A new protein was isolated from lysates of washed human erythrocytes in a two step procedure using ionexchange chromatography and gel filtration. The protein has the electrophoretic mobility of a beta1-globulin. On ultracentrifugation the purified protein when dissolved in a 0.05 M phosphate buffer (pH 6.8), containing 0.2 M NaCl sediments with 6.88 S and shows a molecular weight of 150,000-180,000 daltons. In salt solutions with higher ionic strength the molecules dissociate reversibly into subunits which have a molecular weight of 40,000-45,000 daltons. The 7S-beta1-erythrocyte protein according to its behavior at ultracentrifugation, gel filtration and SDS poly-acrylamide gel electrophreses apparently is composed of 4 identical or similar subunits which are loosely held together by noncovalent bonds. Chemically the 7S-beta1-erythrocyte protein consists of 99% amino acids and 1% carbohydrates. The concentration of this protein in erythrocytes amounts to 250 mg per 100 ml packed red blood cells. The protein is not found in the membrane. In its physical, chemical and immunochemical properties the 7S-beta1-erythrocyte protein differs from all other well defined proteins and enzymes from human red cells thus far known. 相似文献

Jede Geschmacksknospe ist aus 2 Zelltypen aufgebaut: den Rezeptorzellen und den sie umhüllenden Stützzellen. Die sich von der Geschmacksknospenbasis bis zur Oberfläche erstreckenden Stützzellen tragen einen Mikrovillibesatz. — Die einheitlich gestalteten Rezeptoren, die im Längsschnitt spindelförmig, im Querschnitt rund sind, besitzen zum Unterschied von den Stützzellen zahlreiche Mitochondrien und peripher gelagerte Vesikel sowie 2 Typen von Tubuli. Der Zellapex trägt einen über die freie Oberfläche senkrecht hinausragenden, schlankkegelförmigen Fortsatz mit rundem oder ovalem Querschnitt. — Innerhalb der Bindegewebspapille befindet sich dicht unter der Geschmacksknospenbasis ein Plexus von Axonbündeln, von dem aus die Axone meist einzeln an das Perikaryon der Rezeptorzellen herantreten. In der Nähe der Kontaktstelle mit dem Rezeptor sind häufig Tubulibündel zu finden. — Die meisten Geschmacksknospen enthalten einzelne degenerierende Zellen. — Im Epithel zwischen den Geschmacksknospen wurde ein besonderer Sekretzellentyp nachgewiesen.

Summary The taste buds of the barbels of Corydoras paleatus have been studied with the electron microscope. Each taste bud is composed of two cell types: receptor cells and supporting cells. The supporting cells extend from the base of the taste bud to the surface where they bear microvilli. The apex of the uniform, spindle shaped receptor cells has a free, cone-shaped appendage. The receptor cells, unlike the supporting cells, contain numerous mitochondria, peripherally-located vesicles, and two types of tubuli. Single axons project from a nerve plexus close to the base of the taste bud and run to perikarya of the receptor cells. Frequently bundles of tubuli lie close to the area of contact between axon and receptor cell membranes. Most of the taste buds contain individual degenerating cells. A special type of secretory cell is present in the epithelium of the barbels.相似文献

Diese Befunde werden mit den Ergebnissen anderer Autoren verglichen, die zeigen, daß eine Vielzahl von Vogelarten UV-empfindlich ist (entweder mit einem UV-Rezeptor oder eingeschränkt mit einem Violett-Rezeptor). Diese UV-Empfindlichkeit könnten Vögel nützen zur Orientierung am Polarisationsmuster der Sonne, zur Art-und/oder Partnererkennung, bzw. zur Nahrungssuche.

The results of a microspectrophotometric and a behavioural test present evidence that the passeriform birdLeiothrix lutea (Timaliidae) possesses a genuine UV cone type and is highly sensitive in the UV part of the spectrum. Those data are in accordance with results of other tests indicating that a majority of bird species is UV sensitive (either by a UV cone type or somewhat limited by a violet cone typ). In the absence of independent observational data, ecologists and paleoecologists use proxies for the Eltonian niches of species (i.e., the resource or dietary axes of the niche). Some dietary proxies exploit the fact that mammalian teeth experience wear during mastication, due to both tooth‐on‐tooth and food‐on‐tooth interactions. The distribution and types of wear detectible at micro‐ and macroscales are highly correlated with the resource preferences of individuals and, in turn, species. Because methods that quantify the distribution of tooth wear (i.e., analytical tooth wear methods) do so by direct observation of facets and marks on the teeth of individual animals, dietary inferences derived from them are thought to be independent of the clade to which individuals belong. However, an assumption of clade or phylogenetic independence when making species‐level dietary inferences may be misleading if phylogenetic niche conservatism is widespread among mammals. Herein, we test for phylogenetic signal in data from numerous analytical tooth wear studies, incorporating macrowear (i.e., mesowear) and microwear (i.e., low‐magnification microwear and dental microwear texture analysis). Using two measures of phylogenetic signal, heritability (H2) and Pagel's λ, we find that analytical tooth wear data are not independent of phylogeny and failing to account for such nonindependence leads to overestimation of discriminability among species with different dietary preferences. We suggest that morphological traits inherited from ancestral clades (e.g., tooth shape) influence the ways in which the teeth wear during mastication and constrain the foods individuals of a species can effectively exploit. We do not suggest that tooth wear is simply phylogeny in disguise; the tooth wear of individuals and species likely varies within some range that is set by morphological constraints. We therefore recommend the use of phylogenetic comparative methods in studies of mammalian tooth wear, whenever possible. 相似文献
