Previous research has shown that soluble protein recovery by chitosan (Chi) complexes with polyanions such as alginate (Alg) is more effective than using chitosan alone. In this study, Chi-Alg complexes were used to recover soluble proteins from surimi wash water (SWW) slightly acidified to pH 6. Six Chi samples differing in molecular weight (MW) and degree of deacetylation (DD) were used at 20, 40 and 100mg/L SWW Chi-Alg complexes prepared with a Chi:Alg mixing ratio previously optimized (MR=0.2). FTIR analysis of the solids recovered revealed the three characteristic amide bands observed in the same region for untreated SWW confirming protein adsorption by Chi-Alg. The superior effectiveness of Chi complexes was confirmed but differences among chitosan types could not be correlated to MW and DD. Experimental Chi samples with 94%, 93%, 75% and 93% DD and 22, 47, 225 and 3404 x 10(3)Da, respectively, showed 73-76% protein adsorption while a commercial chitosan sample with 84% DD and 3832 x 10(3)Da had 74-83% protein adsorption. An experimental chitosan, SY-1000 with 94% DD and 1.5 x 10(6)Da, showed the highest protein adsorption (79-86%) and turbidity reduction (85-92%) when used at 20mg/L SWW.  相似文献

In the tropics, corticolous lichen richness and cover tend to increase from the trunk base to the top of the crown of trees. In this study we calculated the total beta diversity of the lichen community along a vertical gradient on Quercus laurina in Mexican cloud forest. By comparing the richness and cover of the lichens by zone, we show that foliose and fruticose lichens are a minor component of the total lichen species richness, but have a higher cover than the crustose lichens. Five zones were identified along each phorophyte (n = 15) with a diameter at breast height >40 cm. A total of 92 species were identified. Of these, 38% were found only in a single zone, 51% were shared between the different zones and 11% occurred across all zones. Species richness and cover increased from the lowest to the highest zones of the phorophytes. Dissimilarity in species composition between the zones could be explained by species replacement. An indicator species analysis revealed that only a few species, e.g. Hypotrachyna vexans, H. cf. sublaevigata and Ramalina cf. sinaloensis prefer a particular zone. The results show that the lichen community associated with Quercus laurina phorophytes is highly diverse and suggest that species richness and cover are related to the zone and the various growth forms.  相似文献

Spathacanthus magdalenae Cast.‐Campos (Acanthaceae) is described and illustrated as a new riparian forest species from central Veracruz and from the eastern slopes of the volcano Cofre de Perote, Mexico. The new species is similar to Spathacanthus parviflorus, but differs in wider leaves and longer corolla tube. A key to all four species of Spathacanthus is provided.  相似文献

Factors modulating introgressive hybridization between the red mangrove species Rhizophora mangle and R. racemosa in spatially defined sites are poorly understood. To investigate this, we evaluated the reproductive phenology and the nutrient and physiological traits in those two species and their F1 hybrids genotyped with microsatellite data across a natural hybrid zone from the Pacific coast of Panama. We found no evidence that reproductive phenology represents a barrier to gene flow, because R. mangle and the F1 hybrids produced flowers and propagules throughout the annual cycle, while R. racemosa flowered only in the dry season. Soil nutrient concentrations decreased landward, while soil salinity varied only slightly. Foliar nutrients and δ15N signatures varied according to the soil nutrient gradient, but only foliar phosphorus and carbon varied among species. In contrast, two structural variables (height and trunk diameter) and leaf variables related to salinity tolerance (Na, Cl:Na, K:Na, cation:anion) and water-use efficiency (i.e., δ13C) differed among species, suggesting higher salinity tolerance for R. mangle and F1 hybrids compared with R. racemosa. We conclude that parental species and F1 hybrids differ in salinity tolerance and water-use efficiency, which could be associated with adaptive evolution of the red mangrove hybrid complex.  相似文献
