In the present article homology issues, character evolution and phylogenetic implications related to the female postabdomen of the holometabolan insects are discussed, based on an earlier analysis of a comprehensive morphological data set. Hymenoptera, the sistergroup of the remaining Holometabola, are the only group where the females have retained a fully developed primary ovipositor of the lepismatid type. There are no characters of the female abdomen supporting a clade Coleopterida + Neuropterida. The invagination of the terminal segments is an autapomorphy of Coleoptera. The ovipositor is substantially modified in Raphidioptera and distinctly reduced in Megaloptera and Neuroptera. The entire female abdomen is extremely simplified in Strepsiptera. The postabdomen is tapering posteriorly in Mecopterida and retractile in a telescopic manner (oviscapt). The paired ventral sclerites of segments VIII and IX are preserved, but valvifers and valvulae are not distinguishable. In Amphiesmenoptera sclerotizations derived from the ventral appendages VIII are fused ventromedially, forming a solid plate, and the appendages IX are reduced. The terminal segments are fused and form a terminal unit which bears the genital opening subapically. The presence of two pairs of apophyses and the related protraction of the terminal unit by muscle force are additional autapomorphies, as is the fusion of the rectum with the posterior part of the genital chamber (cloaca). Antliophora are supported by the presence of a transverse muscle between the ventral sclerites of segment VIII. Secondary egg laying tubes have evolved independently within Boreidae (absent in Caurinus) and in Tipulomorpha. The loss of two muscle associated with the genital chamber are likely autapomorphies of Diptera. The secondary loss of the telescopic retractability of the postabdomen is one of many autapomorphies of Siphonaptera.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung 12–13 Jahre alte Konidien von 5 Aspergillus niger-Rassen keimten später als 12 Monate alte und junge, etwa 4 Tage alte, wobei die Versuchstemperatur grundsätzlich ohne Bedeutung war, falls sie Keimung gestattete.Verzögert war nach mikroskopischen Beobachtungen sowohl die der eigentlichen Keimung vorausgehende Quellung der Sporen, als auch die Keimung selbst.Die spätere Keimung der älteren Konidien beruhte zu einem geringen Teil auf stärkerer Austrocknung, die eine mechanische Wasseraufnahme erschwerte, in der Hauptsache jedoch war sie eine Folge des Alters, eine Alterserscheinung.Hatte Keimung stattgefundeu, so war kein Unterschied festzustellen in der Waschstumsstärke und der Konidienfruktifikation zwischen den Mycelien, die auf ungleichalterige Konidien zurückgingen; sie breiteten sich auf Nähragarplatten gleich schnell aus, bildeten auf Nährlösungen Decken von gleichem Gewicht und entwickelten Konidien von nor maler Form und Farbe.Die Untersuchungen wurden 1943/44 in der pharmakognostischen Abteilung der Botanischen Anstalten Breslau durchgeführt.  相似文献

Long-lived Th2 memory in experimental allergic asthma   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Although life-long immunity against pathogens is beneficial, immunological memory responses directed against allergens are potentially harmful. Because there is a paucity of information about Th2 memory cells in allergic disease, we established a model of allergic asthma in BALB/c mice to explore the generation and maintenance of Th2 memory. We induced disease without the use of adjuvants, thus avoiding Ag depots, and found that unlike allergic asthma in mice immunized with adjuvant, immunizing with soluble and aerosol OVA resulted in pathological lung lesions resembling human disease. To test memory responses we allowed mice with acute disease to recover and then re-exposed them to aerosol OVA a second time. Over 400 days later these mice developed OVA-dependent eosinophilic lung inflammation, airway hyperresponsiveness, mucus hypersecretion, and IgE. Over 1 year after recuperating from acute disease, mice had persistent lymphocytic lung infiltrates, Ag-specific production of IL-4 and IL-5 from spleen and lung cells in vitro, and elevated IgG1. Moreover, when recuperated mice were briefly aerosol challenged, we detected early expression of Th2 cytokine RNA in lungs. Taken together, these data demonstrate the presence of long-lived Th2 memory cells in spleen and lungs involved in the generation of allergic asthma upon Ag re-exposure.  相似文献

