Cyclometalation of benzo[h]quinoline (bzqH) by [RuCl(μ-Cl)(η6-C6H6)]2 in acetonitrile occurs in a similar way to that of 2-phenylpyridine (phpyH) to afford [Ru(bzq)(MeCN)4]PF6 (3) in 52% yield. The properties of 3 containing ‘non-flexible’ benzo[h]quinoline were compared with the corresponding [Ru(phpy)(MeCN)4]PF6 (1) complex with ‘flexible’ 2-phenylpyridine. The [Ru(phpy)(MeCN)4]PF6 complex is known to react in MeCN solvent with ‘non-flexible’ diimine 1,10-phenanthroline to form [Ru(phpy)(phen)(MeCN)2]PF6, being unreactive toward ‘flexible’ 2,2′-bipyridine under the same conditions. In contrast, complex 3 reacts both with phen and bpy in MeCN to form [Ru(bzq)(LL)(MeCN)2]PF6 {LL = bpy (4) and phen (5)}. Similar reaction of 3 in methanol results in the substitution of all four MeCN ligands to form [Ru(bzq)(LL)2]PF6 {LL = bpy (6) and phen (7)}. Photosolvolysis of 4 and 5 in MeOH occurs similarly to afford [Ru(bzq)(LL)(MeCN)(MeOH)]PF6 as a major product. This contrasts with the behavior of [Ru(phpy)(LL)(MeCN)2]PF6, which lose one and two MeCN ligands for LL = bpy and phen, respectively. The results reported demonstrate a profound sensitivity of properties of octahedral compounds to the flexibility of cyclometalated ligand. Analogous to the 2-phenylpyridine counterparts, compounds 4-7 are involved in the electron exchange with reduced active site of glucose oxidase from Aspergillus niger. Structure of complexes 4 and 6 was confirmed by X-ray crystallography.  相似文献

In this study, we describe the process of pedicle and first antler growth in Iberian red deer (Cervus elaphus hispanicus) and document relationships among body development, maternal milk supply and composition, and maternal weight on the length of first antlers. Antler length of 53 males of Iberian red deer was measured every 2 weeks from birth to 20 months of age. Deer weight, age, and the date of occurrence of the major events during the antler growth cycle were also recorded. The first evidence of pedicle development occurred when the animals were 38.0 ± 0.6 weeks old and weighed 60.7 ± 0.9 kg. Antler cleaning took place at a mean age of 63.8 ± 0.7 weeks and a mean weight of 91.5 ± 1.8 kg. The antler growth period lasted 16.7 ± 0.4 weeks, and the cleaning period lasted 5.1 ± 0.4 weeks. First antler growth followed a sigmoid curve, reaching a final length of 38.3 ± 1.0 cm. Antler length was positively correlated with body weight during the antler growth cycle. Additionally, the final length of the first antler was related to total milk yield, date of antler growth initiation, body weight at 6 months of age, and the antler growth time interval.  相似文献

Myometrial quiescence is a key factor in all species to accomplish a successful gestation. PGs play a crucial role in mediating parturition events, and their synthesis and metabolism are regulated by cyclooxygenases (COXs) and NAD(+)-dependent 15-hydroxy-PG dehydrogenase (PGDH), respectively. Progesterone (P(4)) is the hormone responsible for maintaining uterine smooth muscle quiescence during pregnancy. In this work, we have studied the effect of P(4) on the activity of COXs and PGDH, the uterine enzymes involved in the biosynthesis and metabolism of prostanoids in the rat. We found that during pregnancy PGF(2alpha) production and also protein levels of COX-1 and COX-2 were decreased. The exogenous administration of P(4) significantly inhibited the uterine production of PGF(2alpha) and also the protein level of COX-2. PGF(2alpha), metabolism was assessed by PGDH activity, which resulted high during pregnancy and increased as a result of P(4) administration. These results indicate that PGs levels were negatively modulated by P(4), which could be exerting its effect by increasing PGs metabolism through stimulation on PGDH activity and an inhibition on COX and that is a major mechanism for maintain uterine quiescence in pregnancy.  相似文献

Intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ipRGCs) are depolarized by light by two mechanisms: directly, through activation of their photopigment melanopsin; and indirectly through synaptic circuits driven by rods and cones. To learn more about the rod and cone circuits driving ipRGCs, we made multielectrode array (MEA) and patch-clamp recordings in wildtype and genetically modified mice. Rod-driven ON inputs to ipRGCs proved to be as sensitive as any reaching the conventional ganglion cells. These signals presumably pass in part through the primary rod pathway, involving rod bipolar cells and AII amacrine cells coupled to ON cone bipolar cells through gap junctions. Consistent with this interpretation, the sensitive rod ON input to ipRGCs was eliminated by pharmacological or genetic disruption of gap junctions, as previously reported for conventional ganglion cells. A presumptive cone input was also detectable as a brisk, synaptically mediated ON response that persisted after disruption of rod ON pathways. This was roughly three log units less sensitive than the rod input. Spectral analysis revealed that both types of cones, the M- and S-cones, contribute to this response and that both cone types drive ON responses. This contrasts with the blue-OFF, yellow-ON chromatic opponency reported in primate ipRGCs. The cone-mediated response was surprisingly persistent during steady illumination, echoing the tonic nature of both the rod input to ipRGCs and their intrinsic, melanopsin-based phototransduction. These synaptic inputs greatly expand the dynamic range and spectral bandpass of the non-image-forming visual functions for which ipRGCs provide the principal retinal input.  相似文献

Evernia prunastri Ach., an epiphytic lichen growing on Quercus rotundifolia Lam., produces a -1,4-glucanase (EC 3.2.1.4) and a polygalacturonase (EC 3.2.1.15). The activity of these polysaccharidases increases as a response to incubation of the lichen with carboxymethylcellulose or sodium polygalacturonate, respectively. This increase in activity is thought to be the result of enzyme induction because it is inhibited by both cycloheximide and 8-azaguanine. Both polysaccharide-degrading enzymes are partially secreted into the incubation media.  相似文献

This paper describes the characteristics of a binding site for the major, lipo-oligosaccharide Nod factor of Rhizobium meliloti in roots of the symbiotic host plant, Medicago truncatula. Chemically synthesized NodRm-IV(Ac, S, C16:2) was labelled by tritiation to a specific activity of 56 Ci mmol?1 and this ligand was shown to be biologically active in the root hair deformation assay at 10?11 M. Binding of the ligand to a particulate fraction from roots of M. truncatula was found to be saturable and reversible with an affinity (Kd) of 86 nM and the binding characteristics were consistent with a single class of binding sites. Competition with modified Nod factors showed that the binding was independent of both the O-acetyl and the sulphyl group and did not depend on the unsaturation of the fatty acid. However, both moieties of the lipo-oligosaccharide are required for high-affinity binding since tetra-N-acetyl-chitotetraose and palmitate were found to be poor competitors of ligand binding. A binding site with analogous characteristics was also found in a similarly prepared particulate fraction of tomato roots. This binding site for Nod factors, termed NFBS1, which is present in both a leguminous and a non-leguminous plant, may have a more general role than symbiosis.  相似文献

Yellow cyclometalatated ruthenium (II) complexes [Ru(o-X-2-py)(MeCN)4]PF6 (1, X = C6H4 (a) or 4-MeC6H3 (b)) react readily with 1,10-phenanthroline (LL) in MeCN to give brownish-red species cis-[Ru(o-X-2-py)(LL)(MeCN)2]PF6 in high yields. The same reaction of the same complexes under the same conditions with 2,2′-bipyridine results in a significant color change from yellow to brownish-orange suggesting a formation of new species. Surprisingly, X-ray structural studies of these two complexes showed that they are structurally indistinguishable from the starting complexes 1. Referred to as complexes 4a,b, the new compounds are slightly more stable in the air though their spectral characteristics in solution are similar to 1a,b. The diffuse reflectance spectroscopy is so far the only technique that indicated differences between 1 and 4.  相似文献
