An intuitive way to process the big data efficiently is to reduce the volume of data transferred over the storage interface to a host system. This is the reason that the notion of intelligent SSD (iSSD) was proposed to give processing power to SSD. There is rich literature on iSSD, however, its real implementation has not been provided to the public yet. Most prior work aims to quantify the benefits of iSSD with analytical modeling. In this paper, we first develop on iSSD simulator and present the potential of iSSD in data mining through the iSSD simulator. Our iSSD simulator performs on top of the gem 5 simulator and fully simulates all the processes of data mining algorithms running in iSSD with cycle-level accuracy. Then, we further addresse how to exploit all the computing resources for efficient processing of data mining algorithms. These days, CPU, GPU, and SSD are recently equipped together in most computing environment. If SSD is replaced with iSSD later on, we have a new computing environment where the three computing resources collaborate one another to process big data quite effectively. For this, scheduling is required to decide which computing resource is going to run for which function at which time. In our heterogeneous scheduling, types of computing resources, memory sizes in computing resources, and inter-processor communication times including IO time in SSD are considered. Our scheduling results show that processing in the collaborative environment outperforms that in the traditional one by up to about 10 times.  相似文献

The 15,389-bp long complete mitogenome of the endangered red-spotted apollo butterfly, Parnassius bremeri (Lepidoptera: Papilionidae) was determined in this study. The start codon for the COI gene in insects has been extensively discussed, and has long remained a matter of some controversy. Herein, we propose that the CGA (arginine) sequence functions as the start codon for the COI gene in lepidopteran insects, on the basis of complete mitogenome sequences of lepidopteran insects, including P. bremeri, as well as additional sequences of the COI start region from a diverse taxonomic range of lepidopteran species (a total of 53 species from 15 families). In our extensive search for a tRNA-like structure in the A+T-rich region, one tRNATrp-like sequence and one tRNALeu (UUR)-like sequence were detected in the P. bremeri A+T-rich region, and one or more tRNA-like structures were detected in the A+T-rich region of the majority of other sequenced lepidopteran insects, thereby indicating that such features occur frequently in the lepidopteran mitogenomes. Phylogenetic analysis using the concatenated 13 amino acid sequences and nucleotide sequences of PCGs of the four macrolepidopteran superfamilies together with the Tortricoidea and Pyraloidea resulted in the successful recovery of a monophyly of Papilionoidea and a monophyly of Bombycoidea. However, the Geometroidea were unexpectedly identified as a sister group of the Bombycoidea, rather than the Papilionoidea.  相似文献

Radiation is a core part of therapy for malignant glioma and is often provided following debulking surgery. However, resistance to radiation occurs in most patients, and the underlying molecular mechanisms of radio-resistance are not fully understood. Here, we demonstrated that microRNA 21 (miR-21), a well-known onco-microRNA in malignant glioma, is one of the major players in radio-resistance. Radio-resistance in different malignant glioma cell lines measured by cytotoxic cell survival assay was closely associated with miR-21 expression level. Blocking miR-21 with anti-miR-21 resulted in radio-sensitization of U373 and U87 cells, whereas overexpression of miR-21 lead to a decrease in radio-sensitivity of LN18 and LN428 cells. Anti-miR-21 sustained γ-H2AX DNA foci formation, which is an indicator of double-strand DNA damage, up to 24 hours and suppressed phospho-Akt (ser473) expression after exposure to γ-irradiation. In a cell cycle analysis, a significant increase in the G2/M phase transition by anti-miR-21 was observed at 48 hours after irradiation. Interestingly, our results showed that anti-miR-21 increased factors associated with autophagosome formation and autophagy activity, which was measured by acid vesicular organelles, LC3 protein expression, and the percentage of GFP-LC3 positive cells. Furthermore, augmented autophagy by anti-miR-21 resulted in an increase in the apoptotic population after irradiation. Our results show that miR-21 is a pivotal molecule for circumventing radiation-induced cell death in malignant glioma cells through the regulation of autophagy and provide a novel phenomenon for the acquisition of radio-resistance.  相似文献

Obesity consists in fat accumulation leading to increase in adipose cells number and size. Adipocyte membrane biophysical properties are critical to maintain cellular viability in metabolically healthy obesity. This study investigated the effect of the genetic background and dietary protein restriction on fat tissue lipid composition, adipocyte membrane fluidity and water permeability using the pig as experimental model. Twenty-four male pigs from distinct genotypes, lean and obese, were fed on normal and reduced protein diets within a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement (two genotypes and two diets). Backfat thickness was twofold higher in obese than in lean pigs but unrelated to dietary protein level. In contrast, total fatty acids in the subcutaneous adipose tissue were dependent on both breed and diet, with increased lipid content promoted by the fatty genotype and by the restriction of dietary protein. Adipose membranes isolated from obese pig's subcutaneous fat tissue showed higher permeability to water, in line with an increased fluidity. Moreover, the reduced content of dietary protein influenced positively the fluidity of adipose membranes. Neither genotype nor diet affected total cholesterol concentration in the adipose membranes. Membrane-saturated fatty acids' content was influenced by genotype, while membrane-polyunsaturated fatty acids, particularly from the n-6 family, was influenced by diet. The ratio of oleic (18:1c9)/linoleic (18:2n-6) acids was positively correlated with membrane fluidity. All together, these findings reinforce the genetic background as a determinant player on adipose membrane biophysical properties and point to the dietary protein level as an important factor for subcutaneous lipid deposition as well as for regulation of membrane function, factors that may have impact on human obesity and metabolic syndrome.  相似文献

