Adult males of Drosophila species (Drosophila melanogaster L. and Drosophila virilis) show a lower tolerance to heat stress compared with females. The present study investigates the effects of RNA interference (RNAi) knockdown of the insulin‐like receptor in the corpus allatum of D. melanogaster males on dopamine metabolism and content, heat stress resistance and juvenile hormone metabolism. In male flies, the knockdown of insulin‐like receptor in the corpus allatum is shown to change metabolism of juvenile hormone but not dopamine. It is also shown that knockdown of the insulin‐like receptor in the corpus allatum results in a decrease of heat stress resistance in females but not males, and that juvenile hormone rescues this decrease. The results suggest that at least one of the ways in which insulin‐like growth factors affect heat stress resistance is by successive mediation through juvenile hormone and dopamine, which could lead to sexual dimorphism in the trait. 相似文献

The data is obtained on the effect of high-intensity pulses of terahertz (THz) radiation with a broad spectrum (0.2–3 THz) on cell cultures. We have evaluated the threshold exposure parameters of THz radiation causing genotoxic effects in fibroblasts. Phosphorylation of histone H2AX at Ser 139 (γH2AX) was chosen as a marker for genotoxicity and a quantitative estimation of γH2AX foci number in fibroblasts was performed after cell irradiation with THz pulses for 30 min. No genotoxic effects of THz radiation were observed in fibroblasts unless peak intensity and electric field strength exceeded 21 GW cm−2 and 2.8 MV cm−1, respectively. In tumor cell lines (neuroblastoma (SK-N-BE (2)) and glioblastoma (U87)), exposure to THz pulses with peak intensity of 21 GW cm−2 for 30 min caused no morphological changes as well as no statistically significant increase in histone phosphorylation foci number. 相似文献

We present a paleoparasitological analysis of the medieval Zeleniy Yar burial ground
of the XII-XII centuries AD located in the northern part of Western Siberia. Parasite
eggs, identified as eggs of Opisthorchis felineus, were found in the
samples from the pelvic area of a one year old infant buried at the site. Presence of
these eggs in the soil samples from the infant’s abdomen suggests that he/she was
infected with opisthorchiasis and imply consumption of undercooked fish. Ethnographic
records collected among the population of the northern part of Western Siberia reveal
numerous cases of feeding raw fish to their children. Zeleniy Yar case of
opisthorchiasis suggests that this dietary custom has persisted from at least
