1. Predation‐exclusion experiments have highlighted that top‐down control is pervasive in terrestrial communities, but most of these experiments are simplistic in that they only excluded a single group of predators and the effect of removal was evaluated on a few species from the community. The main goal of our study was to experimentally establish the relative effects of ants and birds on the same arthropod assemblage of canopy trees. 2. We conducted 1‐year long manipulative experiments in an organic citrus grove intended to quantify the independent effects of bird and ant predators on the abundance of arthropods. Birds were excluded with plastic nets whereas ants were excluded with sticky barriers on the trunks. The sticky barrier also excluded other ground dwelling insects, like the European earwig Forficula auricularia L. 3. Both the exclusion of ants and birds affected the arthropod community of the citrus canopies, but the exclusion of ants was far more important than the exclusion of birds. Indeed, almost all groups of arthropods had higher abundance in ant‐excluded than in control trees, whereas only dermapterans were more abundant in bird‐excluded than in control trees. A more detailed analysis conducted on spiders also showed that the effect of ant exclusion was limited to a few families rather than being widespread over the entire diverse spectrum of spiders. 4. Our results suggest that the relative importance of vertebrate and invertebrate predators in regulating arthropod populations largely depends on the nature of the predator–prey system. 相似文献

目的:早期液体复苏对感染性休克患者血流动力学的影响。方法:选取2012年2月-2013年2月我院ICU收治的26例感染性休克患者作为研究对象,随机分为对照组和试验组,各13例。两组患者均采用PICCO监测,并根据早期复苏目标导向(Earlygoaldirectedtherapy,EGDT)进行早期液体复苏治疗。对照组和试验组复苏液分别为林格液和6%羟乙基淀粉130/0.4氯化钠溶液。分别于复苏开始时(Oh)、8h和24h收集患者的血流动力学参数。结果:两组患者CO及PAWP水平均随着时间的延长下降,而CI、CVP及SVR水平均随着时间的增加上升。除对照组CI外,与开始复苏(oh)相比较试验组和对照组的C0、CI、CVP、SVR及PAWP与开始复苏(O小时)相比较均有显著差异(P值均〈0.05)。经重复测量资料的.方差分析进行比较发现,与对照组相比较,试验组CVP和SVR上升水平及PAWP下降水平明显,差异具有统计学意义(P值均〈0.05)。结论:感染性休克患者使用6%羟乙基淀粉130/0.4氯化钠溶液进行复苏,能更好的改善患者的血流动力学指标。 相似文献

In an oligotrophic moorland pool in The Netherlands, S cycling near the sediment/water boundary was investigated by measuring (1) SO4
2– reduction rates in the sediment, (2) depletion of SO4
2– in the overlying water column and (3) release of35S from the sediment into the water column. Two locations differing in sediment type (highly organic and sandy) were compared, with respect to reduction rates and depletion of SO4
2– in the overlying water.Sulfate reduction rates in sediments of an oligotrophic moorland pool were estimated by diagenetic modelling and whole core35SO4
2– injection. Rates of SO4
2– consumption in the overlying water were estimated by changes in SO4
2– concentration over time in in situ enclosures. Reduction rates ranged from 0.27–11.2 mmol m–2 d–1. Rates of SO4
2– uptake from the enclosed water column varied from –0.5, –0.3 mmol m–2 d–1 (November) to 0.43–1.81 mmol m–2 d–1 (July, August and April). Maximum rates of oxidation to SO4
2– in July 1990 estimated by combination of SO4
2– reduction rates and rates of in situ SO4
2– uptake in the enclosed water column were 10.3 and 10.5 mmol m–2 d–1 at an organic rich and at a sandy site respectively.Experiments with35S2– and35SO4

Climate change may alter ecosystem functioning, as assessed via the net carbon (C) exchange (NEE) with the atmosphere, composed of the biological processes photosynthesis (GPP) and respiration (R eco). In addition, in semi-arid Mediterranean ecosystems, a significant fraction of respired CO2 is stored in the vadose zone and emitted afterwards by subsoil ventilation (VE), contributing also to NEE. Such conditions complicate the prediction of NEE for future change scenarios. To evaluate the possible effects of climate change on annual NEE and its underlying processes (GPP, R eco and VE) we present, over a climate/altitude range, the annual and interannual variability of NEE, GPP, R eco and VE in three Mediterranean sites. We found that annual NEE varied from a net source of around 130 gC m?2 in hot and arid lowlands to a net sink of similar magnitude for alpine meadows (above 2,000 m a.s.l) that are less water stressed. Annual net C fixation increased because of increased GPP during intermittent and several growth periods occurring even during winter, as well as due to decreased VE. In terms of interannual variability, the studied subalpine site behaved as a neutral C sink (from emission of 49 to fixation of 30 gC m?2 year?1), with precipitation as the main factor controlling annual GPP and R eco. Finally, the importance of VE as 0–23 % of annual NEE is highlighted, indicating that this process could shift some Mediterranean ecosystems from annual C sinks to sources. 相似文献

