An electron paramagnetic resonance study of free radicals in cells.

An electron paramagnetic resonance study was performed on cell lines of the following strains: HeLa, 37RC, L, FLC, NRK/RSV, 3T3/SV40. Unsynchronized and synchronized HeLa cells were studied with particular attention paid to the relation between growth and free radical concentration. Free radical levels were shown to be a function of the growth stage and different phases of the cell cycle.     

Changes in the peripheral blood lymphocytes after immunization and its effect on the course of experimental inflammatory process in the lungs

It was shown that in the immunization of rabbits with sorbed staphylococcus toxoid and human albumin, at the height of the immune response there occurred an intensification of biosynthesis and destabilization of lysosomal membranes of blood leukocytes, with a simultaneous development of microcirculation disturbances in the lungs. Development of pneumonia against the background of immunization led to a greater destabilization of the lysosomic membranes of leukocytes and to the intensification in the lungs of infiltrative and destructive processes, in comparison with the course of inflammation in the nonimmunized animals. Peculiarities of the antigens used caused some specificity in the course of pneumonia. A relationship between the changes of blood leukocytes and disturbances in the lungs in immunization is supposed.     

Changes in the renal corpuscles during early postnatal ontogeny of the rat (stereologic analysis)

Kidneys of 60 white rats at the age of 1-45 days of postnatal life have been investigated. Increase in size of the renal corpuscles during the developmental process is accompanied with certain changes in the form and variability of volumes in the structures studied. During early postnatal period, against the background of linear increase in the size of the renal corpuscles, the parameters of variability in volumes, form and in the total number of the renal corpuscles in the organ change non-linear. Stabilization moment of the total number (11-14 days) on the 8th-10th day outgoes that for the parameters of the form and variability of the renal corpuscle volumes.
