Nine specimens of Apus affinis (J.E. Gray) were studied at Franceville, Haut-Ogooué Province, Republic of Gabon, for the presence of helminth parasites. Two cestode species of the family Dilepididae were recorded. Pseudangularia gonzalezi n. sp. is distinguished from the most similar species P. europaea Georgiev & Murai, 1993 by having elliptical cirrus-sac, longer vagina, longer rostellar sheath and greater diameter of suckers. An identification key to the species of the genus Pseudangularia Burt, 1938 is proposed. The present study is the first record of the genus Pseudangularia in the Afrotropical Region. Our study confirms that, in dilepidids with vaginal sclerites from swifts, breaking off the cirrus after copulation is a frequent phenomenon. The genus Gibsonilepis n. g. is erected as monotypic for Vitta swifti Singh, 1952 (originally described from the same host species in India) and Gibsonilepis swifti n. comb. is proposed. Gibsonilepis n. g. is distinguished from Vitta Burt, 1938 by its highly elongate rostellum, rostellar sheath much bigger than rostellum, relatively small rostellar hooks possessing strongly developed guard, disc-shaped suckers with weak peripheral musculature and flat or convex central part, long and well-expressed neck, highly lobed two-winged ovary (lobes rounded) and presence of a band consisting of rows of spine-like microtriches along posterior margin of each proglottis. This is the first record of G. swifti in the Afrotropical Region. The separation of G. swifti from the genus Vitta (parasites of swallows) suggests that, contrary to previous opinions, no dilepidid genera are shared by Apodidae (swifts) and Hirundinidae (swallows). 相似文献

A comparative study of the toxicity and hemocompatibility of chitosan and its derivatives with different acetylation degrees, molecular masses, charges, and hydrophobicity has been performed. It has been shown that only positively charged chitosan derivatives activate platelets and suppress cell proliferation, regardless of the acetylation degree, molecular mass, and hydrophobicity. Chitosan quaternization decreases toxicity at a low degree of substitution and abruptly increases it at a high one. Negatively charged chitosan derivatives were nontoxic and compatible with blood components. It was concluded that the toxicity of chitosan and its derivatives is defined by their charge and solubility at a neutral pH. 相似文献

Antitumor efficacy of the combined suicide gene therapy and radiotherapy was studied on the model of CT26 murine colon adenocarcinoma. CMV-FCU1-IRES-mGM-CSF-pGL3 construct with PEG-PEI-TAT (FCU1–mGM/5-FC) block copolymer as a vector was used for intratumoral administration. Tumors were irradiated with a single 5 Gy dose. The efficacy was evaluated according to the grade of tumor growth inhibition (T/C) and lifespan of the animals. Pronounced antitumor activity of the combined use of FCU1–mGM/5-FC system with radiotherapy on the background of prolonged lifespan and the synergism of the applied methods was revealed. 相似文献

VADAR (Volume Area Dihedral Angle Reporter) is a comprehensive web server for quantitative protein structure evaluation. It accepts Protein Data Bank (PDB) formatted files or PDB accession numbers as input and calculates, identifies, graphs, reports and/or evaluates a large number (>30) of key structural parameters both for individual residues and for the entire protein. These include excluded volume, accessible surface area, backbone and side chain dihedral angles, secondary structure, hydrogen bonding partners, hydrogen bond energies, steric quality, solvation free energy as well as local and overall fold quality. These derived parameters can be used to rapidly identify both general and residue-specific problems within newly determined protein structures. The movement protein (MP) of Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) facilitates the cell-to-cell transport of the viral RNA genome through plasmodesmata (Pd). A previous report described the functional reversion of a dysfunctional mutation in MP (Pro81Ser) by two additional amino acid substitution mutations (Thr104Ile and Arg167Lys). To further explore the mechanism underlying this intramolecular complementation event, the mutations were introduced into a virus derivative expressing the MP as a fusion to green fluorescent protein (GFP). Microscopic analysis of infected protoplasts and of infection sites in leaves of MP-transgenic Nicotiana benthamiana indicates that MP(P81S)-GFP and MP(P81S;T104I;R167K)-GFP differ in subcellular distribution. MP(P81S)-GFP lacks specific sites of accumulation in protoplasts and, in epidermal cells, exclusively localizes to Pd. MP(P81S;T104I;R167K)-GFP, in contrast, in addition localizes to inclusion bodies and microtubules and thus exhibits a subcellular localization pattern that is similar, if not identical, to the pattern reported for wild-type MP-GFP. Since accumulation of MP to inclusion bodies is not required for function, these observations confirm a role for microtubules in TMV RNA cell-to-cell transport. 相似文献

