In this paper, we explored the super-ego ofpatients with coronary artery disease. Research results have confirmed the initial hypothesis that a significant number of patients with coronary artery disease has rigorous super-ego. Among patients with coronary artery disease (N=50), and control group (N=50), we have found significant differences in the quality of super-ego and ego attitude towards the demands of the super-ego. The results of this research contribute to understanding the impact of psychological factors in coronary artery disease.  相似文献

Over the last 40 years mankind has been facing new types of radiochemical environmental settings with every decade. During the last decade, biomonitoring was additionally focused on assessing associations between environmental exposure(s) and both early and late biological effects in children. Despite efforts to control and avoid child exposure to genotoxic agents the incidence of childhood cancers is increasing. Some cancers in adulthood may be the consequence of a multi-step process which starts with intrauterine and childhood exposure. This highlights the importance of a comprehensive interpretation of multiple health effects, especially considering recent studies suggesting that most health disorders are related to DNA changes. When exposed to genotoxic agents, a developing organism (fetus or child) is constantly being forced to reorganize into new equilibriums in order to adjust to a xenobiotic environment. In addition, the influence of sex hormones on radiochemical sensitivity is still unknown. For this reason special attention should be paid to puberty. The results of recent studies on animal models and follow up studies on children after nuclear accidents show long-lasting cytogenetic damage even after low dose exposures and their transgenerational persistance. To evaluate age-related difference and transplacental genotoxic potency fluconazole (FC) was investigated by in vivo micronucleus (MN) assay in adult mice, young mice and in transplacentally exposed newborn pups. Compared to the baseline values, FC caused no detectable genome damage in adult animals, but there was a significant increase in MN frequency in young animals and in newborn pups. Our study thus exemplifies an age-related chemosensitivity, and argues that cancer-promoting disturbances of complex prenatal developmental mechanisms and maturation during childhood require a new approach using systems biology.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of different etching times on demineralized dentin surface morphology using scanning electron microscopy and qualitative line microanalysis of chemical structure. Two sample groups, consisting of 30 first premolar teeth in each group, were established. Teeth were cut at the half-distance between the enamel-dentin junction and the pulp. The first group of specimens was etched for 10 seconds and the second group for 30 seconds. 37% ortophosphoric acid was used. SEM (scanning electron microscopy) was utilized to observe the following parameters: number and diameter of dentinal tubules, dentinal and intertubular dentinal surface percentage, appearance of the dentin surface porous zone containing smear layer and demineralized residual collagen particles with dentin demineralization products in acid globules, and dissolved peritubular dentin cuff. After calculating measurements of central tendency (X,C, Mo, SD), Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Student t-test were performed to confirm the quantitative results, and the chi2-test was run to produce qualitative data. In contrast to the 10-second etching time, the increased etching time of 30 seconds resulted in the following findings: (1) an increased number of dentinal tubules (p < 0.05), (2) an increase in dentinal tubule diameter (p < 0.05), (3) an increase in dentinal tubule surface percentage (p < 0.001), (4) a decrease in intertubular dentinal surface percentage (p < 0.001), (5) appearance of dentin surface porous zone containing smear layer and demineralized residual collagen particles with dentin demineralization products in acid globules (p < 0.001), and (6) completely dissolved peritubular dentin cuff (p <0.001). Therefore, different etching times using the same phosphoric acid concentration result in different morphological changes in demineralized dentin surface. Moreover, based on a comparison with current studies, prolonged etching time causes morphological changes to dentin surface. Such changes, have, in turn, negative effects on the dentin hybridization process.  相似文献

Background

There are still ambiguities existing in regard to left ventricular non-compaction (LVNC) diagnostic imaging. The aim of our study was to analyze diagnostic potential of late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and ventricle geometry in patients with LVNC and controls.

Methods

Data on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) studies for LVNC were reassessed from the hospital’s database (3.75 years; n=1975 exams). Matching sample of controls included cases with no structural heart disease, hypertrophic or dilative cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia or subacute myocarditis. Eccentricity of the left ventricle was measured at end diastole in the region with pronounced NC and maximal to minimal ratio (MaxMinEDDR) was calculated.

Results

Study included 255 patients referred for CMR, 100 (39.2%) with LVNC (prevalence in the studied period 5.01%) and 155 (60.8%) controls. Existing LGE had sensitivity of 52.5% (95%-CI:42.3–62.5), specificity of 80.4% (95%-CI:73.2–86.5) for LVNC, area under curve (AUC) 0.664 (95%-CI:0.603–0.722);p<0.001. MaxMinEDDR>1.10 had sensitivity of 95.0% (95%-CI:88.7–98.4), specificity of 82.6% (95%-CI: 75.7–88.2) for LVNC, AUC 0.917 (95%-CI:0.876–0.948); p<0.001. LGE correlated with Max-Min-EDD-R (Rho=0.130; p=0.038) and there was significant difference in ROC analysis ΔAUC0.244 (95%-CI:0.175–0.314); p<0.001. LGE also correlated negatively with stroke volume and systolic function (both p<0.05, respectively).

