Circular RNAs (circRNAs) were recently discovered as a looped subset of competing endogenous RNAs, with an ability to regulate gene expression by microRNA sponging. There are several studies on their potential roles in cancer development, such as colorectal cancer and basal cell carcinoma. However, there is still a significant gap in the knowledge about circRNA functions in breast cancer (BC) progression. The current study systematically reviewed circRNA biogenesis and their potential roles as a novel biomarker in BC on published studies of the MEDLINE®/PubMed, Cochrane®, and Scopus® databases. The obtained results showed a general dysregulation of circRNAs expression in BC cells with a cell-type and stage-specific manner. The potential connection between circRNAs and BC cell proliferation, apoptosis, metastasis, and chemotherapy sensitivity and resistance were discussed.  相似文献

Nowadays bioactive compounds have gained great attention in food and drug industries owing to their health aspects as well as antimicrobial and antioxidant attributes. Nevertheless, their bioavailability, bioactivity, and stability can be affected in different conditions and during storage. In addition, some bioactive compounds have undesirable flavor that restrict their application especially at high dosage in food products. Therefore, food industry needs to find novel techniques to overcome these problems. Microencapsulation is a technique, which can fulfill the mentioned requirements. Also, there are many wall materials for use in encapsulation procedure such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and various kinds of polymers. The utilization of food-grade and safe carriers have attracted great interest for encapsulation of food ingredients. Yeast cells are known as a novel carrier for microencapsulation of bioactive compounds with benefits such as controlled release, protection of core substances without a significant effect on sensory properties of food products. Saccharomyces cerevisiae was abundantly used as a suitable carrier for food ingredients. Whole cells as well as cell particles like cell wall and plasma membrane can act as a wall material in encapsulation process. Compared to other wall materials, yeast cells are biodegradable, have better protection for bioactive compounds and the process of microencapsulation by them is relatively simple. The encapsulation efficiency can be improved by applying some pretreatments of yeast cells. In this article, the potential application of yeast cells as an encapsulating material for encapsulation of bioactive compounds is reviewed.  相似文献

Background

Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is a common autoimmune disorder diagnosed with thrombocytopenia and bleeding symptoms due to production of autoantibodies (Abs) against platelets. Nowadays, microRNAs are known as novel biomarkers for diagnosis of diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression levels of miR-21 and miR-150 in ITP patients and determine the role of these miRNAs in ITP pathogenesis.

Materials and Methods

Thirty newly diagnosed patients with acute ITP and 30 healthy subjects( age and sex matched) as controls were enrolled in this study. The expression level of miR-21 and miR-150 was investigated using Real-time-PCR. Comparison of demographic characteristics of the cases was done using independent t-test and chi-square test. Comparison of the expression level of miR-21 and miR-150 with the related parameters was done using independent t-test or Mann–Whitney and Kruskal–Wallis test. Spearman rho correlation coefficient was used to investigate the relationship between the expression of miR-21 and miR-150 with demographic characteristics.

Results

The expression of miR-21, 150 in the patients was not different compared with the control group in general. A significant relationship between the expression of miR-21 with hemoglobin, hematocrit and red blood cell hemoglobin concentration was observed.

Discussion

Expression of miR-21 and miR-150 is not associated with pathogenesis of acute ITP and can involve the synergistic role of other miRNAs. Investigation of miR-21 and miR-150 expression along with other miRNAs and cytokines can be helpful in diagnosis and pathogenesis of ITP.

These molecular markers are genetic variations associated with a predisposition to common diseases and individual variations in drug responses. Identification and genotyping a vast number of genetic polymorphisms in large populations are increasingly important for disease gene identification, pharmacogenetics and population-based studies. Among variations being analyzed, single nucleotide polymorphisms seem to be most useful in large-scale genetic analysis.
