NPS6, encoding a nonribosomal peptide synthetase, is a virulence determinant in the maize (Zea mays) pathogen Cochliobolus heterostrophus and is involved in tolerance to H(2)O(2). Deletion of NPS6 orthologs in the rice (Oryza sativa) pathogen, Cochliobolus miyabeanus, the wheat (Triticum aestivum) pathogen, Fusarium graminearum, and the Arabidopsis thaliana pathogen, Alternaria brassicicola, resulted in reduced virulence and hypersensitivity to H(2)O(2). Introduction of the NPS6 ortholog from the saprobe Neurospora crassa to the Deltanps6 strain of C. heterostrophus restored wild-type virulence to maize and tolerance to H(2)O(2), demonstrating functional conservation in filamentous ascomycete phytopathogens and saprobes. Increased sensitivity to iron depletion was identified as a conserved phenotype of Deltanps6 strains. Exogenous application of iron enhanced the virulence of Deltanps6 strains of C. heterostrophus, C. miyabeanus, F. graminearum, and A. brassicicola to each host. NPS6 is responsible for the biosynthesis of extracellular siderophores by C. heterostrophus, F. graminearum, and A. brassicicola. Application of the extracellular siderophore of A. brassicicola restored wild-type virulence of the DeltaAbnps6 strain to Arabidopsis. It is proposed that the role of extracellular siderophores in fungal virulence to plants is to supply an essential nutrient, iron, to their producers in planta and not to act as phytotoxins, depriving their hosts of iron. 相似文献

Interleukin-2 in human milk: a potential modulator of lymphocyte development in the breastfed infant
Development of lymphocyte subpopulations and response to antigen exposure will be influenced by the limited ability of neonates to produce cytokines. In the case of cytokines such as interleukin (IL)-2 which are potent T lymphocyte regulators but poorly produced by newborn infants, the supply of cytokines through human milk could alleviate an immunological deficit and potentially aid the maturation of the immune system. We analysed human milk from 52 mothers (15-357 days postpartum) by ELISA to determine levels of aqueous IL-2, as well as production by human milk cells. IL-2 was detectable (>8 pg/mL) in the aqueous phase of 81% of all day 1 samples with no significant difference found in the mean concentration over 3 consecutive days. IL-2 was produced constitutively at detectable levels by 57% of milk cell samples and production was significantly increased by stimulation with Con A (380%). No correlation was found between aqueous and cellular IL-2, however there was a significant correlation between milk aqueous IL-2 and serum IL-2. This is the first report of IL-2 in the aqueous phase of human milk. A supply of exogenous IL-2 in human milk may provide the suckling infant with important immunological signals during a significant stage of T cell development. 相似文献

广义拂子茅属( Calamagrostis) 是一个世界温带广布的大属, 有些作者又分为拂子茅属和野青茅属, 但近期的研究表明处理为一个属较为合适。中国共有37 种广义拂子茅属植物, 但至今没有任何染色体的研究。本文报道了其中产于中国西南6 种野青茅的染色体数目, 其中Deyeuxia petelotii 4 个居群, D1 diffusa, D1 moupinensis, D1 nivicola 和D1f lavens 各一个居群都是四倍体( 2n= 4x= 28) , D1 neglecta 为六倍体( 2n= 6x= 42) 。根据广义拂子茅属植物染色体倍性特征, 该属植物中至今未发现二倍体, 四倍体是该属中倍性最低和最普遍的, 广义拂子茅属的演化很可能是在四倍体的水平上进行的。由于以上几个四倍体种均是狭域分布的类群, 所以可能是由四倍体的祖先隔离分化形成的。 相似文献

