A flight of six major coral reef terraces, up to 700 m in altitude, occurs along the eastern and northern sides of Kabola Peninsula, Alor Island, Indonesia. Some radiometric dates have been obtained from unrecrystallized coral samples collected in growth position by three different methods (14C, 230Th/234U, ESR). This enabled the identification of the terraces corresponding to the Holocene and to oxygen-isotope stages 5c, 5e and 7. According to the present elevation of the dated terraces, a 1.0–1.2 mm/y mean rate of uplift can be discerned. Extrapolation of this trend to the whole sequence of terraces reveals a good correlation between the development of major terraces and interglacial or interstadial stages corresponding to astronomically calibrated oxygen isotope records, up to stage 13. The relatively rapid uplift rate in this region minimized the possibility of polycyclic sea-level stands at the same levels and contributed to the good preservation of some morphological reef features. Two superimposed marine notches are visible near the present shoreline, with retreat points at about 5.0 m and 8.6 m respectively above the present MLWST level. They can be interpreted as corresponding to a glacial interstadial (the upper notch) and to the Holocene sea-level peak (the lower one). As Holocene emergence has been less than what could be expected from a 1 mm/y rate of uplift, a major coseismic vertical displacement may occur in the future.This work is a contribution to the IGCP Project 367 Late Quaternary coastal records of rapid change and to the activities of the INQUA Commissions Neotectonics and Shorelines, the task group Paleoseismicity of the Late Holocene of the Inter-Union Commission on the Lithosphere, and the UNESCO-IUGS cooperative programme Earth Processes in Global Change (CLIP Pilot Project)  相似文献

从海栖热袍菌中克隆出编码热稳定性的纤维素酶基因,以热激载体pHsh为表达质粒,构建重组质粒phsh—Ceff4,并转化至大肠杆菌中进行表达。基因表达产物通过热处理和离子交换层析,重组酶纯度达电泳纯。对纯化的重组酶酶学性质研究表明,最适反应温度85℃,最适反应pH4.6,pH4.5—6.0之间酶的相对酶活在80%以上。Co^2+对酶活性有促进作用,Ca^2+、Mg^2+、Zn^2+不影响酶活性,而Cu^2+、Ni^2+、Mn^2+对酶活性有抑制作用。  相似文献

The length-force relations of nine different skeletal muscles in the hindlimb of the cat were determined experimentally, with electrical stimulation of the sciatic nerve as the activation mode. It was shown that the active-, passive-, and total-force patterns varied widely among the muscles. The tibialis posterior (TP), medial and lateral gastrocnemius (MG, LG) and flexor digitorum longus (FDL) had a symmetric active-force curve, whereas the tibialis anterior (TA), peroneus brevis (PB), peroneus longus (PL), extensor digitorum longus (EDL), and soleus (SOL) had an asymmetric curve which exhibits about 25% of the maximal isometric force at extreme lengths. The SOL, EDL, and LG had a low-level passive force which appeared at short muscle length, whereas all other muscles exhibited initial passive force just before the optimal length. The total force was rising quasi-linearly for the SOL, whereas the other muscles exhibited an intermediate plateau about the optimal length. The LG and FDL had a substantial but temporary intermediate dip in the total force as the muscle was elongated past the optimal length. The elongation range of the various muscles also varied, ranging from +/- 15 to +/- 30% of the optimal length. The elongation range was symmetric for the FDL, LG, MG, TP, SOL, and EDL, and asymmetric for the PL, PB, and TA, being -12 to + 17%, -12 to + 17%, and -35 to + 12%, respectively. Two different models which incorporate muscle architecture were successfully fitted to the experimental data of the muscles except for the MG and TA. The architecture of these two muscles is highly nonhomogeneous and contains compartments with two pennation patterns or two different optimal lengths. New models, which add spatially and temporally the individual characteristics of each compartment of the muscles, were constructed for these two muscles. The new models demonstrated high correlation to the experimental data obtained from the MG and TA. It was concluded that the length-force relation varies widely among various skeletal muscles and is probably dependent on the primary function of the muscle in the context of integrated movement; this is a manifestation of architectural factors such as fiber pennation pattern and angle, cross-sectional area, ratio of muscle to tendon length, distribution of the fiber length within the muscle and compartmental pennation.  相似文献

Species delimitation, an issue central to systematics and biodiversity studies, is addressed in the epunctifera group of the stem borer genus Sesamia Guenée (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). This group is composed of four sub‐Saharan species: Sesamia poephaga Tams & Bowden; Sesamia epunctifera Hampson; Sesamia penniseti Tams & Bowden; and Sesamia poebora Tams & Bowden, the taxonomic status of which was unclear. The first species was considered a possible synonym of the second, and the third species was considered a possible synonym of the fourth. An analysis combining morphological, ecological and molecular data enables us to conclude that S. epunctifera and S. poephaga are different species, and that S. poebora is a synonym of S. penniseti. Two new species were discovered: Sesamia firmata sp.n. and Sesamia veronica sp.n. Sesamia firmata sp.n. has atypical genitalic morphology, suggesting a strong selection resulting in a reinforcement of pre‐zygotic isolation. Some specimens previously identified as S. penniseti on the basis of morphology are sisters to S. epunctifera on the mitochondrial tree, and are connected to S. penniseti on the nuclear tree. The mitochondrial distance from S. penniseti and S. epunctifera is 7.6% and 3.9%, respectively, suggesting an ancient mitochondrial introgression from S. epunctifera into S. penniseti. The possible causes of the reinforcement and introgressive hybridization are discussed. This case of mitochondrial introgression, uncommon in Lepidoptera, in which females are the heterogametic sex, may be an exception to Haldane's rule. The hybrid is assigned the rank of species and named Sesamia pennipuncta sp.n.  相似文献
