We analyse the helical motion of organisms, concentrating on the means by which organisms change the direction in space of the axis of the helical trajectory, which is the net direction of motion. We demonstrate that the direction of the axis is determined largely by the direction of the organism's rotational velocity. Changes in direction of the rotational velocity, with respect to the organism's body, change the direction in space of the axis of the helical trajectory. Conversely, changes in direction of the translational velocity, with respect to the body of the organism, have little effect on the direction in space of the axis of the trajectory. Because the axis of helical motion is the net direction of motion, it is likely that organisms that move in helices change direction by pointing their rotational velocity, not their translational velocity, in a new direction.  相似文献

Hexavalent chromium, Cr(VI), is toxic to living systems. Widespread contamination of water and soil by Cr(VI) present a serious public health problem. Chromium-resistant bacteria can reduce and detoxify Cr(VI). Twelve bacteria resistant to high concentrations of Cr(VI) were isolated from soil enrichment cultures. Environmental parameters and kinetic parameters of Cr(VI) bioreduction by one monoculture isolate, identified by 16S rRNA gene sequence as Bacillus sp. PB2, were studied. The optimal temperature for growth and Cr(VI) reduction was 35 degrees C. The isolate grew luxuriantly and substantially reduced Cr(VI) at initial pH 7.5 to 9. Maximal Cr(VI) bioreduction occurred at initial pH 8.0. Substantial Cr(VI) bioreduction was observed in salt media, but removal efficiency was inversely related to salt concentration (1-9%). Michaelis-Menten hyperbolic equation and the Lineweaver-Burk double reciprocal plot were comparatively employed to determine the k (m) and V (max) of Cr(VI) bioreduction. A k (m) of 82.5 microg mL(-1) and V (max) of 7.78 microg mL(-1) h(-1) were calculated by nonlinear regression analysis of the hyperbola curve. Linear regression analysis of the double reciprocal plot revealed k (m) and V (max) of 80.9 microg mL(-1) and 10.6 microg mL(-1) h(-1), respectively. Time course studies displayed about 90% reduction of Cr(VI) at an initial concentration of 8,000 microg L(-1) in 8 h, with an estimated t (1/2) of 4 h. Data from time course analysis of the rate of Cr(VI) bioreduction fitted zero-order model, and the kinetic constant k was calculated to be 840 microg L(-1) h(-1). The monoculture isolate, Bacillus sp. PB2, strongly reduces Cr(VI) and could be used for bioremediation of Cr(VI)-contaminated aquatic and terrestrial environments.  相似文献

目的探讨正常SD雌性大鼠性成熟前不同日龄段的脏器与促黄体生成素(LH)、促卵泡素(FSH)、雌二醇(E2)等性激素的变化及其关系。方法从生产群中取出60窝密度状态一致的SD大鼠,在不同日龄随机选取雌性大鼠,检测15、25、32、40日龄时大鼠体重、主要脏器指数,子宫、卵巢组织变化和15、25、32、40、60日龄大鼠血清LH、FSH、E2水平。结果记录了SD雌性大鼠性成熟前各脏器指数和卵巢、子宫组织变化,结果显示大鼠卵巢、子宫的增长速度大于体重的增长,而其他脏器增速大都小于体重的增长。本研究还记录了血清LH、FSH、E2水平在不同日龄段的变化规律,表明血清LH、E2浓度在32日龄时出现较为明显升高。结论不同日龄大鼠脏器指数的动态变化提示大鼠性器官在性发育早期得到机体的优先发育。血清LH、E2水平在32日龄时有了明显升高,提示性腺轴功能已经激活。60日龄大鼠血清性激素水平的波动类似于动情周期的规律性变化,推测大鼠在60日龄前即已进入性成熟,这些结果将为大鼠性发育的相关研究提供重要的参考数据。  相似文献

This study examines differences in intracellular responses to cloprostenol, a prostaglandin (PG)F(2alpha) analog, in porcine corpora lutea (CL) before (Day 9 of estrous cycle) and after (Day 17 of pseudopregnancy) acquisition of luteolytic capacity. Pigs on Day 9 or Day 17 were treated with saline or 500 microgram cloprostenol, and CL were collected 10 h (experiment I) or 0.5 h (experiment III) after treatment. Some CL were cut into small pieces and cultured to measure progesterone and PGF(2alpha) secretion. In experiment I, progesterone remained high and PGF(2alpha) low in luteal incubations from either Day 9 or Day 17 saline-treated pigs. Cloprostenol increased PGF(2alpha) production 465% and decreased progesterone production 87% only from Day 17 luteal tissue. Cloprostenol induced prostaglandin G/H synthase (PGHS)-2 mRNA (0.5 h) and protein (10 h) in both groups. In cell culture, cloprostenol or phorbol 12, 13-didecanoate (PDD) (protein kinase C activator), induced PGHS-2 mRNA in luteal cells from both groups. However, acute cloprostenol treatment (10 min) decreased progesterone production and increased PGF(2alpha) production only from Day 17 luteal cells. Thus, PGF(2alpha) production is induced by cloprostenol in porcine CL with luteolytic capacity (Day 17) but not in CL without luteolytic capacity (Day 9). However, this change in PGF(2alpha) production is not explained by a difference in induction of PGHS-2 mRNA or protein.  相似文献

目的对实验动物皮肤病原真菌2种培养方法进行了比较。方法将采集到的3只皮肤真菌感染病兔样品经由沙氏平皿法和沙氏试管斜面培养法分别进行培养。结果在3只真菌感染病兔中应用试管斜面法我们只检测到1例皮肤病原真菌阳性,而采用沙氏平皿法3例阳性全部检出。结论结合临床检测经验,我们认为本研究的沙氏平皿法优于沙氏试管斜面法,在实验动物皮肤病原真菌常规检测中具有推广应用价值。  相似文献

目的研究长爪沙鼠发情周期,揭示发情规律,优化判定方法。方法连续18 d采集50只长爪沙鼠阴道上皮脱落细胞涂片,采用角化细胞计数法研究长爪沙鼠发情周期规律。比较瑞氏染色、HE染色和直接镜检判定发情周期4个时相的优缺点。结果长爪沙鼠的发情周期有稳定型、不稳定型、假孕三种类型。其中稳定型占68.6%,发情周期为(106.3±35.0)h,可分为4个时相。4个时相角化细胞的比例分别为发情前期(13.5±7.8)%、发情期(86.7±9.9)%、发情后期(27.9±12.8)%和发情间期(3.3±2.8)%。结论角化细胞计数能准确地判定长爪沙鼠的发情周期及各个时相。直接镜检法能快速反映阴道脱落细胞的形态。  相似文献
