Circadian periodicity of tissue glutathione and its relationship with lipid peroxidation in rats 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Circadian fluctuations in tissue glutathione (GSH) concentrations and lipid peroxidation in male Sprague-Dawley rats were investigated. Blood and all the organs studied exhibited distinct circadian variation both in GSH concentrations and peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids. There was a great variation among organs in the periodicity and amplitude of the fluctuations in GSH concentrations. Liver displayed the highest variation (approximately 50%) followed by stomach (approximately 37%), heart (approximately 25%) and kidney (approximately 19%). The changes in other organs were significant but of less magnitude. Implications of such variations and caution in interpretation of experimental results in response to the exposure of animals to xenobiotics are discussed. 相似文献

1. Genetically obese Zucker rats (fa/fa) contain 2-3 times higher activities mono- and diacylglycerol lipases in their spinal cords than their lean littermates. 2. When rats were exercised (1 hr daily, 5 days/week) on a treadmill for 6 months, there was a decrease of about 30% (P less than 0.05) in the activities of mono- and diacylglycerol lipases in lean rats but not in obese animals. 3. High activities of lipases in Zucker obese rats may be related to the elevated levels of beta-endorphin present in these animals. 4. The activities of arylsulfatase, beta-N-acetylhexosaminidase and alkaline phosphatase, tested to check the stability of spinal cord extracts, were similar in lean and obese rat spinal cords. 相似文献

The present observations are the continuation of our earlier study on the physicochemical mechanism of protein-lysine methylation. In this paper the electrophoretic behaviour (pI values) of two chemically modified horse heart cytochromes c at lysine-72 with trifluoromethylphenylcarbamoyl (neutral group) or carboxydinitrophenyl (acidic group) is compared with the enzymatically methylated cytochrome c. The results indicate that although both chemically modified cytochromes c have lower pI values than the unmodified cytochrome c, the enzymatic methylation appears to be much more efficient in lowering the pI values of the protein than the chemical modification. Furthermore, the lowering of the pI value of cytochrome c by enzymatic methylation is highly dependent on the urea concentration. The presence of urea reduces the effect of methylation on the protein molecule and the difference in pI values virtually disappears with the increasing concentration of urea (6 M), which essentially disrupts the protein tertiary structure. 相似文献

Precise temporal and spatial regulation of transgene expression is a critical tool to investigate gene function in developing organisms.
