Introduction
The prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection (HPI) has been decreasing in developed countries, with an increasing prevalence of Barrett's esophagus (BE) and esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) at the same time. The aim of our meta‐analysis was to quantify the risk of BE in the context of HPI.Methods
A systematic search was conducted in 3 databases for studies on BE with data on prevalence of HPI from inception until December 2016. Odds ratios for BE in HPI were calculated by the random effects model with subgroup analyses for geographical location, presence of dysplasia in BE, and length of the BE segment.Results
Seventy‐two studies were included in the meta‐analysis, including 84 717 BE cases and 390 749 controls. The overall analysis showed that HPI reduces the risk of BE; OR = 0.68 (95% CI: 0.58‐0.79, P < .001). Subgroup analyses revealed risk reduction in Asia OR = 0.53 (95% CI: 0.33‐0.84, P = .007), Australia OR = 0.56 (95% CI: 0.39‐0.80, P = .002), Europe OR = 0.77 (95% CI: 0.60‐0.98, P = .035), and North‐America OR = 0.59 (95% CI: 0.47‐0.74, P < .001). The risk was significantly reduced for dysplastic BE, OR = 0.37 (95% CI: 0.26‐0.51, P < .001) for non‐dysplastic BE, OR = 0.51 (95% CI: 0.35‐0.75, P = .001), and for long segment BE, OR = 0.25 (95% CI: 0.11‐0.59, P = .001) in case of HPI.Conclusions
This extensive meta‐analysis provides additional evidence that HPI is associated with reduced risk of BE. Subgroup analyses confirmed that this risk reduction is independent of geographical location. Antibodies to citrullinated proteins (anti-cyclic-citrullinated peptide [anti-CCP] antibodies) are highly specific for rheumatoid
arthritis (RA) and precede the onset of disease symptoms, indicating a pathogenetic role for these antibodies in RA. We recently
showed that distinct genetic risk factors are associated with either anti-CCP-positive disease or anti-CCP-negative disease.
These data are important as they indicate that distinct pathogenic mechanisms are underlying anti-CCP-positive disease or
anti-CCP-negative disease. Likewise, these observations raise the question of whether anti-CCP-positive RA and anti-CCP-negative
RA are clinically different disease entities. We therefore investigated whether RA patients with anti-CCP antibodies have
a different clinical presentation and disease course compared with patients without these autoantibodies. In a cohort of 454
incident patients with RA, 228 patients were anti-CCP-positive and 226 patients were anti-CCP-negative. The early symptoms,
tender and swollen joint count, and C-reactive protein level at inclusion, as well as the swollen joint count and radiological
destruction during 4 years of follow-up, were compared for the two groups. There were no differences in morning stiffness,
type, location and distribution of early symptoms, patients' rated disease activity and C-reactive protein at inclusion between
RA patients with and without anti-CCP antibodies. The mean tender and swollen joint count for the different joints at inclusion
was similar. At follow-up, patients with anti-CCP antibodies had more swollen joints and more severe radiological destruction.
Nevertheless, the distribution of affected joints, for swelling, bone erosions and joint space narrowing, was similar. In
conclusion, the phenotype of RA patients with or without anti-CCP antibodies is similar with respect to clinical presentation

The aim of this study was to determine whether capillarity in the denervated and reinnervated rat extensor digitorum longus muscle (EDL) is scaled by muscle fiber oxidative potential. We visualized capillaries adjacent to a metabolically defined fiber type and estimated capillarity of fibers with very high oxidative potential (O) vs fibers with very low oxidative potential (G). Capillaries and muscle fiber types were shown by a combined triple immunofluorescent technique and the histochemical method for NADH-tetrazolium reductase. Stacks of images were captured by a confocal microscope. Applying the Ellipse program, fibers were outlined, and the diameter, perimeter, cross-sectional area, length, surface area, and volume within the stack were calculated for both fiber types. Using the Tracer plug-in module, capillaries were traced within the three-dimensional (3D) volume, the length of capillaries adjacent to individual muscle fibers was measured, and the capillary length per fiber length (Lcap/Lfib), surface area (Lcap/Sfib), and volume (Lcap/Vfib) were calculated. Furthermore, capillaries and fibers of both types were visualized in 3D. In all experimental groups, O and G fibers significantly differed in girth, Lcap/Sfib, and Lcap/Vfib, but not in Lcap/Lfib. Spike protein is one of the major structural proteins of severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus. It is essential for the interaction of the virons with host cell receptors and subsequent fusion of the viral envelop with host cell membrane to allow infection. Some spike proteins of coronavirus, such as MHV, HCoV-OC43, AIBV and BcoV, are proteolytically cleaved into two subunits, S 1 and S2. In contrast, TGV, FIPV and HCoV-229E are not. Many studies have shown that the cleavage of spike protein seriously affects its function. In order to investigate the maturation and proteolytic processing of the S protein of SARS CoV, we generated S 1 and S2 subunit specific antibodies (Abs) as well as N, E and 3CL protein-specific Abs. Our results showed that the antibodies could efficiently and specifically bind to their corresponding proteins from E.coli expressed or lysate of SARS-CoV infected Vero-E6 cells by Western blot analysis. Furthermore, the anti-S 1 and S2 Abs were proved to be capable of binding to SARS CoV under electron microscope observation. When S2 Ab was used to perform immune precipitation with lysate of SARS-CoV infected cells, a cleaved S2 fragment was detected with S2-specific mAb by Western blot analysis. The data demonstrated that the cleavage of S protein was observed in the lysate, indicating that proteolytic processing of S protein is present in host cells. 相似文献

