The 40,000-dalton glycoprotein and 2000-dalton peptide inducing selective Ca2+-transport through bilayer lipid membranes were isolated from beef heart homogenate and mitochondria. Micromolar concentrations of these substances were found to increase the conductivity of membranes by 3–4 orders. Transmembrane Ca2+ gradient induces an electric potential difference whose magnitude is close to the theoretical for ideal Ca2+ selectivity. The inhibitor of mitochondrial Ca2+ transport, ruthenium red, abolishes both the glycoprotein-and peptide-induced Ca2+ transport in bilayer lipid membranes. Thiol groups essential for Ca2+ transport activity were revealed in the glycoprotein and peptide. Addition of these substances to rat liver mitochondria induces Ca2+-dependent inhibition of the state 3 respiration that can be released by uncouplers (oligomycin-like effect).  相似文献

The aim of this investigation was to study the possible relationships between anthropometry, flexibility and specific swimming results in female breaststroke swimmers. Subjects were 125 female breaststroke swimmers in age of 11-18 years. Body height and mass were measured and BMI (kg/m2 ) and Broca index (body height in cm - 100 = weight in kg) were calculated. The flexibility of hip external rotation, knee external rotation, ankle dorsal flexion and ankle supination were measured with plastic goniometer. 100 m breaststroke swimming using kickboard and legs only was used as a swimming performance parameter. The number of kicks was also fixed. Horizontal jumping ability was measured using a simple standing broad jump (cm) minus body height (cm). As a rule, flexibility in different joints did not depend on anthropometrical parameters. Only knee external rotation and ankle dorsal flexion correlated significantly with body mass (r = -0.221 and r = -0.210, respectively) and BMI (r = 0.242 and r = 0.204, respectively). The relationship between flexibility in different joints, as a rule, was not significant. Stepwise multiple regression analysis indicated that from the used anthropometrical parameters the most important was the body height, which explained 11.1% (R2 x 100) of the 100 m breaststroke swim results using legs only. The most important parameter from the measured flexibility indices was knee external rotation (11.1%, R2 x 100). Combination of knee external rotation and ankle supination increased the determination coefficient to 24.4%. Finally, three flexibility measures (knee external rotation, ankle supination, hip external rotation) explained the swimming results by 28.2% (R2 x 100). It was concluded that the good flexibility is more important than single anthropometrical parameters when explaining the breaststroke swimming results using kickboard and legs only.  相似文献

This report describes the development of an HPLC-UV method for studies of glycoamines and glycoamine-like compounds in normal human serum and osteosarcoma patient serum as potential biological markers of cancer. The glycoamines, a newly recognized class of endogenous, low-molecular-mass biopolymers, are conjugates of amino acids and sugar units, containing 5 to 29 amino acid and 1 to 17 sugar units. After ultrafiltration of serum samples, reversed-phase HPLC separation with diode-array detection was used to obtain standard profiles of serum ultrafiltrates below Mr 10 000 in healthy subjects. These highly reproducible profiles utilized two-dimensional peak identification and were used to develop a statistical profile of the major glycoamine peaks in normal serum. This newly developed analytical method was subsequently used to address a key question: whether or not there is a single tumor-specific glycoamine or a family of tumor-specific glycoamines in cancer patient serum. Preliminary results suggest that this method can separate and detect glycoamines and glycoamine-like compounds in various types of cancer patient serum with a high degree of reproducibility on the basis of comparative two-dimensional identification of natural compounds and a panel of synthetic glycoamine analogs. Moreover, the method is useful for following the relative changes in the amount of a given glycoamine over an extended clinical time course. Initial results suggest that a glycoamine or glycoamine-like compound, GA-4.63, may have clinical utility in human osteosarcoma studies.  相似文献

Photoplethysmography (PPG) is a noninvasive optical technology, with applications including vital sign extraction and patient monitoring. The PPG acquisition skin type may be of importance. Skin is either nonglabrous (~90%) or glabrous (~10%). Clinical PPG collection is typically from glabrous (fingerpad), while proliferating wearables collecting PPG, which may perform critical functions like arrythmia detection, often acquire from atypical sites. Glabrous skin has significant differences from nonglabrous, including microcirculation, yet comparisons between their PPG signals have not been well reported. Using a smartphone-based remote/contactless PPG, a pilot dataset was collected from the hands (palmar/dorsal) of five healthy volunteers. The data shows statistically significant lead time (52 ± 36 ms) of glabrous over nonglabrous. Further, a trend of glabrous amplitude increase over nonglabrous (31%) was found. Although our study has a small number of participants, these results further the characterization of PPG skin differences, and can be used to inform development of PPG-based devices.  相似文献
