In this study, we describe several new taxa belonging to the flora of Myanmar. One new family, Polyosmaceae (Polyosma wallichii Benn.) is recorded. Over ten new genera are recorded for the first time, including Amentotaxus Pilger (Taxaceae), Hydrobryopsis Engler (Podostemaceae), Cyrtosia Blume and Biermannia King & Pantling (Orchidaceae), Eleutharrhena Forman and Haematocarpus Miers (Menispermaceae), Craigia W.W. Smith & W.E. Evans (Malvaceae), Amblyanthopsis Mez (Primulaceae), Huodendron Rehder and Rehderodendron Hu (Styracaceae), Platea Blume (Metteniusaceae), Achyrospermum Blume (Lamiaceae), Christisonia Gardner (Orobanchaceae). In addition, five new species are described and illustrated: Tupistra natmataungensis Y.H. Tan & H.B. Ding, Biermannia burmanica Y.H. Tan & Bin Yang, Impatiens megacalyx Y.H. Tan & H.B. Ding, Amblyanthopsis burmanica Y.H. Tan & H.B. Ding, Platea kachinensis Y.H. Tan & H.B. Ding. The distribution, ecology, phenology, and conservation status of these new species are also described.  相似文献

The type of fixation (rigid skeletal vs. wire) was assessed against embryologic origin (membranous vs. endochondral) and recipient site (depository vs. resorptive) as variables affecting inlay and onlay bone-graft survival in 20 mature dogs. Wet weight and volume measurements were made at operation and at sacrifice (16 weeks). The results were as follows: (1) Rigid skeletal fixation increased bone-graft volume survival over wire fixation (p less than 0.05). (2) Fixation (i.e., rigid skeletal) and embryologic origin (i.e., membranous) were equal determinants of bone-graft volume survival (p less than 0.001); the recipient site was not significant for onlay bone graft survival. (3) Embryologic origin was the only significant determinant of weight survival (p less than 0.001). (4) Inlay bone grafts demonstrated greater weight and volume survival than onlay bone grafts (p less than 0.05). (5) Histologic and microradiographic studies demonstrated bony union of bone grafts fixed with rigid skeletal fixation, while fibrous union predominated in bone grafts fixed with wire technique.  相似文献

CGRP has potent cardiovascular effects but its role in heart failure is unclear. Effects of CGRP on calcium concentrations in fresh adult rat cardiomyocytes, cultured adult cardiomyocytes and neonatal cardiomyocytes were determined by real time fluorescence spectrophotometry. Treatment of cultured adult cardiomyocytes with CGRP resulted in a rapid cessation of beating and a reduction in intracellular calcium. Similar results were obtained in cultured neonatal myocytes. However, rod-shaped adult cardiomyocytes revealed a number of responses; (a) non-beating cells began to beat with increased intracellular calcium; (b) spontaneously beating cells exhibited increased intracellular calcium content and a faster beating rate or (c), myocytes increased their beating rate and became arrhythmic, suggesting that CGRP action on cultured dedifferentiated adult and neonatal myocytes depletes intracellular calcium, whereas in the rod-shaped mature myocytes calcium is retained, pointing to a different mode of action for CGRP on developing and dedifferentiating cardiomyocytes, compared to fully developed cardiomyocytes.  相似文献

Reclaimed water use is an important component of sustainable water resource management. However, there are concerns regarding pathogen transport through this alternative water supply. This study characterized the viral community found in reclaimed water and compared it with viruses in potable water. Reclaimed water contained 1000-fold more virus-like particles than potable water, having approximately 108 VLPs per millilitre. Metagenomic analyses revealed that most of the viruses in both reclaimed and potable water were novel. Bacteriophages dominated the DNA viral community in both reclaimed and potable water, but reclaimed water had a distinct phage community based on phage family distributions and host representation within each family. Eukaryotic viruses similar to plant pathogens and invertebrate picornaviruses dominated RNA metagenomic libraries. Established human pathogens were not detected in reclaimed water viral metagenomes, which contained a wealth of novel single-stranded DNA and RNA viruses related to plant, animal and insect viruses. Therefore, reclaimed water may play a role in the dissemination of highly stable viruses. Information regarding viruses present in reclaimed water but not in potable water can be used to identify new bioindicators of water quality. Future studies will need to investigate the infectivity and host range of these viruses to evaluate the impacts of reclaimed water use on human and ecosystem health.  相似文献

The small single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) bacteriophages of the subfamily Gokushovirinae were traditionally perceived as narrowly targeted, niche-specific viruses infecting obligate parasitic bacteria, such as Chlamydia. The advent of metagenomics revealed gokushoviruses to be widespread in global environmental samples. This study expands knowledge of gokushovirus diversity in the environment by developing a degenerate PCR assay to amplify a portion of the major capsid protein (MCP) gene of gokushoviruses. Over 500 amplicons were sequenced from 10 environmental samples (sediments, sewage, seawater and freshwater), revealing the ubiquity and high diversity of this understudied phage group. Residue-level conservation data generated from multiple alignments was combined with a predicted 3D structure, revealing a tendency for structurally internal residues to be more highly conserved than surface-presenting protein–protein or viral–host interaction domains. Aggregating this data set into a phylogenetic framework, many gokushovirus MCP clades contained samples from multiple environments, although distinct clades dominated the different samples. Antarctic sediment samples contained the most diverse gokushovirus communities, whereas freshwater springs from Florida were the least diverse. Whether the observed diversity is being driven by environmental factors or host-binding interactions remains an open question. The high environmental diversity of this previously overlooked ssDNA viral group necessitates further research elucidating their natural hosts and exploring their ecological roles.  相似文献
