The aim of the study was the production of resistant starch from taro (Colocasia esculenta L. Schott) corm and determination of its effects on health by in vitro methods. Starch was isolated from taro corms with 98% purity, and 10.4±0.5% amylose content. By application of heating, autoclaving, enzymatic debranching, retrogradation, and drying processes to taro starch for two times, resistant starch (RS) content was increased 16 fold (35.1±1.9%, dry basis). The expected glycemic index (eGI) of taro starch and taro resistant starch was determined as 60.6±0.5 and 51.9±0.9, respectively and the decrease in the glycemic index of taro resistant starch was found as statistically significant (P<0.05). The in vitro binding of bile acids by taro starch and taro resistant starch relative to cholesterol decreasing drug cholestyramine were 5.2±0.2% and 7.6±1.7%, respectively. 相似文献

From the roots of Aconitum vulparia Rchb., collected in Prüm (Germany), a new norditerpenoid alkaloid, named alexhumboldtine, has been isolated along with the known norditerpenoid alkaloids lappaconitine, anthranoyllycoctonine, lycoctonine, puberaconitine, ajacine, and septentriodine. The structure of alexhumboldtine was established on the basis of 1H, 13C, DEPT, homonuclear 1H COSY, NOESY, HSQC, and HMBC NMR studies. Aims
To describe the safety and performance of STENTYS self-expandable bare metal stents (BMS) versus paclitaxel-eluting stents (PES) in saphenous vein grafts (SVGs).Methods and Results
A randomised controlled trial was performed in four hospitals in three European countries between December 2011 and December 2013. Patients with de novo lesions (>50% stenosis) in an SVG with a diameter between 2.5–6?mm were included. Primary endpoint was late lumen loss at 6 months. Secondary endpoints included procedural success and the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) at 12 months. A total of 57 patients were randomised to STENTYS self-apposing BMS (n = 27) or PES (n = 30). Procedural success was obtained in 89.5%. No significant differences in late lumen loss were found between BMS and PES at 6 months (0.53?mm vs 0.47; p = 0.86). MACE rates at 12 months were comparable in both groups (BMS 22.2% vs. PES 26.7%; p = 0.70).Conclusions
Treatment of SVGs with STENTYS self-expandable stents is safe and effective. No significant differences were found in late lumen loss and MACE between BMS and PES.66.
Background
GAW20 working group 5 brought together researchers who contributed 7 papers with the aim of evaluating methods to detect genetic by epigenetic interactions. GAW20 distributed real data from the Genetics of Lipid Lowering Drugs and Diet Network (GOLDN) study, including single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers, methylation (cytosine-phosphate-guanine [CpG]) markers, and phenotype information on up to 995 individuals. In addition, a simulated data set based on the real data was provided.Results
The 7 contributed papers analyzed these data sets with a number of different statistical methods, including generalized linear mixed models, mediation analysis, machine learning, W-test, and sparsity-inducing regularized regression. These methods generally appeared to perform well. Several papers confirmed a number of causative SNPs in either the large number of simulation sets or the real data on chromosome 11. Findings were also reported for different SNPs, CpG sites, and SNP–CpG site interaction pairs.Conclusions
In the simulation (200 replications), power appeared generally good for large interaction effects, but smaller effects will require larger studies or consortium collaboration for realizing a sufficient power.67.

In this study, the plant node was dried in an oven (40, 50 and 60 °C), shade and temperature-controlled microwave (40, 50 and 60 °C) methods. Statistically (p<0.05), the values closest to the color values of fresh grass were determined in an oven at 40 °C drying temperature. Effective diffusion values varied between 8.85×10−8–5.65×10−6 m2 s−1. While the activation energy was 61.28 kJ mol−1 in the oven, it was calculated as 85.24 kJ mol−1 in the temperature-controlled microwave. Drying data was best estimated in the Midilli-Küçük (R2 0.9998) model oven at 50 °C. The highest SMER value was calculated as 0.0098 kg kWh−1 in the temperature-controlled microwave drying method. The lowest SEC value in the temperature-controlled microwave was determined as 24.03 kWh kg−1. It was determined that enthalpy values varied between −2484.66/−2623.38 kJ mol−1, entropy values between −162.04/−122.65 J mol−1 and Gibbs free energy values between 453335.22–362581.40 kJ mol−1. Drying rate values were calculated in the range of 0.0127–0.9820 g moisture g dry matter−1 in the temperature-controlled microwave, 0.0003–0.0762 g dry matter−1 in the oven, and 0.001–0.0058 g moisture g dry moisture matter−1 in the shade. Phenolic content 6957.79 μg GAE g−1 fw - 48322.27 μg GAE g−1 dw, flavonoid content 3806.67 mg KE L−1 fw - 22200.00 mg KE L−1 dw and antioxidant capacity 43.35 μmol TE g−1 fw - 323.47 μmol TE g−1 dw. The highest chlorophyll values were obtained from samples dried in an oven at 40 °C. According to the findings, it is recommended to dry the knotweed (Polygonum cognatum Meissn.) plant in a temperature-controlled microwave oven at low temperatures. In this study, in terms of drying kinetics and energy parameters, a temperature-controlled microwave dryer of 60 °C is recommended, while in terms of quality characteristics, oven 40 °C and shade methods are recommended. 相似文献