hb(hunchback)基因是昆虫胚胎前后轴模式形成的关键基因.对东亚飞蝗(Locusta migratoria manilensis,Meyen)hb基因的功能已有报道,但其表达模式还不清楚.为了研究胁基因在东亚飞蝗卵子形成和胚胎发育过程中的时空表达情况,本研究采用免疫组化方法在蛋白质水平上检测了hb基因的时空表达模式.在卵子形成过程中,hb基因局限在卵细胞核区中表达,随着卵子的发育逐渐移至卵细胞的后端;卵受精后,核区里的Hb蛋白向外扩散,在卵后端形成浓度梯度;胚盘期,hb基因在胚盘中央呈带状表达;胚盘分化为原头和原躯干后,表达条带变宽,并呈现出梯度表达,该表达区域将形成颌、胸部的部分体节;随着腹节开始形成,hb基因在颌胸部的表达逐渐减弱,而在腹部后端的“生长区”表达,并呈现出不连续性.经比较,hb易基因在昆虫颌胸部的表达较为保守,而在卵子形成过程中和腹部的表达具有较大的变异性.与黑腹果蝇等长胚带昆虫相比,东亚飞蝗hb基因在体节形成的基因级联调控中具有更重要、更直接的调控作用. 相似文献

The ecto-5'-nucleotidase (eNT) activity and the eNT protein content in liver of normal and merosin-deficient dystrophic Lama2dy mice were studied. After the solubilization procedure, the eNT activity in the final extract was 9.2+/-2.5U/mg (nmol of phosphate released from AMP per min and per mg protein) in normal liver, and it rose to 16.1+/-3.9U/mg (P=0.005) in dystrophic liver. The increase of activity was less pronounced in Lama2dy liver (1.7-fold) than the one reported in muscle (four-fold), which probably reflects the lower content of merosin in liver. Similarly to muscle, liver contained active and inactive eNT, as demonstrated by the higher level of immunoreactive protein in normal than in dystrophic liver in Western blots performed with samples containing the same units of eNT activity. PNGase F digestion decreased the size of liver and muscle eNT from 72 and 69kDa, to 63 and 60kDa. Oligoglycan cleavage did not alter eNT activity or the sedimentation coefficient, revealing that oligosaccharides are not required for catalysis or for maintaining the dimeric structure. The eNT protein content in samples of normal liver decreased by 55 or 80% after the trypsinolysis of native or deglycosylated enzyme, but the activity did not change. Such a high proportion of inactive eNT is unlikely to come from aged enzyme, which suggests the involvement of inactive enzyme in non-catalytic actions. 相似文献

New complexes of the pinch-porphyrin family were obtained from the dimethylester of (proto-, meso-, and deutero-porphyrinato)iron(III) with the ligand [N,N'-bis-pyridin-2-ylmethyl-propane-1,3-diamine] 1-3 and with the ligand [N-pyridin-2-ylmethyl-N'-[3-[(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-amino]-propyl]-propane-1,3-diamine] 4-6. The UV/VIS studies of 1-6 indicate an increase in the distortion of the ligand field excited state. The 1H NMR spectra of 1-6 at RT and over the range 223-328 K show iron(III)-complexes with quantum mixed spin state (qms) S=5/2, S=3/2. The chemical shifts of the meso protons are consistent with qms state S=3/2, S=5/2, where the S=3/2 spin state is lowest in energy. For methyl-heme the chemical shifts are also consistent with a qms state but now the S=5/2 ground state is lowest in energy. ESR spectra of 1-6 show two different species, B and C, of iron(III) with qms, S=5/2, S=3/2 consistent with the 1H NMR results. Species B with 70% of S=5/2 and species C with 72.5% of S=3/2. The catalytic activity as peroxidase of 1-6 was quantified by guaiacol test; their theoretical maximum rate constants were k(cat) approximately 10(2)-10(3) M(-1) s(-1). A quantitative empirical correlation is found: the higher the 32 spin contribution to the qms state and the higher proportion of this species into the samples, the higher the peroxidase activity. Despite the aberrant expression of cholinesterases in tumours, the question of their possible contribution to tumorigenesis remains unsolved. The identification in kidney of a cholinergic system has paved the way to functional studies, but details on renal cholinesterases are still lacking. To fill the gap and to determine whether cholinesterases are abnormally expressed in renal tumours, paired pieces of normal kidney and renal cell carcinomas (RCCs) were compared for cholinesterase activity and mRNA levels. In studies with papillary RCC (pRCC), conventional RCC, chromophobe RCC, and renal oncocytoma, acetylcholinesterase activity increased in pRCC (3.92 ± 3.01 mU·mg(-1), P = 0.031) and conventional RCC (2.64 ± 1.49 mU·mg(-1), P = 0.047) with respect to their controls (1.52 ± 0.92 and 1.57 ± 0.44 mU·mg(-1)). Butyrylcholinesterase activity increased in pRCC (5.12 ± 2.61 versus 2.73 ± 1.15 mU·mg(-1), P = 0.031). Glycosylphosphatidylinositol-linked acetylcholinesterase dimers and hydrophilic butyrylcholinesterase tetramers predominated in control and cancerous kidney. Acetylcholinesterase mRNAs with exons E1c and E1e, 3'-alternative T, H and R acetylcholinesterase mRNAs and butyrylcholinesterase mRNA were identified in kidney. The levels of acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase mRNAs were nearly 1000-fold lower in human kidney than in colon. Whereas kidney and renal tumours showed comparable levels of acetylcholinesterase mRNA, the content of butyrylcholinesterase mRNA was increased 10-fold in pRCC. The presence of acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase mRNAs in kidney supports their synthesis in the organ itself, and the prevalence of glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored acetylcholinesterase explains the splicing to acetylcholinesterase-H mRNA. The consequences of butyrylcholinesterase upregulation for pRCC growth are discussed. 相似文献