Conclusions

LGE was found to be frequently expressed in patients with LVNC, but without sufficient power to be used as a discriminative diagnostic parameter. Both LGE and eccentricity of the left ventricle were found to be relatively solid diagnostic landmarks of complex infrastructural and functional changes within the failing heart.

The s-triazine herbicide terbuthylazine (TERB) has been used as the main substitute of atrazine in many EU countries for more than 10 years. However, the ecological consequences of this substitution are still not fully understood. Since the fate of triazine herbicides is primarily dependent on microbial degradation, in this paper, we investigated the ability of a mixed bacterial culture, M3-T, originating from s-triazine-contaminated soil, to degrade TERB in liquid culture and soil microcosms. The M3-T culture grown in mineral medium with TERB as the N source and citrate as the C source degraded 50 mg L?1 of TERB within 3 days of incubation. The culture was capable of degrading TERB as the sole C and N source, though at slower degradation kinetics. A thorough LC-MS analysis of the biodegradation media showed the formation of hydroxyterbuthylazine (TERB-OH) and N-t-butylammelide (TBA) as major metabolites, and desethylterbuthylazine (DET), hydroxydesethylterbuthylazine (DET-OH) and cyanuric acid (CA) as minor metabolites in the TERB degradation pathway. TBA was identified as a bottleneck in the catabolic pathway leading to its transient accumulation in culture media. The supplementation of glucose as the exogenous C source had no effect on TBA degradation, whereas citrate inhibited its disappearance. The addition of M3-T to sterile soil artificially contaminated with TERB at 3 mg kg?1 of soil resulted in an accelerated TERB degradation with t 1/2 value being about 40 times shorter than that achieved by the native microbial community. Catabolic versatility of M3-T culture makes it a promising seed culture for accelerating biotransformation processes in s-triazine-contaminated environment.  相似文献

The monitoring of the recovery of femoral muscles, after the knee-joint injury, is possible by the method of ultrasound measurement of the muscular volume. In a clearly defined longitudinal study, our object was to standardize the method of ultrasound measurement of muscular volume and to evaluate its adequacy in practical application in quadriceps muscle rehabilitation. The ultrasound measurements of m. rectus femoris and m. vastus intermedius were conducted in three intervals: in the first 24 hours after the injury; after 1 week, when immobilization was removed; and after 6 weeks, when rehabilitation was finished. The study comprised 30 patients with knee-joint injury, and 30 asymptomatic subjects, who formed the control group. The results showed significant decrease of muscular volume (mm3) after joint immobilization on injured leg and a significant increase of volume after rehabilitation. The same differences were observed on healthy legs, but without significance. Within the same intervals, there were no changes in the muscular mass in the control group. M. rectus femoris was completely recovered in greater number of patients (54.1%), comparing to m. vastus intermedius (25.4%). We conclude that the ultrasound is an appropriate method for monitoring the process of muscular atrophy during immobilization, as well as the course of muscular restitution during the physical therapy.  相似文献

Background

Placental characters vary among Xenarthra, one of four supraordinal clades of Eutheria. Armadillos are known for villous, haemochorial placentas similar to humans. Only the nine-banded armadillo has been well studied so far.

Methods

Placentas of three species of armadillos were investigated by means of histology, immunohistochemistry including proliferation marker, and transmission and scanning electron microscopy.

Results

The gross anatomy differed: Euphractus sexcinctus and Chaetophractus villosus had extended, zonary placentas, whereas Chaetophractus vellerosus had a disk. All taxa had complex villous areas within the maternal blood sinuses of the endometrium. Immunohistochemistry indicated the validity of former interpretations that the endothelium of the sinuses was largely intact. Tips of the villi and the columns entering the maternal tissue possessed trophoblast cell clusters with proliferation activity. Elsewhere, the feto-maternal barrier was syncytial haemochorial with fetal vessels near the surface.

Conclusions

Differences among armadillos occurred in regard to the extension of the placenta, whereas the fine structure was similar. Parallels to the human suggest that armadillos are likely to be useful animal models for human placentation.  相似文献

Of the parameters that determine glucose disposal and progression to diabetes in humans: first-phase insulin secretion, glucose effectiveness (Sg), insulin sensitivity (Si), and the disposition index (DI), only Si can be reliably measured in conscious mice. To determine the importance of the other parameters in murine glucose homeostasis in lean and obese states, we developed the frequently sampled intravenous glucose tolerance test (FSIVGTT) for use in unhandled mice. We validated the conscious FSIVGTT against the euglycemic clamp for measuring Si in lean and obese mice. Insulin-resistant mice had increased first-phase insulin secretion, decreased Sg, and a reduced DI, qualitatively similar to humans. Intriguingly, although insulin secretion explained most of the variation in glucose disposal in lean mice, Sg and the DI more strongly predicted glucose disposal in obese mice. DI curves identified individual diet-induced obese (DIO) mice as having compensated or decompensated insulin secretion. Conscious FSIVGTT opens the door to apply mouse genetics to the determinants of in vivo insulin secretion, Sg, and DI, and further validates the mouse as a model of metabolic disease.  相似文献
