This paper constitutes the first report in a research series undertaken in order to clarify the interactive relationships among soybean meal protein, calcium and phytic acid in solution and in precipitate.

Data presented are mainly concerned with solubility characteristics of soybean meal proteins as a function of pH. The results support the suggestion as follows; phosphorus and calcium give the remarkable effects on solubility characteristics of protein, the complex containing protein, calcium and phosphorus is formed above isoelectric point of protein and the combinations are labile above at pH 8, especially by heating.  相似文献

The generic composition of the heterotrophic bacterial population of Tokyo Bay, which is now highly polluted and eutrophic, was compared with that of the adjacent, less polluted regions of Sagami Bay and Suruga Bay. Members of Vibrionaceae predominated in the bacterial flora of seawater and zooplankton samples from Sagami Bay, Suruga Bay, and the mouth of Tokyo Bay. However,Vibrio spp. formed only a small proportion of the bacterial population of the water and sediment samples from the inner Tokyo Bay; there the Gram-negative, nonmotile, nonpigmented bacteria, which were tentatively identified asAcinetobacter, were predominant. The result of experiments, in which seawater samples from Tokyo Bay were incubated under various experimental conditions, indicated that two significant factors apparently control the growth ofVibrio spp. in seawater; (1) a direct antagonism betweenVibrios and phytoplankton undergoing rapid growth, and (2) a limiting organic nutrient forvibrios.  相似文献

We studied the synergistic effects of Japanese green tea extract (JGTE) and levofloxacin (LVFX) against enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) infection in a gnotobiotic mouse model. Mice fed on JGTE conferred a significant degree of protection against an oral challenge with EHEC. Complete elimination of the bacteria from the mice, was however, difficult. The combination of JGTE and LVFX increased the survival rate and reduced damage to target organs. Thus, dietary supplementation with JGTE improved the therapeutic effects of antibiotic treatment. For many primates, sweet taste is palatable and is an indicator that the food contains carbohydrates, such as sugars and starches, as energy sources. However, we have found that Asian colobine monkeys (lutungs and langurs) have low sensitivity to various natural sugars. Sweet tastes are recognized when compounds bind to the sweet taste receptor TAS1R2/TAS1R3 in the oral cavity; accordingly, we conducted a functional assay using a heterologous expression system to evaluate the responses of Javan lutung (Trachypithecus auratus) TAS1R2/TAS1R3 to various natural sugars. We found that Javan lutung TAS1R2/TAS1R3 did not respond to natural sugars such as sucrose and maltose. We also conducted a behavioral experiment using the silvery lutung (Trachypithecus cristatus) and Hanuman langur (Semnopithecus entellus) by measuring the consumption of sugar-flavored jellies. Consistent with the functional assay results for TAS1R2/TAS1R3, these Asian colobine monkeys showed no preference for sucrose or maltose jellies. These results demonstrate that sweet taste sensitivity to natural sugars is low in Asian colobine monkeys, and this may be related to the specific feeding habits of colobine monkeys.  相似文献

We examined the effect of Japanese green tea extract (JGTE) on enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) O157:H7 infection in a gnotobiotic mouse model. Gnotobiotic mice inoculated with an EHEC strain developed neurologic and systemic symptoms, usually culminating in death. In contrast, none of mice receiving dietary JGTE showed clinical signs or death. This report describes the effect of JGTE, which includes the inhibition of bacterial growth in vivo. The Shiga-like toxin (SLT) level in the feces of the JGTE diet group was significantly lower than that of the control group.  相似文献

Among some 38 strains of the genus Penicillium we investigated seven wild-type strains (P. daleae IFO-6087, P. frequentans AHU-8328, P. funiculosum IAM-7013, P. janthinellum IFO-8070, IAM-7026, P. lividum IAM-7200, and P. oxalicum AHU-8336) that were found to be excellent strains for a new type of acid carboxypeptidase production in a surface koji culture at 25 C. The production of acid carboxypeptidase was determined in various culture conditions in a koji culture. The maximum yields of acid carboxypeptidase were obtained by P. janthinellum IFO-8070. Partial purification and isolation of the acid carboxypeptidase from strains of Penicillium were performed with gel filtration on Bio-Gel P-100. Characterization studies indicate that the acid carboxypeptidases from P. daleae IFO-6087, P. funiculosum IAM-7013, P. janthinellum IFO-8070, and P. oxalicum AHU-8336 have some properties similar to those of the enzyme of Aspergillus saitoi with regard to the hydrolysis of several peptides at acidic pH range but have other slightly different properties with regard to stability, pH optima, inhibitors, and molecular weights.  相似文献
