The present study aims at biosynthesizing, characterizing and evaluating the biogenic silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) as antimicrobial and antibiofilm against Kocuria rosea and Kocuria rhizophila. Cellfree supernatant of Proteus mirabilis culture was used for biosynthesizing AgNPs, which confirmed by visualizing color change and X-ray diffraction. Transmission electron microscopy showed the formation of AgNPs in the range of 5–40 nm. ART-FTIR spectra provided evidence for presence of proteins as possible biomolecules responsible for stability of AgNPs and act as capping agent. AgNPs had ability to inhibit growth of K. rosea and K. rhizophila. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC90) of AgNPs against both strains was 25 μg/mL. Antiadhesive effect of AgNPs was verified at sub-MIC90 dose (12.5 μg/mL). The AgNPs concentrations up to 100 μg/mL were not effective for complete removing the already established biofilms with maximum removing percentage of 30.5–34.9%. In conclusion, the present study demonstrated an unprecedented green process for biosynthesizing stable spherical-shaped AgNPs. Early control is suggested by preventing biofilm formation using low AgNPs concentration (12.5 μg/mL) as a potential ingredient for formulating effective chemical sanitizers.  相似文献

Three-dimensional osseous surface re-formation imaging from CT scans was used to examine the facial skeletons of 14 living patients with mandibulofacial dysostosis. Partial to complete aplasia of the zygomatic process of the temporal bone, mild hypoplasia to aplasia of the frontal process of the zygoma, antimongoloid slant of the transverse orbital axis, and hypoplasia of the medial pterygoid plates and muscles are common to all patients examined. Deformities of the zygoma, zygomatic process of the frontal bone, mandible, and lateral pterygoid plates and muscles vary from minimal to severe, including aplasia. The body of the zygoma is the least affected part of the bone. Right-left asymmetry characterizes these deformities in all patients. The most consistent skeletal aplasia (cleft) in mandibulofacial dysostosis involves the zygomatic process of the temporal bone rather than the zygoma itself.  相似文献

Two specific endophagous parasitoids Gyranusoidea tebygi and Anagyrus mangicola, of Indian origin, were mass‐reared at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture in Cotonou and released against the mango mealybug Rastrococcus invadens, in collaboration with national biological control programmes. G. tebygi was released in the following countries: Benin, Gabon, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Zaire. In Togo, it had been released earlier and studied during another project. This parasitoid is now established in all areas infested by the mango mealybug. In addition, it established itself without previous release in Congo and Côte d'Ivoire. A. mangicola has been released in Benin, Gabon and Sierra Leone since 1991, and by mid‐1993 was recovered from a few sites. It seems locally established in southern Benin.  相似文献

CD26 or dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DP IV) is expressed on various cell types, including T cells. Although T cells can receive activating signals via CD26, the physiological role of CD26/DP IV is largely unknown. We used the reversible DP IV inhibitor Lys[Z(NO(2))]-pyrrolidide (I40) to dissect the role of DP IV in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) and to explore the therapeutic potential of DP IV inhibition for autoimmunity. I40 administration in vivo decreased and delayed clinical and neuropathological signs of adoptive transfer EAE. I40 blocked DP IV activity in vivo and increased the secretion of the immunosuppressive cytokine TGF-beta1 in spinal cord tissue and plasma during acute EAE. In vitro, while suppressing autoreactive T cell proliferation and TNF-alpha production, I40 consistently up-regulated TGF-beta1 secretion. A neutralizing anti-TGF-beta1 Ab blocked the inhibitory effect of I40 on T cell proliferation to myelin Ag. DP IV inhibition in vivo was not generally immunosuppressive, neither eliminating encephalitogenic T cells nor inhibiting T cell priming. These data suggest that DP IV inhibition represents a novel and specific therapeutic approach protecting from autoimmune disease by a mechanism that includes an active TGF-beta1-mediated antiinflammatory effect at the site of pathology.  相似文献

