Pseudophoxinus firati was described from one spring in the upper Euphrates River drainage in Turkey. Here we record this species from seven additional sites, three in the upper Euphrates drainage, one in the upper Seyhan and three in the upper Ceyhan River drainages. These findings largely expand the distribution area of the species and its habitats are discussed.  相似文献

A morphologically structured model is proposed to describe penicillin production in fed-batch cultivations. The model accounts for the effects of dissolved oxygen on cell growth and penicillin production and variations in volume fractions of abiotic and biotic phases due to biomass formation. Penicillin production is considered to occur in the subapical hyphal cell compartment and to be affected by availability of glucose and oxygen. As it stands, the model provides a wide range of applicability in terms of operating conditions. The model has been tested for various conditions and has given satisfactory results. A series of glucose feeding profiles have been considered to demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed model. It is concluded that the model may be valuable for the interpretation of experimental data collected specifically for metabolic flux analysis during fed-batch cultivation because the elements of measured specific production rates are determined from measurements of the concentrations of the components and their mass balances. The proposed model may be further used for developing control strategies and model order reduction algorithms.  相似文献

Male mice were castrated on days 0 and 60 after birth. The majority of the neonatally castrated mice were pretreated with androgen; the mice were given daily injections of testosterone propionate (TP; 4 or 8 micrograms/g body wt) for 20 or 30 days starting from day 60. Daily injections of TP (4 micrograms/g body wt) to examine androgen-induced proliferation were started from day 30 or 60 after the end of TP pretreatments or from day 60 after castration; on various days after starting TP injections, the weight and the incorporation of 5-[125I]iodo-2'-deoxyuridine into the whole seminal vesicles were determined as indices for proliferation. The seminal vesicles of neonatally castrated adult mice were characterized by long duration of androgen-induced proliferation (greater than 20 days) with a low peak (neonatal castration type), whereas the seminal vesicles of adult castrated mice were characterized by short duration of proliferation (10 days) with a high peak (adult castration type). In neonatally castrated adult mice, the neonatal castration type of androgen-induced proliferation was changed largely to the adult castration type when pretreatment with 8 micrograms/g body wt of TP had been given for 30 days. However, this effect gradually disappeared when the mice had been pretreated with decreasing amounts of TP for a shorter period. The present findings suggest that the defect in the androgen-induced proliferative response of mouse seminal vesicles induced by the absence of neonatal and prepubertal testicular androgens can be compensated by androgens given in adulthood, if enough androgen is given for a sufficiently long time.  相似文献

Male (C57BL/6 x DBA)F1 hybrid mice were castrated on day 60 after birth; two pituitaries from 60-day-old female mice were immediately grafted under the capsule of the left kidney in half of the castrated mice to induce hyperprolactinemia. The seminal vesicles in the absence of androgen treatment were examined 15, 22, 30 and 60 days after castration with or without grafting. Significant increases in the weight (1.3-1.4-fold), DNA content (1.2-1.3-fold) and labeling index of epithelial cells (4-10-fold) of the seminal vesicles were found in mice with pituitary grafts compared to mice without grafts on days 15-30 after castration but not on day 60 after castration. Such stimulatory effects of hyperprolactinemia on mouse seminal vesicle cells were also observed on day 15 after castration plus adrenalectomy. Cell loss from the seminal vesicles was found to be similar in castrated mice with and without the grafts. The present findings demonstrate that hyperprolactinemia induces an increase in DNA synthesis of epithelial cells in the seminal vesicles until 30 days after castration and results in a significant delay of castration-induced involution of the weight and DNA content of the seminal vesicles for 1 month. However, the delay with increased epithelial cell growth by hyperprolactinemia disappeared 60 days after castration.  相似文献

T cell activation by nonself peptide-major histocompatibility complex (MHC) antigenic complexes can be blocked by particular sequence variants in a process termed T cell receptor antagonism. The inhibition mechanism is not understood, although such variants are encountered in viral infections and may aid immune evasion. Here, we study the effect of antagonist peptides on immunological synapse formation by T cells. This cellular communication process features early integrin engagement and T cell motility arrest, referred to as the "stop signal." We find that synapses formed on membranes presenting antagonist-agonist complexes display reduced MHC density, which leads to reduced T cell proliferation that is not overcome by the costimulatory ligands CD48 and B7-1. Most T cells fail to arrest and crawl slowly with a dense ICAM-1 crescent at the leading edge. Similar aberrant patterns of LFA-1/ICAM-1 engagement in live T-B couples correlate with reduced calcium flux and IL-2 secretion. Hence, antagonist peptides selectively disable MHC clustering and the stop signal, whereas LFA-1 valency up-regulation occurs normally.  相似文献

Recent studies in tumor homing peptides have shown the specificity of LyP-1 (CGNKRTRGC) to tumor lymphatics. In this present work, we evaluated the possible interactions between cyclic LyP-1 and its receptor, p32, with molecular dynamics and docking studies in order to lead the design of novel LyP-1 derivatives, which could bind to p32 more effectively and perform enhanced antitumor effect. The total binding enthalpy energies have been obtained by MM-PBSA thermodynamic computations and the favorability of p32.LyP-1 complex in water has been shown by explicit water MD computations. The last 30 ns of molecular dynamics trajectory have shown the strong interaction of LyP-1 with the inner surface chains of p32, especially with chains B and C. ALA-SCAN mutagenesis studies have indicated the considerable influence of Asn3, Lys4, Arg5, and Arg7 amino acid residues on the specific binding of LyP-1. Within the knowledge of the critical role of p32 receptor in cancer cell metabolism, this study can lead to further developments in anticancer therapy by targeting p32 with LyP-1 derivatives as active targeting moiety. This data can also be applied for the development of new drug delivery systems in which LyP-1 can be used for its targeting and anticancer properties.  相似文献