以Klebsiella pneumoniae利用葡萄糖和木糖双底物生物转化生产2,3-丁二醇和氢气过程为研究对象,对其进行代谢计量分析。分析结果显示:2,3-丁二醇和氢气相对于底物葡萄糖和木糖的质量收率依赖于还原能力NADH2氧化磷酸化的分率(δ)。当δ=27时,即在总还原能力NADH2中有27mol NADH2被氧化磷酸化,剩余部分用来产生氢气,呼吸商为14时,2,3-丁二醇和氢气的最优质量收率分别为50%和0.8%;而当δ=1,即还原能力NADH2全部被氧化磷酸化、不产生氢气,呼吸商为4时,2,3-丁二醇的质量收率为37.5%;2,3-丁二醇和氢气的质量收率与底物中葡萄糖和木糖的比值无关。而氢气的摩尔收率与底物中葡萄糖和木糖的比值相关,当底物全部是葡萄糖或木糖时,其最优摩尔收率分别为71%和60%。该分析结果为葡萄糖和木糖双底物生物转化生产2,3-丁二醇过程的实验研究奠定了理论基础。 相似文献

We evaluate comparative toxicity of malathion in the two populations of the grasshopper Oxya chinensis, collected from Daixian and Fanshi of Shanxi province, China. General esterases and acetylcholinesterase (ACHE) from the two populations were characterized and compared. LD50 of the Daixian population (7.58 μg/g body weight) was 2.02-fold higher than that of the Fanshi population (3.75μg/g body weight). General esterase-specific activities in the Daixian population were 1.91,130 and 1.85-fold higher than those in the Fanshi population, when α-NA, α-NB and β-NA were used as a substrate, respectively. Kinetic studies of general esterase showed that Vmax values of general esterases hydrolyzing α-NA,α-NB and β-NA in the Daixian population were 2.15-, 1.12-, and 1.47-fold, respectively, higher than those in the Fanshi population. The AChE activity of the Fanshi population was 1.54-fold higher than that of the Daixian population. Kinetic analysis of AChE showed that significant differences were presented between the two populations in the Km values; and the Vmax value in the Fanshi population was higher than that in the Daixian population. Inhibition studies of AChE indicated that AChE from the Daixian population was 2.56-, 2.80-, and 2.29-fold less sensitive to inhibition by paraoxon, chlorpyrifos-oxon, and demeton-S-methyl, respectively, than that from the Fanshi population. These biochemical characterizations of general esterases and AChE were consistent with malathion bioassay in the two populations. It is inferred that the reduced sensitivity of altered AChE and increased general esterase activities play an important role in the differences of insusceptibility of Oxya chinensis to malathion between the two populations. 相似文献

应用马尔柯夫过程理论,在获得林分直径转移概率的基础上,采用间伐最小径阶林木,最大径阶林木,中间径阶林木三种间伐方式,在保留不同密度情况下对长白落叶松工业人工林进行模拟间伐,提出了适宜的保留密度和相应的抚育间伐对象。结果表明:马尔柯夫过程确能反映长白落叶松工业人工林的直径转移过程,利用马尔可夫过程理论对长白落叶松工业人工林进行模拟间伐实现了依据培育时间来确定间伐方法和措施,提高了长白落叶松工业人工林经营管理的精准性;长白落叶松工业人工林成林后的间伐无论从培育森林方面,还是从取得木材、加大林分收益方面考虑,都应该以间伐小径阶的林木为主,注重培育I、II级木,间伐III, IV级木;20~25 a长白落叶松工业人工林间伐后的保留经营密度以0.7为宜。 相似文献

在水稻遗传转化过程中发现一个不含外源基因的条斑和颖花异常的双突变体。该突变体的茎、叶、穗出现条斑。在分蘖盛期,一些叶片开始分岔或卷曲;花器官数目增多,表现为多内外稃,叶片状浆片,或浆片增大,雌雄蕊增多,颖花开裂。透射电镜对叶片白色组织细胞超微结构观察,发现细胞壁内陷,质体结构异常,不能发育出正常叶绿体所具有的片层和类囊体。叶绿素总含量和净光合速率明显低于野生型。突变体绿色组织部分中的细胞生长正常,但细胞较大。利用扫描电镜对花器官形态发生过程进行观察,雄蕊原基发育严重不同步,原基大小也不一样;心皮原基较小。 相似文献