The present study describes the development of two approaches for the determination of the enantiopurity of both enantiomers of indatraline. Initially, a method was developed using different chiral solvating agents (CSAs) for diastereomeric discrimination regarding signal separation in 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, revealing MTPA as a promising choice for the differentiation of the indatraline enantiomers. This CSA was also tested for its ideal molar ratio, temperature, and solvent. Optimized conditions could be achieved that made determination of enantiopurity for (1R,3S)‐indatraline up to 98.9% enantiomeric excess (ee) possible. To quantify even higher enantiopurities, a high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method based on a modified β‐cyclodextrine phase was established. The influence of buffer type, concentration, pH value, percentage and kind of organic modifier, temperature, injection volume as well as sample solvent on chromatographic parameters was investigated. Afterwards, the reliability of the established HPLC method was demonstrated by validation according to the ICH guideline Q2(R1) regarding specificity, accuracy, precision, linearity, and quantitation limit. The developed method proved to be strictly linear within a concentration range of 1.25–1000 μM for the (1R,3S)‐enantiomer and 1.25‐750 μM for its mirror image that enables a reliable determination of enantiopurities up to 99.75% ee for the (1R,3S)‐enantiomer and up to 99.67% ee for the (1S,3R)‐enantiomer. Two genes (agal1 and agal2) encoding α-galactosidases were identified by sequence-based screening approaches. The gene agal1 was identified from a data set of a sequenced hot spring metagenome, and the deduced amino-acid sequence exhibited 99% identity to an α-galactosidase from the thermophilic bacterium Dictyoglomus thermophilum. The gene agal2 was identified from the whole genome sequence of the thermophile Meiothermus ruber. The amino-acid sequences exhibited structural motifs typical for glycoside hydrolase (GH) family 36 members and were also differentiated into different subgroups of this family. Recombinant production of the heat-active GH36b enzyme Agal1 (87 kDa) and GH36bt enzyme Agal2 (57 kDa) was carried out in E. coli. Agal1 exhibited a specific activity of 1502.3 U/mg at 80 °C, pH 6.5, and Agal2 225.4 U/mg at 60–70 °C, pH 6.5. Half-lives of 14 h (Agal1) and 39 h (Agal2) were obtained at 50 °C, and Agal1 showed half-lives of 4 and 2 h at 70 and 80 °C, respectively. In addition to the natural substrates melibiose, raffinose, and stachyose, 4NP α-d-galactopyranoside was hydrolyzed. Galactose was also liberated from locust bean gum. Both heat-active enzymes are attractive candidates for application in food and feed industry for high-temperature processes for the degradation of raffinose family oligosaccharides.

A map of plant species diversity in Burkina Faso is presented based on field observations and specimen data from the Ouagadougou University Herbarium (OUA) and the Herbarium Senckenbergianum (FR). A map of collecting intensity and field observations illustrates centres of botanical research activities in Burkina Faso. To overcome problems associated with biased sampling intensity, distributions of species have been modelled and extrapolated to maps of vascular plant diversity, life forms and diversity of four selected families (Poaceae, Cyperaceae, Dioscoreaceae and Rubiaceae). The area of most intensive collection and observation is around Gorom‐Gorom and Fada N’Gourma. Modelled diversity generally increases towards the south, as does the proportion of phanerophytes, lianas and hemicryptophytes, while the opposite trend is observed for therophytes. Poaceae diversity is highly correlated with total vascular plant diversity, making the family especially suitable as an indicator for overall plant diversity. Cyperaceae are rather evenly distributed throughout the country, Dioscoreaceae are restricted to the Sudanian Zone. Rubiaceae have their highest diversities in the very south. Our approach can be transferred to areas with a similar database, certainly to other areas within West Africa. Future research should focus on distribution data for rare species, enabling our approach to evaluate the West African system of protected areas.  相似文献

Objective

To describe temporal changes in systolic, diastolic, and mean blood pressure (SBP, DBP, and MBP, respectively) in term and preterm infants immediately after birth.

Methods

Prospective observational two-center study. In term infants SBP, DBP, and MBP were assessed non-invasively every minute for the first 15 minutes, and in preterm infants every minute for the first 15 minutes, as well as at 20, 25, 30, 45, and 60 minutes after birth. Regression analyses were performed by gender and respiratory support in all neonates; and by mode of delivery, cord clamping time, and development of ultrasound-detected brain injury in preterm neonates.

Results

Term infants (n = 54) had a mean (SD) birth weight of 3298 (442) g and gestational age of 38 (1) weeks, and preterm infants (n = 94) weighed 1340 (672) g and were 30 (3) weeks gestation. Term infants’ SBP, DBP and MBP within the first 15 minutes after birth were independent of gender or respiratory support. Linear mixed regression analysis showed that preterm infants, who were female, born vaginally, had delayed cord clamping and did not require positive pressure ventilation nor develop periventricular injury or ventriculomegaly, had significantly higher SBP, DBP, and MBP at some measurement points within the first hour after birth.

Conclusions

We present novel reference ranges of BP immediately after birth in a cohort of term and preterm neonates. They may aid in optimization of cardiovascular support during early transition at all gestations.  相似文献
