Summary During spermiogenesis in the crayfish, the acrosome, mitochondrial derivatives and the centrioles are retained within the admixed nucleoplasm and cytoplasm (spermioplasm). Fused nuclear and plasma membranes form the tegument that invests the spermioplasm. A well-defined system of small tubules that originate during spermiogenesis from densities surrounding the centrioles also defines the axes of the nuclear processes in the mature spermatozoon. These tubules are larger in diameter than the microtubules in adjacent interstitial cells and their development coincides with the formation and extension of the nuclear processes. The small tubules seem related to the changes in the cell accompanying nucleoplasmic streaming and to the growth and stabilization of form of the elongate, assymmetric nuclear processes.The mitochondria of spermatocytes are transformed into membranous lamellae that lie in the spermioplasm of the mature spermatozoon, and may by oxidative phosphorylation or some alternative pathway provide energy for metabolic activity and motility.The apical cap of the mature acrosome of the crayfish spermatozoon is enveloped by a sheath of PAS-positive material. The acrosomal process is attached to a dense crescent-shaped acrosome embedded in the spermioplasm. We show, using the PDR1 element of pea, that dispersed repeated sequences of moderate copy number can be used simply and efficiently to generate markers linked to a trait of interest. Inspection of hybridization patterns of repeated sequences to DNA mixtures of pooled genotypes is a sensitive way of detecting such markers. The large number of bands in tracks of digests of these mixtures allows the simultaneous sampling of loci at many places in the genome, and the many unlinked loci serve as internal controls. It is also shown that intensity ratios calculated from these band differences can be used to give a rough estimate of linkage distance. 相似文献

The response of adult mullet to artificial hypophysalion, immediately before the onset of the spawning migration was studied. Both males and females received intraperitoneal injec-tions of mullet or salmon pituitary homogenates wth ACTH or Synahorin (APE+HCG) three times per week for 12 days. At the outset, conlrol females were in the tertiary yolkstage with a low mean GSI of 7.6, while males gave thick, non-dispersing milt. Two of fourfemales receiving one salmon pituitary plus 25 RU Synahorin per injection spawnedspontaneously in laboratory aquaria. Released eggs were buoyant, well formed and had a mean diameter of 570μm. Egg fertility could not be ascertained due to protracted contact with sea water. Spawned females extruded a meinbranous tissue 'plug' from the cloaca1 region which was subsequently retracted. The remaining experimental females were refractory to treatment and histological examination of the ovaries revealed a predominance of atretic oocytes. All males were refractory to treatment and milt hydration was not achieved. It is suggested that induction of early spawning is possible especially with higher doses of pituitary homogenates and Synahorin. Summary 1. Saturation diving from the undersea laboratories Tektite II, Hydro-Lab and Edalhab permitted scientists to conduct extended in situ observations of fish within the influence of traps. The 14, 5 and 4 day studies were conducted in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Bahama Islands and Florida during April, 1970, December, 1971, and January, 1972.2. Virgin Island style traps captured the greatest number of fish, although they were smaller than those captured in experimental traps. Trap entrance design was a major factor in its effectiveness. An ungated web tunnel worked poorly when the orifice slit was drawn tight because fish would not readily push through it. However, when loosened, very large fish entered, including several groupers and 1.8 m long nurse sharks. Few fish escaped through the Virgin Island trap tunnels, whereas numerous fish were seen swimming from the gated experimental trap tunnels.3. Cut bait seemed to play a minor role in attracting fish to traps. However, large fish were attracted by escape efforts of smaller trapped fish. Trap location in relation to natural fish aggregating areas or movement routes affected the catch.4. Numerous behavioral characteristics relating to fishes within the influence of the traps were noted, including territorial defense, social behavior and predator-prey relationships.

Kurzfassung Im Rahmen des Einsatzes von Unterwasserlaboratorien in den Gewässern vor Florida und in der Karibischen See wurden bei Sättigungstaucheinsätzen Studien über das Verhalten von Fischen vor Fallen angestellt. Verschiedene Käfig- und Netztypen kamen zum Einsatz und wurden auf ihre Brauchbarkeit zum Fischfang geprüft.
