Photosynthesis in ozone-exposed duckweed (Lemna gibba)   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The photosynthetic light saturation curve in duckweed was lowered by 20–25% after ozone exposure (300 nmol mol−1, 1 h). The light flux and oxygen concentration during ozone-exposure had no effect on reduction of net photosynthesis. Net photosynthesis and photorespiration were both depressed by about 40% after exposure for 1 h to 360 nmol mol−1 ozone. We could not find any change in dark respiration after ozone exposure below 300 nmol mol−1. When the concentration of ozone was doubled from 150 nmol mol−1 to 300 nmol mol−1, the uptake of ozone in duckweed changed from 100 nmol m−2 s−1 to 170 nmol m−2 s−1. We found no differences in fluorescence (pattern) between ozone treated plants and the control plants during a period of 150 min after ozone treatment, but there was an increase in synthesis of the Dl-protein and a significant reduction in degradation after ozone treatment (300 nmol mol−1, 1 h). These results, together with fluorescence measurements, indicate that photochemical electron transport was not responsible for the ozone-induced reduction in net photosynthesis.  相似文献

A pair of chimeric twins, T.S. (male) and M.R. (female) first examined in 1970 are reinvestigated in order to determine if the proportions of admixture of red cells in their blood are unchanged, and if erythrocytes and leukocytes show the same percentage of admixture. T.S., M.R. and their family are investigated for HLA, serum types, and erythrocyte antigens and enzymes. A quantitative determination of 'foreign' cell populations in the blood of each twin is attempted for the systems ABO, and HLA, and for sex chromosomes in PHA stimulated lymphocytes. The results for the ABO system obtained by agglutination technique and by a double-layer immunofluorescence technique indicate that the population of M.R. erythrocytes in T.S. has decreased during the 7-year period, and is now below half the size found in 1970. Erythrocytes and leukocytes show the same percentage of admixture in both twins.  相似文献

The HLA-GLO linkage relationship was investigated among 37 single backcross families with 97 children and 20 double intercross families with 51 children. For the total number of families the value Zmas = 14.600 for theta = 0.060 was found. A total of 11 cross-overs between HLA and GLO were found leading to a recombination fraction of 0.067. 221 unrelated haplotypes were examined for linkage disequilibrium between HLA and GLO, and no disequilibrium was found.  相似文献

Summary Lowland rice (RD 3) was cultivated in containers of clay soil submerged with 5 cm water under controlled conditions in the phytotron. Deep placement of urea supergranules 5 cm in the soil significantly enhanced both plant growth and fertilizer efficiency when the plants were cultivated under high light intensity (70 Wm–2). At the highest urea level grain yield increased 119% above the control level, while growth and fertilizer efficiency was not as high when deep placement of calcium nitrate was used.The application of urea prills and calcium nitrate (18.4g Nm–2) in two split doses on the soil surface increased grain yield as much as 91% above the control level. At the lower nitrogen concentration (9.2 g N m–2), the urea prills were more efficient than calcium nitrate as indicated by the grain yield. The height of those plants fertilized by surface application was affected by the concentration and not the type of fertilizer. The number of tillers, however, was significantly higher on urea fertilized plants.When the rice plants were cultivated under low light intensity 930 Wm–2), neither the nitrogen fertilizers nor the method of application had a significant effect on growth and yield.  相似文献

A novel principle for mixing and aeration in stirred bioreactors, named Variomixing, was developed. Four baffles are rotated intermittently at a rotational speed slower or similar to the speed of a centrally placed axial flow impeller. Rotational speeds of the baffles and impeller of 5–10 and 500–600 rpm, respectively, results in the highly turbulent flow regime characteristic of conventional bioreactors with high mixing and mass transfer capacities. Stagnant zones around crevices and crannies in which wall growth may commence are avoided since the baffles are never completely at rest. Increasing the rotational speed of the baffles (5 s every 5 min), so that it follows the speed of the impeller (500–600 rpm), cancels the effect of the baffles and a deep vortex and high peripheral liquid flow rates at the reactor wall develop. The vortex ensures that also the head-space of the reactor wall is flushed and any deposits removed. The filamentous fungus Aspergillus oryzae has been grown in batch cultures in the Variomixing bioreactor. Compared to conventional laboratory-scale bioreactors, in which more than 30% of all biomass was found attached to walls, less than 2% of the total A. oryzae biomass was found on the walls in the Variomixing bioreactor.  相似文献

Here, for the first time in an ascaridoid (Hysterothylacium auctum), we present structural features of the phasmids, paired sense organs, positioned in a bilateral manner close to the point of the tail; the features were obtained using scanning and transmission electron microscopy. We found that each phasmid consists of a single ciliated dendritic process situated in a phasmidial canal surrounded by 2 supporting cells, a socket and a sheath cell. The socket cell contains clusters of electron-dense fibrous material in its apical region and covers the phasmidial canal along its whole length. The sheath cell is characterized by a well-developed endoplasmic reticulum. The phasmidial canal is lined with a thin layer of cuticle that becomes incomplete at the base of the ciliated dendritic process. In this region, the dendritic process consists primarily of a high number of microtubule singlets and some peripheral microtubule doublets. The base of the dendritic process, containing numerous striated rootlets, gives off a large number of fingerlike offshoots, villi, invading the surrounding sheath cell. The systematic significance and functional implication of the phasmid in nematodes are also discussed.  相似文献