Phyllobothrium squali Yamaguti, 1952 is redescribed and illustrated on the basis of the holotype from Squalus acanthias from Japanese waters and specimens from the same host off the Bulgarian Black Sea coast (new geographical record). The species is characterised by: a scolex diameter of 2.9-4.3 mm, a glandular apical organ, foliose bothridia with folded and posteriorly bifid margins, accessory suckers of 286-367 micro m in diameter, 222-373 testes per proglottis, an oval cirrus-sac with a length of 354-655 micro m, the vagina opening anteriorly to the cirrus-sac, and the terminal part of vagina with a circular musculature. Specimens from Etmopterus spinax off Naples, Mediterranean Sea, recorded by Euzet (1959) as Crossobothrium squali, are redescribed and their identification not confirmed. P. squali is recognised as a specific parasite of S. acanthias; it is presently known only from Japanese waters, the Black Sea and the Irish Sea. Changes to the generic diagnosis of Phyllobothrium, as given by Ruhnke (1996a), are proposed in order to include the characters of P. squali. 相似文献

The relationship between the structure of a free ligand in solution and the structure of its bound form in a complex is of great importance to the understanding of the energetics and mechanism of molecular recognition and complex formation. In this study, we use a structure-based thermodynamic approach to study the dissociation of the complex between the toxin microcystin-LR (MLR) and the catalytic domain of protein phosphatase-1 (PP-1c) for which the crystal structure of the complex is known. We have calculated the thermodynamic parameters (enthalpy, entropy, heat capacity, and free energy) for the dissociation of the complex from its X-ray structure and found the calculated dissociation constant (4.0 x 10(-11)) to be in excellent agreement with the reported inhibitory constant (3.9 x 10(-11)). We have also calculated the thermodynamic parameters for the dissociation of 47 PP-1c:MLR complexes generated by docking an ensemble of NMR solution structures of MLR onto the crystal structure of PP-1c. In general, we observe that the lower the root-mean-square deviation (RMSD) of the docked complex (compared to the X-ray complex) the closer its free energy of dissociation (deltaGd(o)) is to that calculated from the X-ray complex. On the other hand, we note a significant scatter between the deltaGd(o) and the RMSD of the docked complexes. We have identified a group of seven docked complexes with deltaGd(o) values very close to the one calculated from the X-ray complex but with significantly dissimilar structures. The analysis of the corresponding enthalpy and entropy of dissociation shows a compensation effect suggesting that MLR molecules with significant structural variability can bind PP-1c and that substantial conformational flexibility in the PP-1c:MLR complex may exist in solution. 相似文献

Saturnius papernai Overstreet, 1977 is recorded from the stomach of Mugil cephalus L. (Osteichthyes, Mugilidae) in the Black Sea (a new geographical record) off the southern part of the Bulgarian coast. The species is redescribed and figured on the basis of the Black Sea specimens. Some amendments to the generic diagnosis are proposed concerning the presence of a uterine seminal receptacle and a posterior (third) circular flange. It is proposed that the occurrence of S. papernai is a feature of one of the three shoals of M. cephalus in the Black Sea, i.e. the Balkan shoal. In a zoogeographical analysis, S. papernai is regarded as a Mediterranean immigrant, probably a characteristic element of only the South-Western Faunistic Region of the Black Sea. A review of the genus Saturnius Manter, 1969 is presented. 相似文献
