A familial paracentric inversion: A short review of the current status

Summary We present here a familial case of a paracentric inversion in man with a short review of the literature. A paracentric inversion of chromosome 10(q11q26) was found in the amniocytes drawn for advanced maternal age. The presence of the inversion was investigated in 35 family members in three generations. No recombinants were recognized. The significance of these data for appropriate genetic counselling and possible reproductive risks is discussed.Genetic Nurses, Department of Health and Welfare     

Particulate aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases are retained on heparin bound to sepharose

Fractions of reticulocyte lysates were retained on heparin immobilized on Sepharose 4B and further separated by gel filtration on Sepharose 6B. These fractions contain aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases for 12 amino acids tested. Most synthetases with the highest specific activity are present in the fraction of approximately 40S. Particulate synthetases present in the postmicrosomal pellet of rat liver and synthetases associated with polyribosomes are almost completely adsorbed on heparin-Sepharose but free enzymes in the cytosol are not retained. Since only particulate synthetases are retained on the affinity carrier, their adsorbtion may be due to the presence of proteinsynthesis factors, in particular peptide initiation and elongation factors, in the complexes of synthetases.     

An aminopeptidase from Agave americana thermodynamic studies

Purified Agave aminopeptidase was characterized with respect to the thermodynamic properties of the reaction catalysed by the enzyme. Kinetic studies were conducted at different temperatures ranging from 7.8 to 45°. The energy of activation, E_a, as well as the constants ΔH, ΔF and ΔS were calculated for both the formation of the enzyme-substrate complex, and the dissociation of the enzyme-product complex. Kinetic studies in buffers with varying dielectric constants enabled the determination of the electrostatic as well as the non-electrostatic components of ΔS. These results fit well into the overall kinetic picture of this enzyme-catalysed reaction as reported previously.     

麦草栽培姬菇配方的数学模型研究

借助二次通用旋转组合设计法研究了麦草栽培姬菇配方的数学模型,以探讨利用麦草替代棉籽壳的新配方.试验结果得出了配料的取值范围及最佳栽培配方,即麦草79％,麸皮15％,玉米粉4％,过磷酸钙1％,黄豆饼粉1％.在实际生产中很有应用价值.     

畜禽遗传资源冷冻保存中的取样方法探讨

本文基于遗传学和数理统计原理,提出了运用冷冻生殖细胞的方法长期保存畜禽遗传资源时,冷冻生殖细胞的4种取样方法,并推证了其误差公式和最低保存数量的估计公式。最后通过实例对公式的实际应用作了说明和讨论分析。     

我国汉族人群的乙二醛酶Ⅰ遗传多态性

用琼脂糖平板凝胶电泳技术分析了我国六个城市的汉族共1238人的红细胞乙二醛酶I的遗传多态性。每个汉族人群的受检人数和GLO1*1基因频率分别为:郑州200人(0.1023),哈尔滨195人(0.1103),呼和浩特210人(0.1259),贵阳204人(0.1373),兰州210人(0.1476),西安199人(0.1508)。中国不同地区汉族人群之间的GLOI基因频率分布存在显著性差异,但这种差异明显小于中国不同少数民族之间的差异。     

Selenium status of patients with Balkan endemic nephropathy

The selenium (Se) contents in common cereals in endemic and nonendemic areas in Serbia are very low. Plasma Se levels of both patients and healthy subjects, were also low, reflecting low Se intakes. Patients with Balkan endemic nephropathy (BEN) had significantly lower (p<0.05) plasma Se levels than healthy individuals, both from regions close to endemic areas, and from Belgrade. Mean plasma Se of BEN patients was slightly but insignificantly higher in samples taken immediately after dialysis than in those taken before, suggesting that very little of the Se present in plasma is dialyzable. Plasma SeGSH-Px activities before and after hemodialysis in both BEN and Nonendemic chronic renal failure (NCRF) patients were not significantly different, but BEN patients had lower enzyme activities than those with NCRF and healthy controls. In BEN patients, a significant correlation between plasma Se and SeGSH-Px activity was found. NCFR patients were with diagnoses: TBC of kidneys, chronic glomerulonephritis, chronic pyelonephritis, and polycystic kidneys.
