Influence of temperature on root development and phosphate influx in winter wheat grown at different P levels 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Root development was studied in winter wheat ( Triticum aestivum L. cv Starke II) grown at 5,10, 15 and 20°C in nutrient solutions with phosphate concentrations of 10, 100 or 1000 μM . The plants were grown for 38 days (5 and 10°C), 19 days (15°C) or 14 days (20°C). At the end of the cultivation period the phosphate influx in the roots was determined with 32 P-phosphate. Root development (lateral and seminal roof length and number) was monitored throughout the cultivation period on the same individuals by repeated (approximately every second day) photocopying of the roots for measurements with digitizer and appropriate software. The 5°C treatment yielded no laterals, and the seminals were only slightly affected by the different phosphate treatments. The 10 μM phosphate treatment gave high root:shoot dry weight ratio, high average lateral root length and high specific root length [m root (g root fresh weight)-1 ]. The 1000 μM phosphate treatment yielded the highest number of laterals per m seminal root, and usually also the highest absolute numbers. Phosphate influx decreased with increased P status of the roots. It is argued that phosphate influx is dependent on factors such as P status, root geometry and relative root extension rate. 相似文献

Growing roots of Vicia faba were treated with MH for 5 h, washed for 2 h and exposed to 3H-thymidine (3H-TdR) for additional 2-h periods at 7 h, 24 h and 32 h after the onset of MH treatment, to label DNA. As the replicative DNA synthesis was suppressed by HU, an enhancement of 3H-TdR incorporation into nuclear DNA above the control, as determined by microautoradiography, was considered to be due to unscheduled DNA synthesis induced by the mutagen. A significantly higher incorporation of 3H-TdR into DNA of MH-treated roots occurred, when labelling was applied 7 h after the MH action, whereas at 24 h only slight and at 32 h no enhancement of DNA labelling above control was registered. A 3-14-day storage with 50% water content of V. faba seeds exposed to MH or MMS resulted in a recovery from mutagen-induced chromosomal damage and a significantly higher incorporation of 3H-TdR into nuclear DNA. This supports the hypothesis that recovery from MH- and MMS-induced chromosomal damage is mediated by excision repair during seed storage. 相似文献

Cytokinins (CKs) coming from the roots via the xylem are known to delay leaf senescence, and their decline may be important in the senescence of soybean (Glycine max) plants during pod development (monocarpic senescence). Therefore, using radioimmunoassay of highly purified CKs, we quantified the zeatin (Z), zeatin riboside (ZR), the dihydro derivatives (DZ, DZR), the O-glucosides, and DZ nucleotide in xylem sap collected from root stocks under pressure at various stages of pod development. Z, ZR, DZ, and DZR dropped sharply during early pod development to levels below those expected to retard senescence. Pod removal at full extension, which delayed leaf senescence, caused an increase in xylem sap CKs (particularly ZR and DZR), while depodding at late podfill, which did not delay senescence, likewise did not increase the CK levels greatly. The levels of the O-glucosides and the DZ nucleotide were relatively low, and they showed less change with senescence or depodding. The differences in the responses of individual CKs to senescence and depodding suggest differences in their metabolism. Judging from their activity, concentrations and response to depodding, DZR and ZR may be the most important senescence retardants in soybean xylem sap. These data also suggest that the pods can depress CK production by the roots at an early stage and this decrease in CK production is required for monocarpic senescence in soybean. 相似文献

The requirement of Ca2+ for growth and nitrogen fixation has been investigated in two strains of heterocystous blue-green algae (Anabaena sp. and Anabaena ATCC 33047). With combined nitrogen (nitrate or ammonium) or with N2 under microaerobic conditions, Ca2+ was not required for growth, at least in concentrations greater than traces. In contrast, Ca2+ was required as a macronutrient for growth and nitrogen fixation with air as the nitrogen source. Addition of Ca2+ to an aerobic culture without Ca2+ promoted, after a lag of several hours, development of nitrogenase activity and cell growth. Provision of air to a microaerobic culture in the absence of Ca2+ promoted a drastic drop in nitrogenase activity, which rapidly recovered its initial level upon restoration of microaerobic conditions. Development of nitrogenase activity in response to either Ca2+ or low oxygen tension was dependent on de novo protein synthesis. The role of Ca2+ seems to be related to protection of nitrogenase from inactivation, by conferring heterocysts resistance to oxygen. 相似文献

