Postradiation changes in the systems of active transport of ions in the CNS. Mitochondrial ATPase

The effect of lethal and superlethal doses of ionizing radiation (0.206, 0.309, and 9.288 C/kg) on ATPase activity of rat brain mitochondria has been investigated. The results obtained indicate that ionizing radiation causes appreciable, depending on the dose, changes in ATPase of brain mitochondria.     

Comparative frequency of chromosome aberrations in a human lymphocyte culture depending on the mode of neutron irradiation

The study of the dose dependence of the incidence of chromosome aberrations in a human lymphocyte culture exposed at the G0 stage to pulsed neutrons of 0.7 MeV revealed no significant distinctions in the cytogenetic effect at the pulse frequency of 1 and 5 Hz, but at 100 Hz it was somewhat increased. As to the biological effectiveness, pulsed neutrons of 0.7 MeV occupied an intermediate position between 0.35 and 0.85 MeV static neutrons.     

Effect of charged particles of relativistic energy on the number of chromosome aberrations in human blood lymphocytes. Dose-response relationship and the RBE of protons, deuterons and helium ions

In experiments with human blood lymphocyte culture exposed to fast protons, deuterons and helium ions the frequency and types of chromosome aberrations have been studied. Fast charged particles of a relativistic energy are shown to have a pronounced harmful effect resulting in a sharply increased formation of exchange chromosome aberrations as compared to that produced by gamma-radiation. The RBE coefficients of the particles under study have been determined: their values vary depending on the type of radiation and the tests used.     

Immunogenetic analysis of the population structure of Duroc breed swine during acclimatization

The American Duroc pigs characterized by the specific immunogenetic structure and especially by the high level of B and Hp loci polymorphism, and by the amylase locus monomorphism as well. Immunogenetic analysis allows revealing changes in the genetic structure of the population induced by breeding and during adaptation.     

Structural Organization of Gene Pool by Immunogenetic Markers in the Ukrainskaya Stepnaya Belaya Breed of Pigs

The study of structural organization of gene pool was conducted for eight blood-group genetic systems (transferrin, haptoglobin, and amilase) in three stock herds of pigs of the Ukrainskaya Stepnaya Belaya breed that were bred under the conditions of southern Ukraine. Typical gene combinations (complex genotypes) of this breed were detected, and the main breed-specific parameters of distribution of genetic markers were described.     

Dynamics of microevolutionary processes during the use of pigs of various types under conditions at an industrial complex

Breeding of pigs in a closed herd during three generations under industrial complex conditions does not essentially increase the number of animals with homozygous genotypes of polymorphic systems of blood groups. One of the possible causes of this phenomenon is selection favourable to animals with a higher heterozygosity.
