Renal hypertension was induced by ligation of the aorta between renal arteries in rats sympathectomized with 6-hydroxydopamine. In the early phase, equally severe hypertension developed in the denervated group as compared to innervated controls. Later, blood pressure was lower in the denervated rats. Initially, increases in plasma renin were seen in both groups; the levels, however, were markedly lower in the denervated rats. Later, the renin levels were similar and not different from baseline. It is concluded that adrenergic neural activity is not essential in the development of renal hypertension; the maintenance of the chronic state, however, depends in part on adrenergic innervation. 相似文献

The apparent penetration activity of Schistosoma mansoni cercariae was quantified by means of an in vitro assay with a radioactively labeled Type I collagen gel. Leucocytosis was shown to occur in the pulmonate gastropod Biomphalaria glabrata exposed to the trematode Echinostoma lindoense. In these sensitized snails, the leukocyte count in the hemolymph was elevated 3 to 5 days postexposure to miracidia, and prior to complete encapsulation of sporocysts. This increase continued 1 to 5 days after destruction of sensitizing, irradiated E. lindoense sporocysts. Counts returned to normal levels after this period. A significant and more rapid increase in numbers of circulating leukocytes occurred 1 to 6 hr after reexposure of snails to a sensitizing dose of nonirradiated E. lindoense sporocysts. Obesity is associated with many diseases, particularly diabetes, hypertension, osteoarthritis, and heart disease. The obesity incidence has increased at an alarming rate in recent years, becoming a worldwide health problem, with incalculable social costs. Two different obesity-treatment drugs are currently on the market: orlistat, which reduces intestinal fat absorption via inhibiting pancreatic lipase; and sibutramine, an anorectic or appetite suppressant. Both drugs have hazardous side-effects, including increased blood pressure, dry mouth, constipation, headache, and insomnia. For this reason, a wide variety of natural materials have been explored for their obesity treatment potential. These are mainly complex products having several components with different chemical and pharmacological features. The human health risk of soils contaminated with As, Pb, Cu, and Zn was evaluated based on pseudo-total concentrations of metal(loid)s, the physiologically based extraction test (PBET), and diffusive gradients in thin films (DGT). Non-carcinogenic (NCR) and carcinogenic (CR) risks exceeded the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency criteria under both the residential and non-residential scenarios. Human bioavailable concentrations (PBET) were much lower than pseudo-total concentrations. The Hazardous Index of NCR (HI (NCR)) for the PBET in the studied soils was 67% and 94% less than that for pseudo-total concentration, respectively, under the non-residential and residential scenarios. Similarly, CR for the PBET was also 65% and 93% less for the two soils. The concentration of metal(loid)s accumulated in the DGT resin was highly correlated with the PBET-extractable concentration (R2 > 0.649). Therefore, for both the CR and HI (NCR), the DGT-calculated risk was linearly related to the PBET-calculated risk for the studied soils under both scenarios. The results suggest that DGT uptake and PBET-extracted concentrations are good surrogates for risk estimation and that both J1 and J2 soils require remediation before their use for residential or non-residential purposes. 相似文献

Allyl isothiocyanate (AITC) is a phytochemical found in cruciferous vegetables that has known chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic activities. Thus far, the antiangiogenic activity of AITC has not been reported in in vivo studies. Herein, we investigated the effect of AITC on angiogenesis and inflammation in a mouse model of colitis. Experimental colitis was induced in mice by administering 3% dextran sulfate sodium via drinking water. To monitor the activity of AITC in this model, we measured body weight, disease activity indices, histopathological scores, microvascular density, myeloperoxidase activity, F4/80 staining, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression, cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression, and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-A/VEGF receptor 2 (VEGFR2) expression in the mice. We found that AITC-treated mice showed less weight loss, fewer clinical signs of colitis, and longer colons than vehicle-treated mice. AITC treatment also significantly lessened the disruption of colonic architecture that is normally associated with colitis and repressed the microvascularization response. Further, AITC treatment reduced both leukocyte recruitment and macrophage infiltration into the inflamed colon, and the mechanism these activities involved repressing iNOS and COX-2 expression. Finally, AITC attenuated the expression of VEGF-A and VEGFR2. Thus, AITC may have potential application in treating conditions marked by inflammatory-driven angiogenesis and mucosal inflammation. 相似文献

To study the genetic diversity and population structure of Lilium tsingtauense Gilg (Qingdao Lily), we collected 648 samples from 12 sites in China and Korea, and analyzed their Inter-Simple Sequence Repeat (ISSR) molecular markers and morphological characters. ISSR data revealed a relatively high genetic diversity at the species level, with 72.31% polymorphic loci, effective numbers of alleles of 1.437, average expected heterozygosity of 0.231 and Shannon’s information index of 0.369. Considerable genetic differentiation among the natural populations (GST = 0.144) and the gene flow (Nm = 1.487) were detected. AMOVA analysis and UPGMA-dendrogram suggested a hierarchical regional structure among populations, and spatial autocorrelation analysis showed a micro-scaled spatial structure. Furthermore, there was a high correlation between morphological characters and genetic parameters obtained from ISSR parameters. There was only a low genetic differentiation among the different morphological types of L. tsingtauence in China. Based on these findings, we recommend in situ and ex situ conservation strategies for the preservation of L. tsingtauense. 相似文献

A simple and efficient tool to isolate epithelial cells from bacteria-contaminated samples has been developed using two different microparticles functionalized with chemical molecules. The epithelial cells could be captured simply by biocompatible anchors for membranes (BAM), consisting of poly(ethylene glycol) functionalized with oleyl-chain-conjugated NHS (N-hydroxysuccinimide) on glass microparticles, whereas bacteria were adsorbed on 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (ATPS)-functionalized magnetic microparticles. In the case of samples highly contaminated with bacteria, epithelial cells were not isolated successfully by both of the single BAM- and antibody-functionalized microparticles. Therefore, serial isolation steps of these two different chemical functionalized microparticles were introduced. The concentration of bacteria was decreased dramatically by using APTS-functionalized magnetic particles prior to the isolation of epithelial cells by BAM microparticles. With these serial processes, successful isolation of epithelial cells was achieved from bacteria-contaminated epithelial samples. The applicability of this method was verified with bacteria-contaminated intestinal samples biopsied from a BALB/C mouse for primary cell cultivation. 相似文献