Cimicifuga nanchuanensis P. K. Hsiao (Ranunculaceae) has been regarded as an imperfectly known species. Based on critical examination of herbarium specimens and living plants we have determined that it is a morphologically distinctive species and that its geographical range is much wider than believed before, far from locally endemic to its type locality. Our cytological examination reveals the species to be a diploid (2n = 16). Our molecular phylogenetic analyses using nrDNA and cpDNA datasets confirm our morphological observations. As the generic concept and delimitation of Actaea L., in which Cimicifuga Wernisch. and Souliea Franch. are included, have also been strongly corroborated by our molecular phylogenetic analyses, here we adopt a broad Actaea and make a new combination for the species in question, i.e. Actaea nanchuanensis (P. The Integrated Biosphere Simulator (IBIS)—a Dynamic Global Vegetation Model—was validated by simulating the potential natural
vegetation map of China using data on monthly mean climate from 1961 to 1990, soil texture, and topography. Although the vegetation
map simulated by IBIS was able to describe the sketch of vegetation patterns in China, the distributions of several plant
functional types (PFTs) and vegetation types were still simulated incorrectly, especially in eastern temperate areas, southern
subtropics, the southern Sichuan basin, and the Hengduan mountains area. By adjusting some of the climatic constraints and
physiological parameters of PFTs defined in IBIS, the simulated distributions of PFTs became reasonable, and the simulated
vegetation map fitted the natural vegetation map better. The kappa statistic between the simulated and the natural vegetation
maps was 0.76, an increase of 16.9% from the previous parameter adjustment of 0.65. Correspondingly, the degree of agreement
between these two maps rose from “good” to “very good”. After the parameter adjustments, IBIS became more suitable for the
large-scale simulation of Chinese natural vegetation distributions and could provide a powerful support to reveal the dynamic
responses of terrestrial ecosystems to climate change in China. 相似文献

Increasing evidence supports the hypothesis that tannic acid, a plant polyphenol, exerts anticarcinogenic activity in chemically induced cancers. In the present study, tannic acid was found to strongly inhibit tyrosine kinase activity of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFr) in vitro (IC50 = 323 nM). In contrast, the inhibition by tannic acid of p60(c-src) tyrosine kinase (IC50 = 14 microM) and insulin receptor tyrosine kinase (IC50 = 5 microM) was much weaker. The inhibition of EGFr tyrosine kinase by tannic acid was competitive with respect to ATP and non-competitive with respect to peptide substrate. In cultured cells, growth factor-induced tyrosine phosphorylation of growth factor receptors, including EGFr, platelet-derived growth factor receptor, and basic fibroblast growth factor receptor, was inhibited by tannic acid. No inhibition of insulin-induced tyrosine phosphorylation of insulin receptor and insulin-receptor substrate-1 was observed. EGF-stimulated growth of HepG2 cells was inhibited in the presence of tannic acid. The inhibition of serine/threonine-specific protein kinases, including cAMP-dependent protein kinase, protein kinase C and mitogen-activated protein kinase, by tannic acid was only detected at relatively high concentration, IC50 being 3, 325 and 142 microM respectively. The molecular modeling study suggested that tannic acid could be docked into the ATP binding pockets of either EGFr or insulin receptor. These results demonstrate that tannic acid is an in vitro potent inhibitor of EGFr tyrosine kinase. 相似文献

Summary Acetylcholinesterase was demonstrated at ultrastructural level in the motor nerve cells of rat's spinal cord using the Karnovsky-Roots modification of Koelle's thiocholine method. Selective inhibitors were employed to check the validity of the reaction.Prolonged formaldehyde fixation improved the poor penetration of the reactive agents and diminished the relatively large crystal size of the end product, which were the two main difficulties of the method.
