derived antigens potentiated better protection at lower dose rates than that of serous medium-derived antigens (for example the gerbil mortality was 0% when they are immunized with 30 μl of Albumax supernatant and 100% with 30 μl of seric supernatant). 相似文献

Ternary compatible blends of chitosan, poly(vinyl alcohol), and poly(lactic acid) were prepared by an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion process. Solutions of chitosan in aqueous acetic acid, poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) in water, and poly(lactic acid) (PLA) in chloroform were blended with a high-shear mixer. PVA was used as an emulsifier to stabilize the emulsion and to reduce the interfacial tension between the solid polymers in the blends produced. It proved to work very well because the emulsions were stable for periods of days or weeks and compatible blends were obtained when PVA was added. This effect was attributed to a synergistic effect of PVA and chitosan because the binary blends PVA/PLA and chitosan/PLA were completely incompatible. The blends were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal mechanical analysis (TMA), stress-strain tests, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Renal aging is characterized by structural changes in the kidney including fibrosis, which contributes to the increased risk of kidney and cardiac failure in the elderly. Studies involving healthy kidney donors demonstrated subclinical age-related nephropathy on renal biopsy that was not detected by standard diagnostic tests. Thus there is a high-priority need for novel noninvasive biomarkers to detect the presence of preclinical age-associated renal structural and functional changes. C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) possesses renoprotective properties and is present in the kidney; however, its modulation during aging remains undefined. We assessed circulating and urinary CNP in a Fischer rat model of experimental aging and also determined renal structural and functional adaptations to the aging process. Histological and electron microscopic analysis demonstrated significant renal fibrosis, glomerular basement membrane thickening, and mesangial matrix expansion with aging. While plasma CNP levels progressively declined with aging, urinary CNP excretion increased, along with the ratio of urinary to plasma CNP, which preceded significant elevations in proteinuria and blood pressure. Also, CNP immunoreactivity was increased in the distal and proximal tubules in both the aging rat and aging human kidneys. Our findings provide evidence that urinary CNP and its ratio to plasma CNP may represent a novel biomarker for early age-mediated renal structural alterations, particularly fibrosis. Thus urinary CNP could potentially aid in identifying subjects with preclinical structural changes before the onset of symptoms and disease, allowing for the initiation of strategies designed to prevent the progression of chronic kidney disease particularly in the aging population. 相似文献
