Genetic analysis of chorion formation in Drosophila melanogaster: I. The effects of one somatic-specific and seven germ-line-specific mutations 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Eight X-linked recessive female sterile mutations, derived from a hybrid dysgenic screen of Drosophila melanogaster and representing eight distinct loci, have been characterized by genetic and ultrastructural analysis. Four have abnormal respiratory appendages, three have essentially normal appendages but show moderate defects in the endochorion, and one mutant, fs(1)ne1a, exhibits major defects in both the endochorion and the respiratory appendages. Germ line clones of all eight mutants were generated using the dominant female sterile technique. Seven of the eight mutations are germ line specific, indicating that, although the eggshell is produced by the follicular cells, germ line functions play a significant role in its elaboration. The mutant that shows major defects, fs(1)ne1a, is somatic line specific, and exerts its effect in the ovary. 相似文献

Mahaim Fiber tachycardia characteristically causes a wide QRS tachycardia with left bundle branch morphology and left axis deviation, especially in young patients, having no structural heart disease. Mahaim fiber automaticity further cements the proposition of Mahaim fiber, due to its Atrioventricular (AV) node like property, being called as an ectopic AV node. 相似文献

The fungitoxic effect of various medicinal plants belonging to different families was evaluated in vitro on Rhizoctonia solani, the rice sheath blight pathogen. Of the various plant extracts, the leaf extract of zimmu (Allium cepa × Allium sativum) showed the maximum antifungal activity against R. solani and recorded an inhibition zone of 12?mm. The leaf extract of zimmu was also effective in inhibiting the growth of other agronomically important fungal and bacterial pathogens viz., Aspergillus flavus, Curvularia lunata, Alternaria solani, Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae, Xanthomonas campestris pv. malvacearum and Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri. The antimicrobial compound was dissoluble in methanol and the methanolic extract showed the absorption maxima at 210?nm and 230?nm. Phenolic compounds were present in greater amounts in methanol extract of zimmu. TLC analysis showed the appearance of two blue spots at R f ?=?0.65 and R f ?=?0.90. The compounds eluted at R f ?=?0.65 and R f ?=?0.90 by preparative TLC exhibited strong antifungal activity against R. solani. 相似文献

Cubilin, (CUBN; also known as intrinsic factor-cobalamin receptor [Homo sapiens Entrez Pubmed ref ; NM_001081.3;
GI: 119606627]), located in the epithelium of intestine and kidney acts as a receptor for intrinsic factor – vitamin B12 complexes.
Mutations in CUBN may play a role in autosomal recessive megaloblastic anemia. The current study investigated the possible role
of CUBN in evolution using phylogenetic testing. A total of 588 BLAST hits were found for the cubilin query sequence and these
hits showed putative conserved domain, CUB superfamily (as on 27th Nov 2012). A first-pass phylogenetic tree was constructed to
identify the taxa which most often contained the CUBN sequences. Following this, we narrowed down the search by manually
deleting sequences which were not CUBN. A repeat phylogenetic analysis of 25 taxa was performed using PhyML, RAxML and
TreeDyn softwares to confirm that CUBN is a conserved protein emphasizing its importance as an extracellular domain and being
present in proteins mostly known to be involved in development in many chordate taxa but not found in prokaryotes, plants and
yeast.. No horizontal gene transfers have been found between different taxa. NG_008967.1相似文献

Background
In the internal fixation of fractured bone by means of bone-plates fastened to the bone on its tensile surface, an on-going concern has been the excessive stress-shielding of the bone by the excessively-stiff stainless-steel plate. The compressive stress-shielding at the fracture-interface immediately after fracture-fixation delays callus formation and bone healing. Likewise, the tensile stress-shielding of the layer of the bone underneath the plate can cause osteoporosis and decrease in tensile strength of this layer. 相似文献28.

Transhumance sheep and goat production have been a common and traditional practice in Greece, with its origins dating back to ancient times. Despite the diminishing number of transhumance farms, it remains an essential activity in less-favoured and mountainous areas of the country. This article applies DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) in a sample of transhumance farms in Greece in order to assess the technical efficiency of sheep and goat transhumance flocks and determine the factors that affect their performance. The effect of EU subsidies on the technical efficiency of transhumance farms is assessed and the type of farms that benefit most is investigated. Results accrued reveal that the overall technical efficiency of transhumance farms in Greece is quite low and it is affected by herd size. EU subsidies have a significant impact on the technical efficiency of only the low-efficiency, small-sized farms. 相似文献

The present study explored the effects of thyroid hormone (TH) treatment on post-ischemic cardiac function and potential implicated mechanisms. Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) was induced in mice by coronary artery ligation while sham-operated animals served as controls. This procedure resulted in a marked depression of cardiac function and significant reduction in TH levels in plasma. TH was given at a dose aiming to normalize T3 levels in plasma [AMI-TH (A)] and also at higher doses. The group of animals treated with the highest dose of TH, which displayed significantly increased mortality rate was included in the study [AMI-TH (B)]. In AMI-TH (A) mice, TH significantly improved left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction (EF%), [27.9% (1.4) in AMI versus 38.0 (3.1) in AMI-TH (A), P < 0.05], and favorably remodeled LV chamber while α-MHC was the dominant isoform expressed. In AMI-TH (B) mice, TH treatment resulted in increased mortality as compared to untreated mice (73% vs 47%, P < 0.05), while the favorable effect of TH was not evident in the survived animals. At the molecular level, TH, at the replacement dose, modestly increased p-Akt levels in the myocardium without any change in p-ERK levels. On the contrary, TH at the higher dose resulted in further increase in p-Akt along with an increase in p-ERK levels. In conclusion, TH appears to have a dose-dependent bimodal effect on post-ischemic cardiac performance and this effect may, at least in part, be mediated by a distinct pattern of activation of Akt and ERK signaling. 相似文献

A detailed developmental study of eggshell architecture of the fishSalmo gairdneri(rainbow trout) was performed using transmission and scanning electron microscopy. Thioglycollic acid treatment and freeze-fracturing reveal that fibrils ca. 5–10 nm in diameter constitute each lamella of the helicoidal eggshell. Freeze-fracturing also permits a direct visualization of the helicoidal architecture. Laser-Raman studies of the eggshell indicate abundant antiparallel β-pleated-sheet conformation in the eggshell proteins ofS. gairdneriduring all developmental stages. Apparently, this conformation dictates formation of the helicoidal structure. Disulfide bonds, together with isopeptide bonds, cross-linkS. gairdnerieggshell proteins throughout development. 相似文献
