Two materials of different structure, sepiolite and bentonite, evaluated as supports for the microorganisms effecting anaerobic fermentation, behaved differently towards condensation water from thermally concentrated olive mill wastewater from a kinetic point of view. Assuming the overall anaerobic digestion process to conform to first-order kinetics, the apparent kinetic constant for the digester including sepiolite as support was 1.12 day-1, while that of the digester using the bentonite support was 0.73 day-1. Thus, the apparent kinetic constant of the process was increased by 35% with the use of sepiolite. The yield coefficient, Yp/s, was 0.344 and 0.318 litres CH4 STP/g COD for the sepiolite and bentonite supports respectively.  相似文献

The analysis of benthic populations in the estuary of the Seine was realized from samples collected with a sediment pump (summer 1978, winter 1979). Coherent results were obtained using Principal Coordinates Analysis applied to the definition of statistical communities (R mode) or the determination of biotopes (Q mode). The best ecological interpretation arises from the estimation of specific dominances in each of the environments (seven biotopes and four different populations). The difference between this classification and the one obtained from demographic characters (summer continuum and tendency to differentiated populations in winter) shows, however, that there are no clear boundaries separating biotopes or populations. Instead, there is a more or less pronounced overlap of different niches for the benthos of the Seine estuary.  相似文献

The addition of Mg2+ modified zeolite at 0.1 g g–1 of volatile suspended solids (VSS) increased the potential specific methanogenic activity (PSMA) and the apparent kinetic constant, k 0, showing PSMA and k 0 values 15 and 2 times higher than those observed for control reactors during the methanogenesis of acetate and methanol, respectively. In addition, the population of hydrolytic, acetogenic and methanogenic bacteria increased 100, 10 and 100 times compared to that observed in the controls. The anaerobic degradation of methanol and acetate occurred in one and two stages, respectively.  相似文献

Summary The kinetic constant K 0, determined under a range of substrate loadings, was used to compare immobilized cell anaerobic digesters treating abattoir and milk bottling waste waters. Two types of mineral support were evaluated, sepiolite and bentonite, and found to influence significantly the process kinetics. Sepiolite promoted the digestion of the milk bottling waste whereas bentonite promoted the digestion of abattoir waste. Possible reasons as to why these effects are observed are proposed based on the composition of the waste water.  相似文献

A principal component analysis is made upon a set of biological variates (counts of zoo-plankton organisms) and upon rough estimates of abundance of the same organisms given by means of a scale of classes. The classes are based upon a geometric progression with a basis of 4.3. The results of the two analyses are very similar. The incorporation of mouse S-EAC DNA into homologous normal cells (mouse embryo secondary cultures), and into heterologous cancer cells (TC-SV40 line), with both systems having their native DNA blocked by BrUdR incorporation, was studied. 3H-TdR-DNA was inoculated with DEAE-D to protect it and to potentiate its incorporation, the process being autoradiograohically controlled. The amount of incorporated DNA was radioisotopically determined, and the incorporation process was studied by analysing the fractions obtained after density gradient centrifugation separation of the inoculated cells DNA. Receptivity was greater in those cells inoculated with DEAE-D-protected DNA. The incorporation was slightly greater for cells whose DNA had been blocked by BrUdR incorporation, and for homologous with respect to heterologous cells. In those cells inoculated while the DNA blockade was incomplete, part of the inoculated DNA became incorporated into the cell genome (L-H chains). However, in the completely blocked cells it could not be determined if the incorporation occurred in a lysogenic-like or in an episomic-like form.  相似文献

