In this study, we examined whether a satisfactory infrageneric grouping in Eremopyrum (Ledeb.) Jaub. & Spach can be achieved with the help of cluster analysis based on external vegetative and floral morphological characters of specimens either gathered from the field or borrowed from various herbaria. Twenty morphological characters were chosen and scored for 36 populations representing the genus. The data were subjected to numerical taxonomic analyses, and a phenogram was obtained by applying Gower general similarity index. The results of this study suggest that there are basically five species in Turkey, namely E. triticeum (Gaertner) Nevski, E. orientale (L.) Jaub. & Spach, E. distans (K. Koch) Nevski, E. bonaepartis (Sprengel) Nevski, and E. confusum Melderis. For the first time a new variety, E. bonaepartis (Sprengel) Nevski. var. aristatum Cabi & Do?an, is proposed along with two new combinations: E. bonaepartis (Sprengel) Nevski. var. sinaicum (Steudel) Cabi & Do?an and E. confusum Melderis var. sublanuginosum (Drob.) Cabi & Dogan. An account of Eremopyrum in Turkey is given, including a key to the species and varieties, and a general indication of their distribution.  相似文献

Common bunt is known to cause grain yield and quality losses in wheat due to bunt ball formation and infestation of the grain. The aim of this study is to identify for sources of resistance to common bunt in wheat genotypes using phytopathological and molecular methods. In general, studied 60 Kazakh and foreign wheat genotypes were found 15 samples with the Bt9, Bt8 and Bt11 genes. Carriers of the Bt10 gene include the five varieties. The four resistance genes, Bt8, Bt10, Bt11, Bt9, and Bt10 were identified in the Karasai variety. Phytopathological and molecular screening of Kazakh and foreign wheat genotypes selected 18 with genes for resistance to the disease. According to evaluation on an artificial infection 19 varieties showed an immune type of reaction. These varieties will be used in breeding programs as donors to create resistant varieties against the common bunt. Thus, approaches can reduce the level of fungicides use and the most effective method to control the common bunt.  相似文献

Inadequate persistence of tumor‐infiltrating natural killer (NK) cells is associated with poor prognosis in cancer patients. The solid tumor microenvironment is characterized by the presence of immunosuppressive factors, including prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), that limit NK cell persistence. Here, we investigate if the modulation of the cytokine environment in lung cancer with IL‐2 or IL‐15 renders NK cells resistant to suppression by PGE2. Analyzing Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) data, we found that high NK cell gene signatures correlate with significantly improved overall survival in patients with high levels of the prostaglandin E synthase (PTGES). In vitro, IL‐15, in contrast to IL‐2, enriches for CD25+/CD54+ NK cells with superior mTOR activity and increased expression of the cAMP hydrolyzing enzyme phosphodiesterase 4A (PDE4A). Consequently, this distinct population of NK cells maintains their function in the presence of PGE2 and shows an increased ability to infiltrate lung adenocarcinoma tumors in vitro and in vivo. Thus, strategies to enrich CD25+/CD54+ NK cells for adoptive cell therapy should be considered.  相似文献

A stable bacterial association isolated from a sulfur block sample of the Astrakhan gas processing complex was able to utilize n-alkanes as the sole carbon and energy source at low pH. Hydrocarbon-dependent growth occurred at pH 1.6–5.5 (optimum at pH 2.5) and 20–50°C (optimum at 30–35°C). Analysis of the 16S rRNA gene fragments isolated from the total DNA of the enrichment by PCR-DGGE revealed the nucleotide sequences most closely related to extreme acidophilic chemolithotrophs Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans and Sulfobacillus sp. (98–99% similarity) and the sequences exhibiting high similarity to those of slowly growing actinobacteria Mycobacterium europaeum and M. parascrofulaceum (98%). Capacity of any of these organisms for hydrocarbon oxidation has not been reported previously. The taxonomic position of the 16S rRNA gene fragments from the enrichment culture suggests that this bacterial association is a unique microbial community, in which development of acidophilic hydrocarbon-oxidizing bacteria is mediated by a localized pH decrease in the sulfur blocks resulting from elemental sulfur oxidation due to massive development of chemolithotrophic sulfur-oxidizing bacteria.  相似文献

