The purpose of this study was to quantify movement demands of elite international age grade (U20) rugby union players during competitive tournament match play. Forty elite professional players from an U20 international performance squad were monitored using 10Hz global positioning systems (GPS) during 15 international tournament matches during the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons. Data on distances, velocities, accelerations, decelerations, high metabolic load (HML) distance and efforts, and number of sprints were derived. Data files from players who played over 60 min (n = 161) were separated firstly into Forwards and Backs, and more specifically into six positional groups; FR—Front Row (prop & hooker), SR—Second Row, BR—Back Row (Flankers & No.8), HB—Half Backs (scrum half & outside half), MF—Midfield (centres), B3 –Back Three (wings & full back) for match analysis. Analysis revealed significant differences between forwards and backs positions. Backs scored higher on all variables measured with the exception of number of moderate accelerations, decelerations (no difference). The centres covered the greatest total distance with the front row covering the least (6.51 ± 0.71 vs 4.97 ± 0.75 km, p < 0.001). The front row also covered the least high speed running (HSR) distance compared to the back three (211.6 ± 112.7 vs 728.4 ± 150.2 m, p < 0.001) who covered the most HSR distance, affirming that backs cover greater distances but forwards have greater contact loads. These findings highlight for the first time differences in the movement characteristics of elite age grade rugby union players specific to positional roles. 相似文献
25 aromatic carboxylic acids which are analogs of benzoic acid were tested in the rat diaphragm preparation for effects on chloride conductance (G(Cl)). Of the 25, 19 were shown to reduce membrane G(Cl) with little effect on other membrane parameters, although their apparent K(i) varied widely. This inhibition was reversible if exposure times were not prolonged. The most effective analog studied was anthracene-9-COOH (9-AC; K(i) = 1.1 x 10(-5) M). Active analogs produced concentration-dependent inhibition of a type consistent with interaction at a single site or group of sites having similar binding affinities, although a correlation could also be shown between lipophilicity and K(i). Structure-activity analysis indicated that hydrophobic ring substitution usually increased inhibitory activity while para polar substitutions reduced effectiveness.
These compounds do not appear to inhibit G(Cl) by altering membrane surface charge and the inhibition produced is not voltage dependent. Qualitative characteristics of the I-V relationship for Cl(-) current are not altered. Conductance to all anions is not uniformly altered by these acids as would be expected from steric occlusion of a common channel. Concentrations of 9-AC reducing G(Cl) by more than 90 percent resulted in slight augmentation of G(I). The complete conductance sequence obtained at high levels of 9-AC was the reverse of that obtained under control conditions. Permeability sequences underwent progressive changes with increasing 9-AC concentration and ultimately inverted at high levels of the analog. Aromatic carboxylic acids appear to inhibit G(Cl) by binding to a specific intramembrane site and altering the selectivity sequence of the membrane anion channel.
High-value trees, such as those located in residential, recreational, or administrative sites, are particularly susceptible to bark beetle (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae) attack as a result of increased amounts of stress associated with drought, soil compaction, mechanical injury, or vandalism. Tree losses in these unique environments generally have a substantial impact. The value of these individual trees, cost of removal, and loss of esthetics may justify protection until the main thrust of a bark beetle infestation subsides. This situation emphasizes the need for ensuring that effective insecticides are available for individual tree protection. In this study, we assess the efficacy of bifenthrin (Onyx) and carbaryl (Sevin SL) for protecting: ponderosa pine, Pinus ponderosa Dougl. ex. Laws., from western pine beetle, Dendroctonus brevicomis LeConte, in California; mountain pine beetle, Dendroctonus ponderosae Hopkins in South Dakota; and Ips spp. in Arizona; lodgepole pine, Pinus contorta Dougl. ex Loud., from D. ponderosae in Montana; pinyon, Pinus edulis Engelm. in Colorado and Pinus monophylla Torr. and Frem. in Nevada from pinyon ips, Ips confusus (LeConte); and Engelmann spruce, Picea engelmannii Parry ex. Engelm. from spruce beetle, Dendroctonus rufipennis (Kirby) in Utah. Few trees were attacked by Ips spp. in Arizona and that study was discontinued. Sevin SL (2.0%) was effective for protecting P. ponderosa, P. contorta, and P. monophylla for two field seasons. Estimates of efficacy could not be made during the second field season in P. edulis and P. engelmannii due to insufficient mortality in untreated, baited control trees. Two field seasons of efficacy was demonstrated in P. ponderosa/D. brevicomis and P. monophylla for 0.06% Onyx. We conclude that Onyx is an effective individual tree protection tool, but repeated annual applications may be required in some systems if multiyear control is desired. 相似文献
The reactive disulfide 4,4′-dithiodipyridine (4,4′DTDP) was added to single cardiac ryanodine receptors (RyRs) in lipid bilayers.
The activity of native RyRs, with cytoplasmic (cis) [Ca2+] of 10−7
m (in the absence of Mg2+ and ATP), increased within ∼1 min of addition of 1 mm 4,4′-DTDP, and then irreversibly ceased 5 to 6 min after the addition. Channels, inhibited by either 1 mm
cis Mg2+ (10−7
m
cis Ca2+) or by 10 mm
cis Mg2+ (10−3
m
cis Ca2+), or activated by 4 mm ATP (10−7
m
cis Ca2+), also responded to 1 mm
cis 4,4′-DTDP with activation and then loss of activity. Po and mean open time (To) of the maximally activated channels were lower in the presence of Mg2+ than in its absence, and the number of openings within the long time constant components of the open time distribution was
reduced. In contrast to the reduced activation by 1 mm 4,4′-DTDP in channels inhibited by Mg2+, and the previously reported enhanced activation by 4,4′-DTDP in channels activated by Ca2+ or caffeine (Eager et al., 1997), the activation produced by 1 mm
cis 4,4′-DTDP was the same in the presence and absence of ATP. These results suggest that there is a physical interaction between
the ATP binding domain of the cardiac RyR and the SH groups whose oxidation leads to channel activation.

Evolutionary theory suggests that the selection pressure on parasites to maximize their transmission determines their optimal
host exploitation strategies and thus their virulence. Establishing the adaptive basis to parasite life history traits has
important consequences for predicting parasite responses to public health interventions. In this study we examine the extent
to which malaria parasites conform to the predicted adaptive trade-off between transmission and virulence, as defined by mortality.
The majority of natural infections, however, result in sub-lethal virulent effects (e.g. anaemia) and are often composed of
many strains. Both sub-lethal effects and pathogen population structure have been theoretically shown to have important consequences
for virulence evolution. Thus, we additionally examine the relationship between anaemia and transmission in single and mixed
clone infections. 相似文献
Members of the ZFY and ZNF6 gene families have been cloned from species
representing different taxa and different modes of sex determination.
Comparisons of these genes show the ZFY-like and ZNF6 sequences to be
strongly conserved across marsupials, birds, and lepidosaurians. Sequence
analyzed by neighbor-joining indicated that both gene families are
monophyletic with a high bootstrap value. Pairing of sequences from males
and females of nonmammalian species showed there to be no significant
difference between male and female sequences from a single species,
consistent with autosomal locations. The molecular distances between murine
Zfy-1, Zfy-2, and other ZFY-like sequences suggested that Zfy genes have
undergone a period of rapid evolutionary change not seen in human ZFY.
