Few studies have addressed the consequences of physical interactions between NK and T cells, as well as physical interactions among NK cells themselves. We show in this study that NK cells can enhance T cell activation and proliferation in response to CD3 cross-linking and specific Ag through interactions between 2B4 (CD244) on NK cells and CD48 on T cells. Furthermore, 2B4/CD48 interactions between NK cells also enhanced proliferation of NK cells in response to IL-2. Overall, these results suggest that NK cells augment the proliferation of neighboring T and NK cells through direct cell-cell contact. These results provide new insights into NK cell-mediated control of innate and adaptive immunity and demonstrate that receptor/ligand-specific cross talk between lymphocytes may occur in settings other than T-B cell or T-T cell interactions.  相似文献

The effect of a synthetic peptide (H92-G110) identical to the C-terminus of murine S100A9 (mS100A9p) was investigated on hyperalgesia and edema induced by either jararhagin or papain in the rat paw. mS100A9p not only reverted hyperalgesia and edema induced by jararhagin, but also the highest concentration induced antinociception. Hemorrhage induced by jararhagin and its hydrolytic activity were inhibited by mS100A9p. These data suggest that mS100A9p might block jararhagin-induced hyperalgesia and edema by inhibiting jararhagin catalytic activity, since papain-induced hyperalgesia and edema were not inhibited by mS100A9p.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the synchronization between low-frequency breathing patterns and respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) of heart rate during guided recitation of poetry, i.e., recitation of hexameter verse from ancient Greek literature performed in a therapeutic setting. Twenty healthy volunteers performed three different types of exercises with respect to a cross-sectional comparison: 1). recitation of hexameter verse, 2). controlled breathing, and 3). spontaneous breathing. Each exercise was divided into three successive measurements: a 15-min baseline measurement (S1), 20 min of exercise, and a 15-min effect measurement (S2). Breathing patterns and RSA were derived from respiratory traces and electrocardiograms, respectively, which were recorded simultaneously using an ambulatory device. The synchronization was then quantified by the index gamma, which has been adopted from the analysis of weakly coupled chaotic oscillators. During recitation of hexameter verse, gamma was high, indicating prominent cardiorespiratory synchronization. The controlled breathing exercise showed cardiorespiratory synchronization to a lesser extent and all resting periods (S1 and S2) had even fewer cardiorespiratory synchronization. During spontaneous breathing, cardiorespiratory synchronization was minimal and hardly observable. The results were largely determined by the extent of a low-frequency component in the breathing oscillations that emerged from the design of hexameter recitation. In conclusion, recitation of hexameter verse exerts a strong influence on RSA by a prominent low-frequency component in the breathing pattern, generating a strong cardiorespiratory synchronization.  相似文献

The "amino acid/auxin permeases" is probably the most represented family of transporters in the Trypanosoma cruzi genome. Using a high-throughput searching routine and preliminary data from the T. cruzi genome project, more than 15,000 sequences were iteratively assembled into contigs, and 60 open reading frames corresponding to different putative amino acid transporters, clustered in 12 groups, were detected and characterized in silico. T. cruzi genomic organization of such sequences showed that these putative amino acid transporter genes are in an unusually large number and arranged in repeat clusters comprising about 0.2% of the genome. These data suggest that the family has evolved following tandem duplication events and constitutes a novel family of variable proteins in protozoan organisms. The mRNA expression of the predicted genes was demonstrated in infective and non-infective parasite forms. Orthologous sequences were also identified in other unicellular parasites such as Leishmania spp., Plasmodium spp., and Trypanosoma brucei.  相似文献

Endopeptidase 24.15 (EC 3.4.24.15; EP24.15) and endopeptidase 24.16 (EC 3.4.24.16; EP24.16) are enzymes involved in general peptide metabolism in mammalian cells and tissues. This review will focus on morphological and biochemical aspects related to the subcellular distribution and secretion of these homologous enzymes in the central nervous system. These are important issues for a better understanding of the functions of EP24.15 and EP24.16 within neuroendocrine systems.  相似文献

A total of 103 isolates of basidiomycetes, representing 84 species from different Brazilian ecosystems, were evaluated for their antifungal and antibacterial activity in a panel of pathogenic and non-pathogenic microorganisms. Tissue plugs of the fruiting bodies were cultivated in liquid media and the whole culture extracted with ethyl acetate. Crude extracts from Agaricus cf. nigrecentulus, Agrocybe perfecta, Climacodon pulcherrimus, Gloeoporus thelephoroides, Hexagonia hydnoides, Irpex lacteus, Leucoagaricus cf. cinereus, Marasmius cf. bellus, Marasmius sp., Nothopanus hygrophanus, Oudemansiella canarii, Pycnoporus sanguineus, Phellinus sp., and Tyromyces duracinus presented significant activity against one or more of the target microorganisms. Eight isolates were active only against bacteria while three inhibited exclusively the growth of fungi. Two extracts presented wide antimicrobial spectrum and were active against both fungi and bacteria. Differences in the bioactivity of extracts obtained from isolates from the same species were observed.  相似文献

Cork oak forests in Mediterranean, southeastern France represent animportant ecosystem in terms of both ecological and economical values, but aredeclining due to conservation problems. While management protocols are now inplace for the long-term conservation of this ecotype, we require a betterunderstanding of cork oak nutrition to assist with management. Here we usefoliar nutrient analyses for two objectives: firstly, to assess to what extentvariations in nutrient content are explained by seasonal and spatialvariability, and second, to document the nutrient dynamics of cork oak trees innatural conditions during one biological cycle (16 months) in the Maures massif(western part of the siliceous Provence). Main results showed that time was theprimary factor influencing cork oak nutrition and was mainly expressed by leafageing process. Spatial variability was a 'secondary determinant' of nutrient variations, but was more important at the very early stages of leafgrowth according to leafing and nutrient flushing, and reduced with leaf age.Nutritional responses of cork oak trees fitted general trends observed in theliterature, with some regional differences. The properties of siliceous soilalso influenced the uptake of some nutrients.  相似文献

G Protein-coupled receptor dimerization/oligomerization has been well established during the last several years. Studies have demonstrated the existence of dimers/digomers both in vitro and in living cells. However, a thorough characterization of the biochemical nature of receptor dimers and oligomers as well as their occurrence at the cell surface has not been properly addressed. In this study, we show that both beta2-adrenergic receptor (beta2AR) dimers and oligomers exist at the plasma membrane and that the detection of such species, following receptor solubilization and resolution by denaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), does not result from the formation of spurious disulfide bonds during cell lysis. Moreover, our results indicate that the biochemical nature of beta2AR dimers is different from that of the oligomers. Although both complexes are partially resistant to SDS denaturation, disulfide bonding is absolutely required for the stability of beta2AR oligomers but not dimers in SDS-PAGE. Indeed, dimeric species can be detected even in the presence of high concentrations of reducing and alkylating agents. Although the different biochemical nature of the dimers and oligomers may be indicative of distinct biological roles in cells, additional studies will be required to further elucidate the biosynthesis and function of these receptor forms.  相似文献
