Aim

The aim of the present study was to examine whether listening to music during warming-up might influence short-term maximal performance (STMP), cognitive anxiety, self-confidence, and enjoyment during Ramadan, and whether these affects might predict STMP.

Methods

Nine male physical education students (age: 21 ± 1.1 years; height: 1.8 ± 0.04 m; body mass: 83 ± 5 kg) volunteered to participate in the present study. A within-subjects design consisted of four experimental sessions: Two sessions occurred one week before Ramadan and two others took place during Ramadan. They were scheduled at 5 p.m. and were conducted as follows: After a 10-minute warm-up either with or without listening to music, each participant performed a 5-m multiple shuttle run test, after which he was asked to answer items intended to assess his affective state during the experimental task.

Results

Our findings revealed that STMP was lower during Ramadan than before Ramadan in the no-music condition. Additionally, it was found that STMP was higher in the music condition than in the no-music condition during Ramadan, and that STMP measured before Ramadan did not differ from that measured during Ramadan in the music condition. Regarding affects, the findings revealed that enjoyment was lower during Ramadan than before Ramadan in the music condition, and that cognitive anxiety was lower in the music condition than in the no-music condition before Ramadan. Self-confidence was not influenced by the experimental conditions.

Conclusion

This study showed that listening to music during warming-up not only would be beneficial for STMP in Ramadan fasters, but also would counteract the negative effects of Ramadan observance on STMP.  相似文献

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disease caused by the clonal accumulation of dendritic Langerhans cells, which is often accompanied by osteolytic lesions. It has been reported that osteoclast-like cells play a major role in the pathogenic bone destruction seen in patients with LCH and these cells are postulated to originate from the fusion of DCs. However, due to the lack of reliable animal models the pathogenesis of LCH is still poorly understood. In this study, we have established a mouse model of histiocytosis- recapitulating human disease for osteolytic lesions seen in LCH patients. At 12 weeks after birth, severe bone lesions were observed in our multisystem histiocytosis (Mushi) model, when CD8α conventional dendritic cells (DCs) are transformed (MuTuDC) and accumulate. Most importantly, our study demonstrates that bone loss in LCH can be accounted for the transdifferentiation of MuTuDCs into functional osteoclasts both in vivo and in vitro. Moreover, we have shown that injected MuTuDCs reverse the osteopetrotic phenotype of oc/oc mice in vivo. In conclusion, our results support a crucial role of DCs in bone lesions in histiocytosis patients. Furthermore, our new model of LCH based on adoptive transfer of MuTuDC lines, leading to bone lesions within 1–2 weeks, will be an important tool for investigating the pathophysiology of this disease and ultimately for evaluating the potential of anti-resorptive drugs for the treatment of bone lesions.  相似文献

在二滩水库集水区,按照当地生态政策发展以坡度为指标构建了10种未来土地覆被格局情景,研究生态系统减轻水库泥沙淤积、减轻水库面源污染、产水发电服务及价值对未来覆被格局的响应程度,并兼顾相关产业收益的变化,权衡各种情景格局的服务效益,优选利益相关方福祉提升幅度最大的情景格局。结果表明:1)现有土地覆被格局对减轻水库泥沙淤积功效的发挥不合理,而以退耕还林政策指导区域土地覆被格局变化,对集水区减轻河道和水库泥沙淤积具有较好功效。10种情景下,保沙价值的高低关系同入库泥沙量正好相反,遵循"随地表林地和草地面积比例的增加,保沙价值增加"的规律。随产沙总量的增加,高产沙强度像元呈现从水库周边逐渐向中上游蔓延的趋势。2)退耕还林政策单纯以坡度作为指标,指导土地覆被的转化,对集水区减轻水环境磷素非点源污染功效较差。除了全为未利用地覆被的情景10,余下9类情景模拟的入库磷素量及过滤磷素经济价值的高低关系完全一致,呈农田草地林地的规律。随入库磷素总量的增加,高强度磷素输出像元从雅砻江流域源区和大河湾区,逐渐蔓延扩散至集水区整个水网。3)随着集水区地表林地覆盖面积比例的减少,集水区生态系统总发电净利润值增加,且高净利润像元呈现从冕宁和喜德县的东部逐渐向整个集水区东南部乃至整个下游蔓延的趋势。4)从减轻对环境的负效应以及提升利益相关方福祉的角度,以坡度6°上下划分林地和耕地的情景5和以坡度15°和6°为阈值划分林草农的情景3为除极端的情景外,综合指标提升最高的两种情景。  相似文献

The stability of the tri–μ–hydrido–bis[(η5–C5Me5)aluminum], Cp*2Al2H3, 1 is studied at B3LYP/6–311+G(d,p), CCSD(T)//B3LYP/6–311+G(d,p) and MP4//B3LYP/6–311+G(d,p) levels. The coordination between Al2H3 entity and both C5(CH3)5 groups is ensured by strong electrostatic and orbital interactions. The orbital analysis of the interacting fragments shows that Al2H3 acceptor, which keeps its tribridged structure, implies the vacant ( \texta1¢ ) \left( {{\text{a}}_1^\prime } \right) and five antibonding (a2¢¢ a_2^{\prime \prime } , e′ and e″) molecular orbitals to interact with two orbitals mixtures, b1 and e" of the donors (C5Me5). When we take into account the solvent effect, the computation shows that 1 seems to be stable in condensed phase with a tribridged bond between the Al atoms [Cp*Al(μ-H)3AlCp*], whereas in the gas phase, the monobridged Cp*AlH(μ-H)AlHCp* 4 is slightly favored (4 kcal mol−1). We propose that 1 could be prepared thanks to Cp*Al (2) and Cp*AlH2 (3) reaction in acidic medium. The experimental treatment of this type of metallocenes would contribute to the development of the organometallic chemistry of 13th group elements.   相似文献