The governing factors for soil nitrogen dynamics were identified with a simulation model. In addition, the model was used to interpret measurements from a plot fertilisation experiment in southwest Sweden.Simulated moisture and temperature conditions were the driving variables for the simulation of soil nitrogen dynamics and leaching during a 6-year period. The results of the simulation were compared with monthly observations on two plots with grain crops, one with liquid manure and commercial fertilisers applied and one with commercial fertilisers only.Simulated temporal variations of the nitrate and ammonium storages generally agreed with observations. The dominant role of the crops as a determinant of soil nitrogen conditions was demonstrated. A higher leaching loss from the plot with application of commerical fertilisers only occurred both in simulations and measurements compared to the plot with application of both commercial fertilisers and manure. The main reason was the higher N-application in the former treatment.The effect of water flows in macropores was interpreted as a delay of simulated leaching compared to observed leaching on some occasions in summer and early autumn. No direct effect of the macropores on the yearly rates of leaching could be seen. 相似文献

The photoperiodic variations of testosterone plasmatic levels in male rabbits have been studied. The animals were subjected to the influence of three circadian rhythms: 12/12, 14/10 and 10/14 h of light/darkness. The hormone assay was carried out using an enzymeimmunoassay method (Competitive ELISA). Blood samples were of two different types: seriated and non-seriated, to find if these might be any differences in the results. It is concluded that testosterone plasmatic levels are within physiologic values (0.3-10.0 ng/ml), although differences depending on the light/darkness cycle and on the type of blood extraction are remarkable; for this reason the selection of the circadian rhythm will depend on the experimentation that is to be carried out. 相似文献

The lysosomal protease, pro-cathepsin D, is overexpressed and secreted by human breast cancers. In estrogen-responsive breast cancer cell lines, estrogens and growth factors stimulate cathepsin D expression through distinct mechanisms. Summary Three mutants induced in the two-rowed barley variety Beka and their three binary recombinants have been used in an attempt to define an ideotype suitable for Mediterranean agroclimatic conditions. Physiological methods (classical plant growth analysis) together with the study of genotype x environment interaction for grain yield were used to characterize the genotypes. That characterization brought out the huge phenotypical variation produced by only three mutant genes, suggesting that single Mendelian genes may alone explain the quantitative variation, including grain yield, without the necessity of using the polygenic concept. The genotype best adapted to the environments studied is later in heading and has shorter straw and denser spikes than Beka; it also has higher inverse of leaf area rate and grain: leaf area ratio, a lower rate of leaf senescence, and a shorter grain filling period than the original variety. 相似文献

Variations in evoked potentials utilizing a photic stimulus in a sample of psychiatric patients compared to a healthy sample were evaluated. A group of patients diagnosed as schizophrenic was tested against a sample of healthy volunteers in a trial combining visual evoked potentials and a simultaneous cognitive processing. The stimulus was a checkerboard pattern presented under three different conditions. The results indicate diminished P100 and lack the reactivity associated with cognitive processes in schizophrenic group. The P200 component also lacked, in the inpatient group the changes associated with the performance of the trial. Finally the multiple P300 component was shortened in latency and decreased in amplitude in the schizophrenia group. Besides, P300 interhemispheric shifts related to trials, were commonly inverted in schizophrenics. Results are interpreted as a lacked interhemispheric coordination in schizophrenics, rather than a fixed hemispheric alteration. Two experiments were conducted to study effects of cloprostenol sodium (cloprostenol) and clenbuterol HCl (clenbuterol) during postpartum anestrus on subsequent reproductive performance in cows. In Experiment I, 96 cows received either 0.5 mg cloprostenol (PGF, n = 25), 364 mg clenbuterol (CLEN, n = 24), 0.5 mg cloprostenol and 364 mg clenbuterol (CLEN+PGF, n = 21) or no treatment (Control, n = 26) on Day 20 post partum. Treatments failed to influence postpartum interval, pregnancy rate or the incidence of short estrous cycles preceding the first normal estrous cycle. In Experiment II, anestrous cows were administered cloprostenol (0.5 mg) on either Day 20 (PGF20, n = 27) or Day 35 post partum (PGF35, n = 25), or served as untreated controls (Control, n = 26). Neither postpartum interval nor pregnancy rate were affected by cloprostenol treatment. In conclusion, treatment of postpartum cows with PGF did not alter the resumption of normal estrous cycles following parturition. 相似文献
