This study reports the isolation and characterization of seven highly polymorphic microsatellite loci in Silene vulgaris (Caryophyllaceae). The loci were isolated from two libraries constructed from genomic DNA enriched for CA and GA repeats. These markers yielded nine to 40 alleles per locus (mean 22.1) in a survey of 45 individuals from a single population located in the western Swiss Alps. Average observed heterozygosity ranged from 16.2 to 77.4%. These microsatellite loci should be valuable tools for studying fine‐scale genetic structure.  相似文献

The gene coding for hepatocyte growth factor-like protein has been localized to mouse chromosome 9 at a locus (Hgfl) distal to the Trf locus. The likely gene order in this region is centromere-Trf-Gnai-2-Hgfl-Cck. The region surrounding the Hgfl locus shows homology of syntenty to band p21 on human chromosome 3.  相似文献

S-Adenosylmethionine decarboxylase was purified from the livers of calves treated with methylglyoxal bis (guanylhydrazone) to elevate the level of the enzyme. Purified bovine S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase was similar in specific activity and subunit molecular weight (32 000) to the enzymes previously isolated from rat and mouse. The bovine liver enzyme immunologically crossreacted with S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase from resting and mitogenically activated bovine lymphocytes. The rate of enzyme synthesis in activated lymphocytes was determined by labeling the cells with [3H]leucine and isolating the radioactive decarboxylase by affinity chromatography and sodium dodecyl sulfate gel electrophoresis. The rate of enzyme syntheis was increased 10-fold by 9 h after mitogen treatment, which accounts for the initial increase in cellular enzymatic. There was no further incraese in the rate of S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase synthesis that correlated with a second elevation of activity occuring at approx. 24 h after mitogenic activation. It was concluded that the second increase in enzyme activity was due to lengthening the intracellular half-life of the enzyme by 2-fold.  相似文献

Reproduction,including lactation,is the most costly activity in terms of energy expenditure in female mammals.Consequently,the energy requirements of the reproducing female may not be met at this time,especially if other energy demanding activities are occurring concomitantly.Such activities could be the activation and maintenance of an immune system in response to parasitic infestation.These protective processes are energetically demanding and require trade-off decisions among competing energy demands.In the case of a reproducing mammal,the trade-offs occur mainly between defence against parasites and reproductive costs of the host.In this paper,I discuss the effects of macroparasites on the energy allocation of reproducing small mammals.  相似文献