Detection of IgG antibody against Neospora caninum in cattle in Korea   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
A total of 492 cattle sera was screened by IgG-ELISA against Neospora caninum (Nc-1 strain and a Korean isolate, KBA-2) and Toxoplasma gondii. Out of 492, 113 sera (23.0%) reacted positively to either Nc-1 or KBA-2 strains of N. caninum. Among the 113 positive sera, 92 sera (81.4%) reacted with antigens of both strains, but 6 sera (5.3%) with Nc-1 and 15 sera (13.3%) with KBA-2 strain only. And with T. gondii antigen, 6 sera (1.2%) were positive but all reacted with N. caninum antigen also. Western blot revealed typical binding pattern according to ELISA values, such that high OD group reacted specifically to the major surface proteins including 43 kDa protein. Seroprevalence of 23.0% indicates that neosporosis seemed to be one of major causes of abortion in cattle. It is suggested here to establish more epidemiological researches nationwide systematically.  相似文献

In this study, we report that one of the antimicrobial peptides scolopendrasin VII, derived from Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans, stimulates actin polymerization and the subsequent chemotactic migration of macrophages through the activation of ERK and protein kinase B (Akt) activity. The scolopendrasin VII-induced chemotactic migration of macrophages is inhibited by the formyl peptide receptor 1 (FPR1) antagonist cyclosporine H. We also found that scolopendrasin VII stimulate the chemotactic migration of FPR1-transfected RBL-2H3 cells, but not that of vector-transfected cells; moreover, scolopendrasin VII directly binds to FPR1. Our findings therefore suggest that the antimicrobial peptide scolopendrasin VII, derived from Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans, stimulates macrophages, resulting in chemotactic migration via FPR1 signaling, and the peptide can be useful in the study of FPR1-related biological responses. Alzheimer’s disease (AD), which is characterized by progressive cognitive impairment, is the most common neurodegenerative disease. Here, we investigated the preventive effect of a phosphodiesterase III inhibitor, cilostazol against cognitive decline in AD mouse model. In vitro studies using N2a cells stably expressing human amyloid precursor protein Swedish mutation (N2aSwe) showed that cilostazol decreased the amyloid β (Aβ) levels in the conditioned medium and cell lysates. Cilostazol attenuated the expression of ApoE, which is responsible for Aβ aggregation, in N2aSwe. Intracerebroventricular injection of Aβ25–35 in C57BL/6J mice resulted in increased immunoreactivity of Aβ and p-Tau, and microglia activation in the brain. Oral administration of cilostazol for 2 weeks before Aβ administration and once a day for 4 weeks post-surgery almost completely prevented the Aβ-induced increases of Aβ and p-Tau immunoreactivity, as well as CD11b immunoreactivity. However, post-treatment with cilostazol 4 weeks after Aβ administration, when Aβ was already accumulated, did not prevent the Aβ-induced neuropathological responses. Furthermore, cilostazol did not affect the neprilysin and insulin degrading enzymes involved in the degradation of the Aβ peptide, but decreased ApoE levels in Aβ-injected brain. In addition, cilostazol significantly improved spatial learning and memory in Aβ-injected mice. The findings suggest that a phosphodiesterase III inhibitor, cilostazol significantly decreased Aβ accumulation and improved memory impairment induced by Aβ25–35. The beneficial effects of cilostazol might be explained by the reduction of Aβ accumulation and tau phosphorylation, not through an increase in Aβ degradation but via a significant decrease in ApoE-mediated Aβ aggregation. Cilostazol may be the basis of a novel strategy for the therapy of AD.  相似文献

The diguanylate cyclase 1 (DGC1) (dgc1) gene in Acetobacter xylinum BPR 2001—a bacterial cellulose (BC) producer—was cloned and sequenced, and a DGC1 gene-disrupted mutant, strain DD, was constructed. The production and structural characteristics of the BC formed by DD were compared with those of the parental strain BPR 2001. BC production by DD was almost the same as that by BPR 2001 in static cultivation and in shake flask cultivation. However, in a jar fermentor DD produced about 36% more BC than the parental strain. DD produced suspended particle materials that cannot aggregate owing to their random structural characteristics in static cultivation; more uniformly dispersed BC pellicles and smaller BC pellets are produced on average in a jar fermentor, as reflected by the higher BC production by DD than by the parental strain in a jar fermentor. Micrographs of BC produced by DD revealed that the width of cellulose ribbons assemblies decreased as a result of differences in the ultrastructure and mechanism of formation of BC between the two strains. These results reveal that disruption of the dgc1 gene, which catalyzes synthesis of c-di-GMP (an effector of BC synthase), is not fatal for BC synthesis, although it affects BC structure.  相似文献