Morinda citrifolia is a plant with broad nutraceutical and therapeutic effects and used in the traditional treatment of several ailments. The objective of this work is to investigate the phytochemistry of the fruit juice of M. citrifolia on one hand and on other hand to evaluate its antiradical and antibacterial activity. The phytochemical investigation was carried out by tube staining tests of the extract of two types of fruit juice of M. citrifolia. The antioxidant activity of these juices was evaluated by reducing the DPPH radical method. Concerning the antibacterial activity, it was tested on the in vitro growth of 10 reference bacterial strains using the well diffusion method. Qualitative phytochemistry of M. citrifolia fruit juices revealed the presence of large groups of secondary metabolites including polyphenols, reducing compounds, mucilage and terpernoids. The antioxidant activity of M. citrifolia fruit juices is dose-dependent and higher than that of ascorbic acid. Antimicrobial activity on other hand revealed that fruit juices inhibit growth inhibitory activity of Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus mirabilis, S. epidermidis, Proteus vulgaris, Streptococcus oralis, Enterococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli. This observed difference is significant for each juices on the strains (p < 0.001). These results support the use of M. citrifolia in traditional medicine and are the starting points for the development of a new drug to combat both dietary conditions and chronic conditions associated with oxidative stress.  相似文献

This study was conducted to investigate effects of increasing doses: 0 (control), 6 (low), 12 (medium) and 24 (high) mg/g DM of ZADO® enzyme preparation mixture (ENZ) on in vitro gas production (GP) and some ruminal fermentation parameters of the fibrous feeds Saccharum officinarum (leaves), Andropogon gayanus (leaves), Pennisetum purpureum (leaves) and Sorghum vulgare (straw). Rumen liquor was obtained from two Brown Swiss cows fitted with permanent rumen cannulae fed a total mixed ration of a 500:500 commercial concentrate and alfalfa hay ad libitum. The GP was recorded at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 h of incubation. After 96 h, the incubation was stopped and the pH of the mixture was determined and filtrate used to determine dry matter degradability (DMD), partitioning factor (PF96), gas yield (GY24), in vitro organic matter digestibility (OMD), metabolizable energy (ME), short chain fatty acids (SCFA), and microbial crude protien production (MCP). In general, the crude protein (CP) content of the fibrous feeds was low and ranged from 23 g/kg DM (S. officinarum) to 44 (A. gayanus). The fibre contents (i.e., NDFom and ADFom) were highest (P<0.05) in S. officinarum. Increasing ENZ dose linearly increased (P<0.05) GP of all fibrous feeds and had a quadratically increased (P<0.05) asymptotic gas production in P. purpureum and S. vulgare and rate of gas production in S. officinarum and S. vulgare. Addition of ENZ also quadratically increased (P<0.05) GP at all incubation times in S. officinarum and S. vulgare, and A. gayanus, but only at 72 h in A. gayanus. The parameters of ruminal fermentation of OMD, ME, GY24 and SCFA linearly increased (P<0.05) and MCP linearly decreased (P<0.05) with the ENZ addition. Addition of enzyme affected ruminal fermentation of our feeds differently, mainly dependent on their fibre content, although dosage of enzyme was also important as impacts generally increased at higher dosages of ENZ.  相似文献

The newer generation of CT scanners allows reconstruction of images in coronal, sagittal, and oblique planes from a single set of axial scans. These computer-generated images are described as reformatted. We have found an oblique image reformatted along the plane connecting the apex of the orbit and the center of the globe to be especially useful in assessing orbital disorders. We have named this image the longitudinal orbital projection. This projection allows direct visualization of the inferior rectus muscle and orbital floor in acute and old orbital trauma. With the image produced life size, direct measurements of enophthalmos and proptosis can be made preoperatively and postoperatively, thereby facilitating planning and follow-up. The projection is also useful in combination with other planes of reformation for the localization of tumors. The longitudinal orbital projection is now a routine part of the CT examination of the orbit in our institution. Whereas it already has become an invaluable aid in the diagnosis and follow-up of congenital and acquired orbital lesions, the longitudinal orbital projection promises to clarify the effects of trauma on the inferior rectus muscle and globe position.  相似文献