The possible potential role of several infectious agents in atherosclerosis has been shown. Several infectious agents DNA in atheromatous plaques have been displayed by PCR. In patients with atheromas antibody levels against Hsp65 were higher. Vaccination of mice with recombinant Hsp65 and Hsp65-rich M. tuberculosis resulted in formation of atheromatous plaques. We attempted to detect M. tuberculosis DNA in atherosclerotic plaque samples by PCR. In endarterectomy tissue samples obtained from patients during coronary artery bypass graft surgery DNA was prepared by proteinase-K digestion, phenol/chloroform extraction and ethanol precipitation. After amplification with M.tuberculosis complex IS6110 region specific primers, the products were analyzed on electrophoresis. M. tuberculosis DNA was negative in all tissue samples. More data on etiological studies with mycobacteriaceae will be yield information on atherosclerosis pathogenesis.  相似文献

The denitrification process was incorporated into the IWA Anaerobic Digestion Model No. 1 (ADM1) in order to account for the effect of denitrification on the methanogenic fermentation process. The model was calibrated and optimized using previously published experimental data and kinetic parameter values obtained with a mixed, mesophilic (35°C) methanogenic culture. Model simulations were used to predict the effect of nitrate reduction on the methanogenic fermentation process in batch, semi‐continuous, and continuous flow reactors experiencing operational changes and/or system disturbances. The extended model clearly revealed the importance of substrate competition between denitrifiers and non‐denitrifiers as well as the impact of N‐oxide inhibition on process interactions between fermentation, methanogenesis, and denitrification. Sphaerophysa kotschyana is a Turkish endemic and endangered plant that grows near Salt Lake, in Konya, Turkey. However, little is known about the ability of this plant to generate/remove reactive oxygen species (ROS) or its adaptive biochemical responses to saline environments. After exposure of S. kotschyana to 0, 150, and 300 mM NaCl for 7 and 14 days, we investigated (1) the activities and isozyme compositions of the antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POX), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), and glutathione reductase (GR); (2) the oxidative stress parameters NADPH oxidase (NOX) activity, lipid peroxidation (MDA), total ascorbate (tAsA) content, and total glutathione content (tGlut); and (3) ROS levels for superoxide anion radical (O 2 ·? ), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), hydroxyl radicals (OH·), and histochemical staining of O 2 ·? and H2O2. H2O2 content increased after 14 days of salt stress, which was consistent with the results from histochemical staining and NOX activity measurements. In contrast, oxidative stress induced by 150 mM NaCl was more efficiently prevented, as indicated by low malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and especially at 7 days, by increased levels of SOD, POX, APX, and GR. However, at 300 mM NaCl, decreased levels of protective enzymes such as SOD, CAT, POX, and GR, particularly with long-term stress (14 days), resulted in limited ROS scavenging activity and increased MDA levels. Moreover, at 300 mM NaCl, the high H2O2 content caused oxidative damage rather than inducing protective responses against H2O2. These results suggest that S. kotschyana is potentially tolerant to salt-induced damage only at low salt concentrations.  相似文献

Biodegradation of alkyl-substituted adamantane derivatives (1-methyl, 1,3-dimethyl-, and 1,3,5-trimethyladamantane) by slow-growing bacteria Mycobacterium AGS10 was studied. The process was carried out under extremely acidic conditions (pH 2.5). Bacterial strain AGS10 was able to utilize these alicyclic hydrocarbons with a high degree of condensation and diamond-like structure, which are usually resistant to microbial transformation. Efficiency of alkyaldamantane biodegradation by the cells growing with these substrates as the sole carbon and energy sources was affected significantly by their aggregate state, which depended on molecular structure. Compared to the solid 1-methyladamantane, 1,3-dimethyladamantane, which is liquid under normal conditions, was a preferable substrate. Adamantanes in the gas condensate were generally more resistant to bacterial degradation than such markers as normal and isoprenoid alkanes. Moreover, biodegradation had no significant effect on relative distribution of the tested С11–С13 alkyladamantanes.  相似文献
