Benzothiazepine compounds have a wide range of applications such as antibacterial, antidepressants, anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, antibiotics, antifungal, hypnotic, enzyme inhibitors, antitumor, anticancer and anti‐HIV agents. In this study, the synthesis of novel tetralone‐based benzothiazepine derivatives ( 1–16 ) and their in vitro antibacterial activity and human carbonic anhydrase isoenzymes I and II (hCA I and II) inhibitory effects were investigated. Both isoenzymes were purified by sepharose‐4B‐l ‐tyrosine‐sulfanilamide affinity chromatography from fresh human red blood cells. All compounds demonstrated the low nanomolar inhibitory effects on both isoenzymes using esterase activity. Benzothiazepine derivative 2 demonstrated the best hCA I inhibitory effect with Ki value of 18.19 nM. Also, benzothiazepine derivative 7 showed the best hCA II inhibitory effect with Ki value of 11.31 nM. On the other hand, acetazolamide clinically used as CA inhibitor, showed Ki value of 19.92 nM against hCA I and 33.60 nM against hCA II, respectively. 相似文献

In order to determine the effect of drag reducing polymers on the occurrence of atherosclerosis, the Guinea pigs were used as the experimental animals. The inhibitory effect of a drag reducing polymer (polyacrylamide) on atherosclerosis in the aortas of Guinea pigs on a high cholesterol diet (2%) was investigated over a period of 6 months. The aortas, livers, kidneys and lungs of the animals, which were separated into four experimental groups (control, polymer, cholesterol and cholesterol + polymer) were also investigated both macroscopically and light microscopically. The selected physiological parameters such as, plasma cholesterol levels, plasma hemoglobin, hematocrit and total lipid values were determined at regular intervals for each group. The results indicate that the atherosclerosis in aorta of the animals receiving the polymer injection is suppressed significantly and the drag reducing water soluble polymers may be effectively applied against atherosclerosis. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate prospectively the effects of swaddling and consanguineous marriage on developmental dysplasia of the hip and associated risk factors. We screened by ultrasound 265 infants using the Graf method. The Pediatrics Department referred all newborn infants with suspected instability or a recognized risk factor to the orthopedic clinic. Risk factors of developmental dysplasia of the hip were searched and noted in these patients. Swaddling and consanguineous marriage were also determined and noted. We observed 164 of 265 infants (61.9 %) who had been swaddled and that 64 of 265 infants’ parents were in a consanguineous marriage (24.2 %). In the statistical analysis that was conducted for swaddling and consanguineous marriage, highly significant differences were found. Our study showed that the rate of developmental dysplasia of the hip is very high, 11.7 %, in our region, eastern Turkey. Also, we commonly see improper swaddling and consanguineous marriage in our region, which affects many infants. 相似文献

Objective: Thiol-disulphide homeostasis (TDH) has a critical role in various clinical disorders. We aimed to assess the association of TDH with acute tonsillopharyngitis (AT) in children.Methods: This study included 94 (73 viral and 21 bacterial) tonsillopharyngitis patients and 88 control children. Their native thiol, total thiol, and disulphide levels were measured.Results: Viral and bacterial tonsillopharyngitis patients had lower native thiol levels compared with healthy children (P?0.001 and P?=?0.008, respectively). Both groups had lower total thiol levels compared with control children (P?=?0.002 for viral, P?=?0.011 for bacterial). The disulphide levels were lower in bacterial than in viral tonsillopharyngitis patients (P?=?0.04), and there was a significant difference between viral tonsillopharyngitis patients and the control group (P?0.001). The native/total thiol ratio in each patient group was lower than in the control group (P?0.001 for viral, P?=?0.017 for bacterial). The disulphide/native thiol and disulphide/total thiol ratios were significantly higher in viral (P?0.001 for both) and bacterial tonsillopharyngitis patients (P?=?0.017 for both) than in healthy children. In all patients, a correlation was found between the levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and native thiol (r?=??0.211, P?=?0.04), CRP and total thiol (r?=??0.217, P?=?0.036), white blood cell (WBC) and native thiol (r?=??0.228, P?=?0.002), WBC and total thiol (r?=??0.191, P?=?0.01), and WBC and disulphide (r?=?0.160, P?=?0.03).Discussion: TDH is altered in AT in children.
