Excitability of the motor cortex (projection of the foreleg), judged by the threshold of flexion reaction to its stimulation during elaboration of conditioned transswitching (CT), was studied in dogs. CT was elaborated for instrumental reflexes of escape (1-st CT variant) and avoidance (2-nd CT variant). In the 1-st variant the dog escaped from the hydrochloric acid solution, if during its administration it produced an active flexion of the foreleg in situation A and an active extension of the same leg in situation B, with a permanent action of a switch (a fan). In the 2-nd CT variant, the dog avoided the acid, if in situation A, in response to a tone of 250 Hz, it actively lifted its foreleg, and if in situation B, it actively resisted a passive lift in response to the same stimulus. In escape CT as well as in avoidance CT, there was a statistically significant difference between the thresholds of flexion reaction. The threshold was lower in situation of instrumental flexion reflex formation in comparison to the situation of extension reflex formation.  相似文献

The authors studied changes in the synthesis of nucleic acids (RNA, DNA) and protein by a mesophilic strain ofEscherichia coli B and a psychrophilic strain ofPseudomonas fluorescens at a low incubation temperature giving tenfold prolongation of the generation time. It was found that lowering the incubation temperature was followed by an increase in the intracellular nucleic acid content during the lag phase and the phase of accelerated growth, in which maximum nucleic acid (NA) values were reached. As a result, the total NA level in the cell also remained relatively high during further proliferation, when the increase in NA (particularly RNA) slows down at low incubation temperatures. Proteosynthesis, however, fell in the mesophilic culture. The smaller effect of a lowered temperature on DNA biosynthesis was manifested specifically in the lag phase ofEscherichia coli, in which disproportion developed between the amount of DNA (which was synthesized at a relatively higher rate) and RNA; this was afterwards equalized by a temporary break in DNA production. Pronounced differences in the given types of biosynthesis were found only in the mesophilic culture, while at suboptimal temperatures the metabolism of the psychrophilic strain slowed down but no marked changes occurred.  相似文献

The L1 protuberance of the 50S ribosomal subunit is implicated in the release/disposal of deacylated tRNA from the E site. The apparent mobility of this ribosomal region has thus far prevented an accurate determination of its three-dimensional structure within either the 50S subunit or the 70S ribosome. Here we report the crystal structure at 2.65 A resolution of ribosomal protein L1 from Sulfolobus acidocaldarius in complex with a specific 55-nucleotide fragment of 23S rRNA from Thermus thermophilus. This structure fills a major gap in current models of the 50S ribosomal subunit. The conformations of L1 and of the rRNA fragment differ dramatically from those within the crystallographic model of the T. thermophilus 70S ribosome. Incorporation of the L1-rRNA complex into the structural models of the T. thermophilus 70S ribosome and the Deinococcus radiodurans 50S subunit gives a reliable representation of most of the L1 protuberance within the ribosome.  相似文献

INTRODUCTION: The optimal surgical treatment of children with differentiated thyroid cancer remains an important point of discussion. Especially the need for completion operation is questioned in young patients. Our objective was to examine the rate of residual neoplastic disease after non radical initial operation. MATERIAL AND METHODS: From the 235 children diagnosed with differentiated thyroid cancer, 131 (56%) needed completion operation due to incomplete primary surgery. Completion operation involved thyroid bed, lymph nodes or both respectively in 91 (39%), 13 (6%) and 27 (11%) cases. Risk factors responsible for residual disease were evaluated by means of logistic regression analysis. RESULTS: Residual disease was detected in 46 (35%) of reoperated children (25% in thyroid bed and 85% in lymph node of lateral neck compartment). Sex and age did not influence the risk of residual disease in thyroid bed or lymph nodes. Papillary type of cancer and multifocality increased risk of residual disease in thyroid bed respectively by the factor of 15 (95% CI: 2-125) and 2.3 (95% CI: 1.2-4.4). Infiltration of thyroid capsule did not correlate with the risk of residual disease. Lymph node metastases in primary operation increased risk of residual disease by the factor of 16 (95% CI: 1.2-245). Histopathology, multifocality of primary tumour or infiltration of lymph node capsule did not influence the risk of residual disease in lymph nodes of lateral neck compartment. CONCLUSIONS: In children with differentiated thyroid cancer residual disease is diagnosed in about 1/3 of non radically operated cases. This high incidence justifies completion operations. The risk of residual disease is significantly increased in papillary thyroid cancer, multifocal tumours and cases with lymph node metastases.  相似文献

Monocelis lineata consists of a complex of sibling species, widespread in the Mediterranean and Atlantic Ocean. Previous genetic analysis placed in evidence at least four sibling species. Nevertheless, this research was not conclusive enough to fully resolve the complex or to infer the phylogeny/phylogeography of the group. We designed specific primers aiming at obtaining partial sequences of the mtDNA gene Cytochrome c Oxidase subunit I (COI) of M. lineata, and have identified 25 different haplotypes in 32 analyzed individuals. The dendrogram generated by Neighbor-Joining analysis confirmed the differentiation between Atlantic and Mediterranean siblings, as well as the occurrence of at least two Mediterranean sibling species. Thus validated, the method here presented appears as a valuable tool in population genetics and biodiversity surveys on the Monocelis lineata complex.  相似文献