The NAD(+)-dependent cytosolic glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH, EC 1.2.1.12), which is recognized as a key to central carbon metabolism in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis and as an important allozymic polymorphic biomarker, was purified from muscles of two marine species: the skeletal muscle of Sardina pilchardus Walbaum (Teleost, Clupeida) and the incompressible arm muscle of Octopus vulgaris (Mollusca, Cephalopoda). Comparative biochemical studies have revealed that they differ in their subunit molecular masses and in pI values. Partial cDNA sequences corresponding to an internal region of the GapC genes from Sardina and Octopus were obtained by polymerase chain reaction using degenerate primers designed from highly conserved protein motifs. Alignments of the deduced amino acid sequences were used to establish the 3D structures of the active site of two enzymes as well as the phylogenetic relationships of the sardine and octopus enzymes. These two enzymes are the first two GAPDHs characterized so far from teleost fish and cephalopod, respectively. Interestingly, phylogenetic analyses indicated that the sardina GAPDH is in a cluster with the archetypical enzymes from other vertebrates, while the octopus GAPDH comes together with other molluscan sequences in a distant basal assembly closer to bacterial and fungal orthologs, thus suggesting their different evolutionary scenarios.  相似文献

Background

As the global human population grows and its consumption patterns change, additional land will be needed for living space and agricultural production. A critical question facing global society is how to meet growing human demands for living space, food, fuel, and other materials while sustaining ecosystem services and biodiversity [1].

Methodology/Principal Findings

We spatially allocate two scenarios of 2000 to 2015 global areal change in urban land and cropland at the grid cell-level and measure the impact of this change on the provision of ecosystem services and biodiversity. The models and techniques used to spatially allocate land-use/land-cover (LULC) change and evaluate its impact on ecosystems are relatively simple and transparent [2]. The difference in the magnitude and pattern of cropland expansion across the two scenarios engenders different tradeoffs among crop production, provision of species habitat, and other important ecosystem services such as biomass carbon storage. For example, in one scenario, 5.2 grams of carbon stored in biomass is released for every additional calorie of crop produced across the globe; under the other scenario this tradeoff rate is 13.7. By comparing scenarios and their impacts we can begin to identify the global pattern of cropland and irrigation development that is significant enough to meet future food needs but has less of an impact on ecosystem service and habitat provision.

Conclusions/Significance

Urban area and croplands will expand in the future to meet human needs for living space, livelihoods, and food. In order to jointly provide desired levels of urban land, food production, and ecosystem service and species habitat provision the global society will have to become much more strategic in its allocation of intensively managed land uses. Here we illustrate a method for quickly and transparently evaluating the performance of potential global futures.  相似文献

Background

Anti-CD154 (MR1) monoclonal antibody (mAb) and rapamycin (RAPA) treatment both improve survival of rat-to-mouse islet xenograft. The present study investigated the effect of combined RAPA/MR1 treatment on rat-to-mouse islet xenograft survival and analyzed the role of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ T regulatory cells (Treg) in the induction and maintenance of the ensuing tolerance.

Methodology/Principal Findings

C57BL/6 mice were treated with MR1/RAPA and received additional monoclonal anti-IL2 mAb or anti CD25 mAb either early (0–28 d) or late (100–128 d) post-transplantation. Treg were characterised in the blood, spleen, draining lymph nodes and within the graft of tolerant and rejecting mice by flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry. Fourteen days of RAPA/MR1 combination therapy allowed indefinite islet graft survival in >80% of the mice. Additional administration of anti-IL-2 mAb or depleting anti-CD25 mAb at the time of transplantation resulted in rejection (100% and 89% respectively), whereas administration at 100 days post transplantation lead to lower rejection rates (25% and 40% respectively). Tolerant mice showed an increase of Treg within the graft and in draining lymph nodes early post transplantation, whereas 100 days post transplantation no significant increase of Treg was observed. Rejecting mice showed a transient increase of Treg in the xenograft and secondary lymphoid organs, which disappeared within 7 days after rejection.

Conclusions/Significances

These results suggest a critical role for Treg in the induction phase of tolerance early after islet xenotransplantation. These encouraging data support the need of developing further Treg therapy for overcoming the species barrier in xenotransplantation.  相似文献

Mitochondrial membrane-bound and phospholipid-dependent D-beta-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase (BDH) (EC 1.1.1.30), a ketone body converting enzyme in mitochondria, has been studied in two populations of mitochondria (heavy and light) of jerboa (Jaculus orientalis) liver. The results reveal significant differences between the BDH of the two mitochondrial populations in terms of protein expression, kinetic parameters and physico-chemical properties. These results suggest that the beta-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenases from heavy and light mitochondria are isoform variants. These differences in BDH distribution could be the consequence of cell changes in the lipid composition of the inner mitochondrial membrane of heavy and light mitochondria. These changes could modify both BDH insertion and BDH lipid-dependent catalytic properties.  相似文献