A novel fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) protein isoform, calledaltFGF-2, is expressed abundantly during chicken embryogenesis. The amino-terminal domain of the 21.5-kDaaltFGF-2 protein diverges completely from the other three FGF-2 proteins due to alternative splicing of their first coding exons. Furthermore, thealtFGF-2 protein, in contrast to FGF-2 proteins, is targeted predominantly to the endoplasmic reticulum. In chicken embryos,altFGF-2 and FGF-2 proteins are differentially distributed in several mesodermal structures including developing limbs and kidneys. All four FGF-2 protein isoforms are also expressed in the developing neural tube from early neural plate stages onward. In contrast to FGF-2 proteins, thealtFGF-2 isoform is distributed in a dynamic, spatially restricted pattern in notochord and ventral neural tube (floor plate and motor neurons) during specification of neuronal populations. To study the possible shared or differential signaling functions of chickenaltFGF-2 and FGF-2 gene products, they were ectopically expressed in the dorsal neural tube aspect of transgenic mouse embryos. Dorsal expression ofaltFGF-2, but not FGF-2 gene products, induced alteration of neural tube morphology in a significant fraction of mouse embryos (25%). However, no alterations of dorsoventral (d/v) neural tube polarity were detected, indicating thataltFGF-2 and FGF-2 gene products either function as permissive cofactors or regulate neural tube growth without affecting establishment of its primary d/v polarity.  相似文献

A comparative kinetic study was carried out on the anaerobic digestion of olive mill wastewater (OMW) and OMW that was previously fermented with Geotrichum candidum, Azotobacter chroococcum and Aspergillus terreus. The reactors used were continuously fed and contained sepiolite as support for the mediating bacteria. A kinetic model for multicomponent substrate removal by anaerobic digestion has been used. The model is based on the linear removal concept which is a special case of the broader Monod equation. The second-order kinetic constant, k 2( s ), was found to be influenced by the pretreatment carried out, and was 4.2, 4.0 and 2.5 times higher for Aspergillus, Azotobacter and Geotrichum-pretreated OMWs than that obtained in the anaerobic digestion of untreated OMW. This was significant at 95% confidence level. This behaviour is believed to be due to the lower levels of phenolic compounds and biotoxicity present in the pretreated OMWs. In fact, the kinetic constant increased when the phenolic compound content and biotoxicity of the pretreated OMWs decreased. In addition, the macroenergetic parameters of the anaerobic digestion of OMW, i.e. the specific rate of substrate uptake for cell maintenance, m, and the yield coefficient for the biomass, Y, decreased by a factor of 2.4, 3.6 and 5.1 and increased by a factor of 1.9, 2.2 and 2.4 respectively, for the OMWs previously treated with Geotrichum candidum, Azotobacter chroococcum and Aspergillus terreus in relation to the observed values for the untreated OMW.  相似文献

Rats were injected IP with a 0.1 mg/kg dose of MIF-I, naloxone, dynorphin, [D-Phe4]-Met-enkephalin, [D-Ala2, F5Phe4]-Met-enkephalin-NH2, or the diluent vehicle, placed in their home cages for ten minutes, and then given ad lib access to either 20% sucrose, 10% sucrose, water, 0.01% quinine, or 0.02% quinine in a repeated measures design with solutions counter-balanced over five days. Fluid consumption was measured every hour for 4 hours. A mixed analysis of variance yielded significant results for all main effects and the peptides by fluid and hours by fluid interactions. For the 4-hr test period, naloxone and [D-Phe4]-Met-enkephalin produced reliable increases in consumption while MIF-I produced a reliable decrease. Differences were obtained only with sucrose solutions, and the results clearly suggest that peptides modulate fluid consumption at positive levels of incentive motivation. To reconcile the findings of increased consumption after naloxone with the many studies suggesting a decrease in such paradigms, 0.1, 1.0, and 10.0 mg/kg of naloxone and MIF-I were administered as before but to independent groups of rats and intake was measured every 30 min. These results replicate and extend the above findings by showing that during the first 30-min period, both naloxone and MIF-I suppressed intake in a dose-dependent fashion, with MIF-I being more effective at each dose. The 0.1 mg/kg naloxone group, however, increased consumption over time and achieved a total consumption greater than control animals but comparable to that observed in the first study. It appears that at very low doses naloxone increases consumption over time, but at more commonly tested higher doses it has a suppressant effect. The results support the concept that in many situations MIF-I can produce the same effects as naloxone.  相似文献
