Cellular stress response was investigated in two lines of D. virilis: wild type and line with disturbed neurohormonal stress-reaction. Analysis of proteins, synthesized in salivary glands of larvae of both lines under heat stress, revealed malfunction in heat shock reaction of mutant specimen. This malfunction expresses in decreased level of heat shock protein synthesis. Analysis of electrophoretic spectra of proteins from homogenates of imagoes of both lines maintained under normal conditions and those exposed to heat (38 degrees C, 60 min.) revealed correlation between protein spectrum and physiological state of the organism. Interlinear differences by proteins spectra in normal condition, controlled by a single gene (or by block of closely linked genes), were found. The question if there is a common genetic control for the neurohormonal stress-reaction and cellular stress response is discussed. 相似文献

The taxonomic composition of microbial communities of Lake Baikal surface microlayer was studied by pyrosequencing of the 16S rDNA amplicons. Statistically reliable differences were found between bacterioneuston of the shallow and deep-water stations. The shallow station community was characterized by higher diversity than the deep-water one. While bacterioneuston communities were shown to be less diverse than the water column communities, their diversity was comparable to that of other biofilm associations. Microbial communities of Lake Baikal surface microlayer were shown to be similar to those of the water column in the composition of predominant phyla, while differing considerably at the genus level. Bacterioneuston of Lake Baikal was comparable to microbial communities of the surface microlayer of other freshwater basins, although it was characterized by high abundance of the Alphaproteobacteria and Verrucomicrobia. High abundance of photoheterotrophs compared to the water column communities of other freshwater basins was another distinctive feature of Lake Baikal bacterioneuston. Our results showed the Lake Baikal surface microlayer to be a specific microbial community with low species diversity and relatively high abundance of photoheterotrophic microorganisms. 相似文献

We have previously reported a high rate of tetranucleotide DNA repeat mutations, including mutations of both germline and somatic origin, in spontaneous human abortions. To analyze in more detail mutational microsatellite (MS) variability in meiosis and its possible association with disturbed embryonic development, we have conducted a comparative study of mutation rates of a panel of 15 autosomal tetranucleotide MSs in 55 families with healthy children and in 103 families that have had spontaneous abortions with normal karyotypes. In the families with miscarriage, the gametic MS mutation rate was higher than in the families with normal reproductive function (4.36 × 10−3 versus 2.32 × 10−3 per locus per gamete per generation), but this difference was statistically nonsignificant (P = 0.25). No association of MS mutations with familiar miscarriage was found. Mutations at the MS loci studied were recorded almost 3 times as often in spermatogenesis as in oogenesis, which is likely to result from a greater number of DNA replication cycles in male germline cell precursors than in female ones. Mutations increasing and reducing the MS sequence length appeared at virtually the same rate. Changes in MS DNA sequence length per one repeated element, i.e., single-step mutations (93% of cases) exceeded all other events of allele length change. The highest number of mutations (81.2%) was found in longer alleles. The metabolism of juvenile hormone by JH-esterase and JH-epoxide hydrolase, and octopamine by tyrosine decarboxylase were studied under normal and stress conditions in flies of two related lines of D. melanogaster. One was selected for high (HA line) and another for low (LA line) male sexual activity for more than 700 generations. It was demonstrated that prolonged selection for low male sexual activity results in considerable changes in both systems. Tyrosine decarboxylase activity in males and females of the LA line was sharply reduced as compared with those of the HA and control Canton-S lines; JH-esterase and JH-epoxide hydrolase activities were decreased in females, and not in males, of the LA line. It was demonstrated that the response of both metabolic systems to heat stress is impaired in individuals of the LA line: the system of juvenile hormone metabolism does not respond to stress, and that of octopamine metabolism is decelerated. The role of juvenile hormone metabolism in male reproductive function is discussed. 相似文献
